Wonderful advice I'm just getting into photography and this one video taught me so much about the world of SD cards. You're obviously incredibly knowledgeable and have been in the industry for a while. You remind me of my uncle. Thanks again for the info! 📷 🎞️ 🫡
Thankyou Kornel. Hope you're keeping well. Very informative post and also simple presentation. Best wishes for your cinematography career and keep up the good work.
Thanks for this very informative report. So glad the SDXC I cards are going to cover what I need. So many reports telling us we need the SDXC II and v90 on the card. Thanks.
The camera has to have the extra pins to take advantage of the higher speeds. Only handful of ultra high end. cameras are completely compatible with the type 2 cards.
Hey man new subscriber here ! I love the videos you put up they are very informative ! I’ve watched this video maybe 4 times . Which SD cards would you suggest for m1 mark ii Olympus ? For both slots ?
Very very good explanations. You are very articulate and speak clearly and fast enough. I just got a Sandisk Ultra 64gb SDXC UHS-1. Is it ok for 4K video? 1080p? I only really care about video. Good luck with your channel. Keep the videos coming. I suggest videos for youtubers that vlog and/or make taking head videos. I understand cameras and used a canon AE-1 for many years. I am a beginner with new electronic cameras and recently got a canon m50. What is your opinion of the m50? I could use advice from someone like you who knows what he is talking about. Your video music is way too loud. Music in a video should be subtle and not noticeable unless you think about it. Thanks for making videos. I will definitely look for any new ones from you. One last thing. You need a thick skin. Don't let yourself get upset about negative feedback and definitely don't answer with anger. Just thank them for the feedback and move on. There are a lot of jerks out there and some who are nice but not careful with how they express themselves. A comment can be very insulting but true, so take the good from the unpolite stuff. I fight with my brother all the time over texting because of misunderstanding. Texting is a terrible way to communicate, but it's all we have in this case so take advantage and look for value by ignoring hurt feelings.
Very helpful Kornel, i just purchased a super fast sandisk 128GB card Extreme Pro with 1700MB/S read and 1200MB/W and it will not work in my D850 Nikon, camera will not read it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What card do you suggest for burst shooting in the studio. I am not sure at this point if it’s the card I use that’s not enough or if perhaps it’s my strobe. My strobe says recharging time is 0.5~2sec. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thank you

5d3 does not shoot in 4k, and the sd card slot tops out at 45mb/s so in this case you would be better to get compact flash cards as they will work full speed (up to 160mbs) but if you don’t want to go down that road my main recommendation still stands - Extreme Pro 64gb
I’m going to shoot in Tanzania for two weeks and will be using my Sony RX10M4. I have two SanDisk Extreme SD card that are 128GB. I’m planning on buying more, and see that there are even larger sizes now of 512GB and even 1TB. Would you consider either of those?
Don't think you mentioned in the video but how many times have you encountered a card failure? It seems reviewers way overexaggerate how much of a factor this is
Hi Kornel, Thankyou for this topic. I’m a new comer 4K shooter. Do you thing the older version 95MB/s run well for shoot 4K 100Mb/s? Or should I upgrade to 170MB/s or uhs-II ?
What’s the best to use if your trying to store videos with audio from your laptop onto an SD card? I have a Anker 7-in-1 USB C Hub with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5 Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader. I’m just trying to load videos from my laptop on to an SD Card just to have for safe keeping’s. Is it possible to do this?
SD card isn't designed for safe keeping, it is a temporary or intermediate storage medium between the device that captures the content and the computer that will edit and archive it on another medium eg: hard drive, ssd or in the cloud
I spend 100$ on a sd card for my sony a7r4 and it gives me an error ! You think this extreme pro will work good for photography on this 61 megapixel camera
Kornel wich Sd card you recommend for me? I have a7iv soney camera and I have sandisk extreme 128GB and sandisk extreme pro 512 gb but both ofvthem very slow when I take videos 4k
Well sounds perfectly fine on my speakers and headphones so not sure what most of you are on about, but I'll pay more attention to the music levels on the next one. And you are welcome!
hi kornel. maybe you can help me with this one. I bought the sandisk extreme pro . 170mbs 256 gb sdxc V30 I and i cannot record in 4k on my 5d Mk4. Do you know if this card is good enough?, Ive seen post online with slower cards telling that they worked very well on my camera. So im a little confuse. Please any help is welcome.
Beyond Amazingly Great video! Looks excellent and pro too :) The backing track audio music is too loud and was distracting from the content. Very helpful video and I love the info on backup recordings using a 2 card system in camera. So you record every time using backup setting 2-card system in camera? I will go with some 64gb Sandisk Extreme Pro cards
Thanks for the feedback. Yes I shoot everything to 2 cards, both photo and video, gives me an extra backup, redundancy and peace of mind, I highly recommend you do that to.
You are way off with the data speeds. Maybe you think about bits when you talk about bytes. The video speeds are on the C, U and V markings. Generally fit Full HD you need C10 or U1 which is 10 Mbytes / s. For 4K typically U3/V30 i.e. 30 Mbytes/s. These are what count but what is listed as the maximum write speed. Each camera manual will tell the card requirements.
Telling someone to check the manual isn't particularly helpful advice, and besides that this is real world experience, if you go with those kind of speed ranges you shouldn't have any issues regardless of the camera, brand, or codec.
Would it be possible for you to repost this video without the music. It is very distracting and I'm finding it hard for following along and absorb the valuable information. Thank you in advance.
Unfortunately youtube doesn’t allow to change the sound, and deleting the so far most watched video isn’t really something I want to do, so it is what it is 🤷♂️
hi i want to ask some question, we know that larger resolution need fast micro sd speed write, my question is what will happen if i use class 10 to record 4k in term of video quality, because i cant find comparison video class 10 vs u3 recorded video side by side. i hope you can explain to me, and maybe make a video side by side comparison, thank you.
The card has nothing to do the video quality, it will either be fast enough and the video will save to it, or it will buffer and the video will keep stopping to record, the quality won't be affected at all
Sandisk 64gb extrem pro And sandisk gold 64 gb both are same Both or Sdxc1 U3 class 10mbs V30 And just 170 and 150 mbps What is main difference? Which one is best

@@KornelFlint Right, well I suggest you write that in the intro. I also miss some critical perspective in your review. You know, every product can be improved. Anyway, keep up the good work.
@@CliffFennell Then you didn't listen to the message in the video:) I specifically talk about using a lot of smaller cards instead of a couple big ones, it's a peace of fragile plastic, if you use it a lot it will eventually fail at some point so the more you switch between cards the longer they will last
Thanks for this!
The music is really overpowering your voice. It would be a perfect volume for b roll
Ok good to know, I'll keep it in mind for the next one, thanks!

Omg so helpful! Quick question. I heard you need to have a UHS ii card to shoot in cLog. Is that true?
That will depend on the camera, but I don't think that the card type is dependent on the log profile but the resolution and frame rate.
