    This movie brings me a lot of nostalgia from my childhood, the last sequence were they turn into innocent kids again and go together to the candy shop always makes me shed a tear.

    this is a kind of movie magic i cant find anymore. this was such a, perfect movie. everything ended beautifully. it never took itself too seriously. and still im sitting here crying by how moving it is.

    The scene when Stephen chow jumps on the eagle so gently and literally sees Buddha on the clouds. Absolutely fucking amazing !

    Can't hold up more than Kung Fu Hustle.
    no only was it silly fun as a kid, but a meaningful and self reflective movie as an adult.
    AND Entertaining? basically an action flick!
    Literally art.

    Steven Chow is a genius, for those who don’t know Steven chow directs and stars in a lot of his movies, he plays “the one” in this movie and “steel leg” in Shaolin Soccer, he’s a creative genius and he’s also a amazing martial artist

    What a classic movie. I saw it when it first came out in Indiana after a saw the preview for the movie, the dancing axe gang scene had me hooked. I have been a Stephen Chow fam ever since. I'm still hoping for a Kung Fu Hustle 2 and please Hollywood don't remake this film, it's perfect just the way it is.

    I cannot express how fantastic this movie is. The settings are gorgeous, the directing is top notch, the fight scenes are phenomenal. It's probably my favorite martial art movie, ever.

    A movie that flows like water. Is beautiful, charming, unique art style, comic timing is magnificent, the allusion to various Kung Fu styles is amazing.
    It's a truly beautiful piece of cinema.

    This movie does so many things right, but the pacing in particular is SO good. Every sequence flows perfectly into the next and it only keeps getting better and better.

    I´ve never noticed at the end scene there are alot of people in the shot from the whole movie, like the guy with his pants under his butt together with that lady who got almost burned by the axe gang or the guy from the train who assaulted the main charakter together with the lipstick lady. The Married Masters and the guy with a pavement on his head 😁

      And they're all just normal people now, not living in a slum. Because Mr. Beast owns a gang and due to being good now he has access to ultimate power and can help all of his new masters friends live a slightly better life.

    One thing that i like from most stephen chow movies,is the value and moral he put in,Sing try really hard wanna be bad guy because he thinks he a loser,but in the end he had to accept that he cannot be bad guy and become good guy, 07:21 the emotional,nostalgic scene for this movie

      Half the people from the slum are visible. Now that the new axe gang boss' reformed kung fu killer is in charge, he likely helped everyone at least get out of severe poverty. You help the friends of your new teacher who can teach you enlightenment and ultimate power if you can help it. It melted his heart to be forgiven and taken as student of the better fighter.

    I find it funny how after the villain's foot is smashed so that it looks like a toad's foot, he pulls out the toad based martial art. Talk about improvising and adapting.

    I lost count the amount of times I've watched this film and never realised at 9:16 we see the barber talking to a girl with his ass hanging out, the guy who beat up sing on the tram and the landlady's husband with another woman.

    One of the funniest bits of this movie is when he steals the ice cream and laughs manically on the back of the tram. Everytime it made me laugh 😅

    The movie starts with the city being covered by the dark when the evil Axe Gang taking control and it ends with the lightful Candy shop bringing joy to the peaceful city. The good always prevails over the evil. And also watching this movie as someone who is familiar with the cultural references from both the West and the East makes me appreciate even more how good this film is.

    That final scene was amazing. Does the God Hand to stop him, just takes the needle and spins it away like a flower. This is the power of transmutating wickedness. Nobody knows how amazing this final scene is. In the end he becomes a god. There is no need to kill because doing so is killing your own creation. The first step is peace among yourself and realizing you are the One, then finally taking responsibility of others as truly befitting of a god to feel.

    For those who have read a few martial art/cultivation manhuas or chinese light novels will see most of this movie is adapted from known cliches hahaha the beggar with OP techniques is the cherry on top, usually in chinese martial art/cultivation stories the beggars on the streets are super strong grandmasters pretending to b dumb who go around the world doing random stuff

    I like the fact that you have the end where you have the little kid and he gets to decide which one he wants I mean you don't really get the towel what the other four are but which one would you choose. It's always an interesting and enjoyable fight scene

    As y'all may know Stephen Chow is a fan of both Dragon Ball and Journey to the West. Buddhas Palm here is based on the same technique in Journey to the West but in Dragon Ball this same technique was also adapted later in the series Dragon Ball Z perform by Goku called Dragon Fist.
