Yes!! I actually hated her through most of my rewatches up until my rewatch last year. I really resonated with her season 3 storyline and for the first time I understood her reaction to Cam’s death instead of laughing at her awkward acting
I'm currently doing my annual rewatch of Degrassi during finals season and I hate to agree with the Peter redemption arc. My only issue is that Degrassi spent so much time trying to redeem characters (it's highschool, some people are just evil), instead of developing their underrated (Black and POC) characters with barely any screen time.
So true! Plus I don't think some people ever get redeemed some people get worse the older they get. I wish they could have given characters like Chantay, Hazel or Marisol more character development
Agree! But I would also say there is a lot of maturing the last years of high school, I have seen a lot of assholes become nicer people there last year. Maybe its a feeling of about to loose what there use to but I have seen lots of "redemption arcs" in my own school when I was coming to grad. And it was the whole year, maybe even some of junior. There majorly under used POC it was disappointing
100% the POC characters needed more. At the same time I think it makes sense for this to be a show with a lot of redemption arcs. High school is the period of time where your personality and values shift the most so it makes sense for a grade 9 to become a better person by graduation
Honestly I feel like it's realistic that people who might end up in a gang don't have a certain look. He is from a poor background and had issues with his mom so it makes sense that he ends up as a recruit to a gang as he wasn't in the best place in his life

I agree with you about Cam/Zig. I love Zig and it wasn’t his fault, Cam was spiralling for multiple reasons, but would’ve loved Zig to battle with that more - maybe go to therapy about it. I also didn’t like Zig’s storyline with Esme.
I think Zig's storyline with Esme was well done. It brought back some memories for me because it was so realistic. Honestly him opening his eyes to how toxic Esme is, having the strength to finally leave her and being willing to cut her off shows Zig's maturity. The old Zig probably wouldn't have had the strength to ever leave someone like Esme. In fact if we bring it back to the Cam situation. Maybe Zig would have stayed with Esme convincing himself that he DESERVES her toxicity and emotional abuse as punishment for what happened to Cam. Again that have been giving Zig a longer storyline of struggling with the soul-crushing guilt of Cam's death. He starts dating a girl who's horrible to him and because of what happened with Cam he thinks he deserves to suffer. Why didn't we get something like that?
Alex should've definitely been punished for her part in Rick's prank. It's weird how Sean and Ellie had no interaction after he returned. Hunter pissed me off when he was judging Sa'ad in Next class over a misunderstood terrorist comment even though he was literally put in a mental facility after what he did to Maya and for literally bringing a gun to school, along with having anger issues overall. The nerve of that boy🙄. And yes, his friend group annoys the crap out of me. Also the the gay one(can't remember his name) tried to ruin Maya's singing career just because she didn't like the fact that he was making covers of her songs, imagine doing that after taking part in a "prank" that led a swat team to her house. I have so much more to rant about
The one thing I noticed is that siblings of LGBTQA+ characters bully other LGBTQA+ characters before we know they have siblings who are LGBTQA+ (Drew and Owen mostly). I also think Marisol was actually pretty well rememberable since I felt she wasn’t as ignored as most black characters in the show. And, the Next Class episode where Winston calls out Esme for only calling out Zoe for cultural appropriation when he as Korean decent also culturally appropriated Japanese culture was really smart and actually threw me off guard, because it was short and not a main plot, which really stood out to me.
@@fizzy249 He threatened to out Riley, I think so he can be quarterback, which I think is partly why he comes out (it’s near the start of season 10), which is episode 5, and Adam came in episode 9.
I hate Drew and I honestly don’t think he gets enough hate. Maybe it’s an unspoken fact, but I never see Drew’s name get brought up when people talk about worst boys. His mother also sucked too.
Omg I hate his mom so much, I hated how she blamed alli for drew failing school and assumed that she was the one in the boiler room with drew and then slutshamed her. She's definitely the type of mom who believes her son can do no wrong and blames other people for his wrong doings. The only time I liked her was when she rightfully called out drew for messing around with Zoe and playing with her feelings, that was really gross of him as well.
@@annaliseyhowe7874 YES! I could not agree with you anymore. Alli was literally crying and clearly upset in the scene at the dance. She was the worst. I also hated how she still thought that Bianca wasn’t good enough for drew even though she saw her grow and better herself as a person. Drew is literally the worst, he deserves nothing.
From the very first scene of Drew we were told from the jump that his character was sly selfish and self oriented. He was gonna expose Riley just to get a quaterback position that he didn't deserve especially since he was new to the school and the team. Then he was rude to Ally and Katie. The only person he respected was Bianca. Audra Torres is very racist and closed minded individual when it came to students with adversity. She disrespected Ally (like son like mother pff), Claire, and other female students at degrassi during PTA meetings.
i think alli had the same amount of stuff as claire did. i personally loved claire’s story and i absolutely loved eli. alli had tons of episodes about her and her mistakes and whatever else.
After watching Degrassi over again. My goodness Jimmy may be the best friend anyone can ask for. Also, Alex deserved more punishment for her part on the prank with Rick.
I think Zig and Cam were sadly enemies, they were literally at the point of physically harming each other. I remember having relationships like that when i was younger where there's people that i just didn't like and they also didn't like me (all looking back, for no good enough reason as well- just being young and dumb and thinking we're cool) but we had the same friends which made us cross paths alot. I feel that Zig didn't kill Cam... tbh there was a good scene in degrassi with the french teacher where she comforts Zig where he was blaming himself about Cam. I can't recall perfectly, but she said cam was sick, and that if it wasn't what Zig said it could've been anything else or anyone else. Again, I don't remember perfectly, but it's not just Zig who brought Cam to that mindset, it was genuinely collectively a bunch of stressors from so many people that Cam had to interact with- along with being alone as a teen with not even his family around... it's alot and I don't want to defend Zig too much, what he said definitely was unnecessary on so many levels, but to say he basically killed Cam is really not the line of thinking to have about the situation, and from a viewer standpoint it really throws the whole plotline out the window and we don't learn what we actually need to learn from Campbell's character if we just boil it down to that one idea too
i cannot stand how all adults just forgot about how violent and abusive rick was. even after he shoots jimmy they were all 'it's because you bullied him, we should have taken the bullying more seriously' - no, you should have taken his violent tendencies more seriously. what the hell is a kid who repeatedly abused and then put his ex-girlfriend in a coma allowed in public school, let alone anywhere near a gun?? toby pissed me off too - introducing rick to possible love-interests was actively putting those girls in danger. rick should have faced consequences for his actions and since clearly no meaningful legal steps were taken i don't blame the kids for taking it out their own way. you can't put someone with a history of violence in a school and tell the kids to walk on eggshells to avoid getting attacked by him, it's your job to stop him from hurting people not the kids' to pretend to like him after he put their friend in a coma.
People say that season 5 onward Ellie became a pick-me because everything she did was to get Craig’s attention. Like that episode where Manny had dinner at their house and Ellie was basically calling her stupid and vapid the whole time. She was running around trying to keep Craig from his girlfriend even though she had a boyfriend herself. She was just incredibly annoying.
The way the writers tried to borderline justify what Hunter did by blaming it on his mental illnesses has always really pissed me off. Hunter bringing a gun to school and threatening Maya had literally nothing to do with his ODD and I wish they didn't try to make his mental illnesses the main reasons why he did it. They could have given another student a better, more constructive, and accurate storyline about ODD rather than giving it to the incel with daddy issues. As someone with ODD, that storyline really didn't help the already negative views people have about ODD :/
That storyline was trash they 13rwyed it. Degrassi usually makes stories for us to learn from and be open minded and aware about issues. With this storyline they just pasted it in for unnecessary drama reasons while disrespecting everyone who deals with ODD.
That is why I dislike Next Class so much they didn't cherish what Degrassi has done for years they just made another 13rw harmful melodramatic cringe show on Netflix that just ended up causing more problems down the road. Nothing was beneficial about next class and I believe the writers cattering to Netflix instead of their legacy ruined the franchise.
@@serayvlogs Yes!! I agree completely, the show lost it's touch. It did have a few good storylines here and there but more often then not, all character development from those decent storylines would go straight out the window as soon as that plot was done. There are so many different storylines they could have done that would have made next class amazing but nope 🤡instead we got Baaz, Vijay and Hunter measuring their pp's. I mean, they didn't even properly sort out the stuff with Hunter and his group of incels threatening Maya. They got off with a slap on the wrist instead of any actual repercussions and that storyline still feels so incomplete IMO.
I think they expected Next Class to go a little longer and tried some ambitious mental health topics they weren’t ready for. Hunter’s motives his destructive actions and a poorly put/not fine tuned image of what they tried to portray as ODD and Esme’s (theorized) borderline personality disorder storyline stick out in my head. If they would have kept going, they would’ve gotten feedback that I feel like we would have seen portrayed in the show. I want to believe they tried to start slow with misconceptions and planned to progress into a learning opportunity, but never got a chance to get there.
I want to comment on some of these takes myself 1. WhisperHug was KidzBop, definitely not a rock band 2. Zig wasnt shit. Half the time he could be a decent guy but the other half of the time he as an annoying insecure dickhead 3. I do agree that it was drastic to say that Zig killed Cam. While he said what he said to Cam out of anger he never intended to have Cam die and he was cleary beaten up over that 4. I honestly see the whole Degrassi series as the same quality. While not bad at all Degrassi was very tropey and melodramatic 5. While he did learn to not be an asshole i still am not a fan of Peter 6. I do agree with your view on JT's death. With persons take on that Adam should have died via a hate crime...i won't speak on it much because i can't speak for trans people but ugh i hate that take 7. Honestly i actually think they could have done some good storylines with Jack 8. Ellie was kind of annoying even in her earlier storylines (specifically when she was pushy about Marco being closeted) 9. Yeah Hunter was an asshole 10. Clare did have her issues but i didn't find her as annoying as Emma. The writers really threw the whole kitchen sink at her 11. Yeah i don't understand why anyone could hate Maya 12. Ashley isn't a great person but i feel like she is overhated Also Degrassi villainized weed waay too much like personally i think a heroin storyline would be interesting
People gotta back up off Ziggy boy about Cam. Yes, what he said pushed Cam to do what he did, but LITTERALLY ANYTHING at that point was Cam's last straw. That boy was constantly failed so it was only a matter of time and Ziggs was unfortunately that last person to speak to him. Again, Cam was a timebomb so ANYTHING was gonna set him off and Ziggs shouldnt be branded as a killer for it. He already felt horrible about it after the fact.
i disagree i don’t think it was the fact that “anything” was gonna set cam off i think it was the idea that zig made cam feel more like a burden that made him kill himself cam was obviously depressed so zig wasn’t the main reason he killed himself but zig was the thing that broke the camels back
wait people didn't like Manny? I must have been in bizarro world because I liked the character even back then. Liberty however was grating which probably stems from me actually liking JT. I also like Hunter too but I agree, he's a horrible person but made a good foil character.
I wasn't there because I was a toddler but I have heard that early in the fandom there was heaps of misogyny towards Manny and while the execution of it was flawed the eventual point was the misogyny that Manny faced. She even outright says it to JT who assumed negative assumptions about her when Craig was checking up on her
Jays growth comes from having to well work and no longer be at degrassi when he stops spinner from lighting up the school. He also matured when he started to date manny. He was already 20, out of degrassi and maybe learned a lesson of not to fuck people over. But he still messed up when it was her audition. Jay is just JAY.
Omg I love how you keep including all the scenes I’ve held my breath for because the scene with zig and Maya was gold , the teasing that was chemistry.
Hot take. I like to Zig. He had a lot of character development and I like the person who became in “next class” (he was imperfect don’t get me wrong) but he matured a lot. I don’t know, Watching his arc really reminded me of Shawns ark from the older cast
One thing that got me during the later season was how the video game club got disbanded over the issue that it wasn’t geared towards/more inclusive towards women, when there was Yale (who at the time identified as a woman) actively a member of the club
I think it’s because the game they were playing was like killing and objectifying women. But either way I HATED that storyline lol, one of the dumbest in the entire franchise
I liked liberty but after she kissed Toby after J.T got murdered and she messed around with Emma’s boyfriend after they been friends for years… I was so over her by the end🤣
I saw her and Toby kissing as them mistaking the grief they were feeling as romantic feelings. They are both the last living connection to J.T. so they weren't really in their right mind. Grief can make you do weird things
Instantly liking for your take on the gamers. They get a lot of sympathy, and I truly do not see a reason for a second of it. They were barely punished for criminal behavior and the pacing of the NC didn't allow me to feel like they had taken any time to reflect and deserve a redemption.
This ended up in my recommendations a few weeks ago, I watched it for some reason despite knowing NOTHING about Degrassi and it made me check it out and help now I'm on season 13.
idk why, but i LOVE Zig...like did he always make the best decisions.....HELL NO😭 but deep down he had a good heart, plus, him towards to end, he really had great character development. Who Zig was when he graduated was SO MUCH different than what we were introduced to and I loved it.
I don’t agree with the Ellie opinion. I think her character began to “do-goth” because she was no longer harming herself. The writers knew what they were doing when they reshaped her character
Even before her self harming storyline she was a bit annoying, specifically when se was pushing for Marco to come out even when he is attacked before he is even out
It’s quite known the fandom hates the s13 & 14 intro for being so short…but like you..I thought it wasn’t that bad and actually pretty cool. I just really wasn’t a fan of s13 especially since the previous one was so so good. But I liked how Degrassi revamped a lot of their intros to fit what was popular at the time for soap operas. They definitely took direction from the original Beverly Hills 90210 for s6 & s7 and the reboot 90210 for s13 & 14.
Also Manny and Paige would have been such an interesting romantic dynamic to explore. Because they're both similar in so many ways - bold , passionate girls who love hard and have a natural charm about them. They either would have gotten married and been perfect or it would have been so explosive and dramatic.
I hated the switch in Shay’s character in next class. Suddenly she was so worried about dating cause of her parents but went after Dallas and never mentioned them when she was pressured to send photos.
I think Paige was forgiving and even liked Alex bad girl attitude but when she was ready to grow she was, and Alex was doing the same old thing so she had to cut it hard. I respect it and I know from experience that's not easy to do
I have some opinions about Degrassi. 1. Johnny Demarco should not have been allowed to attend Degrassi. He should've been arrested and sent to jail for being an accessory to JT's murder. 2. Emma should've married Sean instead of Spinner. She never had any screentime with Spinner until after they graduated. Plus, Sean should've returned for 1 final appearance so that he be the one to propose to Emma. 3. Imogen should've dumped Jack the moment she learned that Jack never came out to her parents. If that person doesn't want to be seen with you in public or let their family know about you, then they are not worth your time. 4. Manny should've hooked up with JT instead of chasing after other girls' boyfriends. 5. Liberty and Toby should've given their relationship a chance. Even if Liberty found out that JT was looking for her before he died, she still could've kept on dating Toby. 6. Rick should've transferred to another school. He knew that everyone in Degrassi were going to seek revenge on him after he put Terri in a coma. He could've avoided being bullied if he had gone to another school so he wouldn't have to bring a gun to school, he wouldn't have shot jimmy, and he would still be alive. 7. Emma should not have hooked up with Peter knowing that he was filming Manny while she was drunk and topless. 8. Adam should've survived the car crash. He/she could've put on a seatbelt and put away the phone so that he/she could've lived to talk to Becky another day. 9. Maya was a hypocrite when she dumped Miles. She says she doesn't want to be with a guy that scares her and yet, she knows that Zig is in a gang and selling drugs. Shouldn't that scare her as well??? Another thing, she should not have let Zig off the hook for what he said to Cam before he committed suicide. Even if Maya was in denial over Cam's death, she could've lashed out at Zig for telling Cam to get out of her life. 10. KC was a fool to dump Clare for Jenna. He could've avoided getting Jenna pregnant by not being around her at all. I have more but I'll stop at 10.
The quality of music from the multiple bands in this show quickly declined! It was SO MUCH BETTER with the og cast at the beginning of the series and got so Disney channel by the end !
Speaking of music especially in the earlier seasons of Next Gen they tended to play random music over scenes where they took me out of the scene and came off as a way for bands to make a check
The difference between TV/movies and real life, at least in Canada: the SWAT team showed up at my neighbour's house one time. Rather than a whole bunch of guys in riot gear storming the property...The truck was parked at the side of the road, and ONE officer (he was wearing gear) was knocking on the door, calling "Open up, sir, it's the Police!" I have never laughed so hard in all my life. I didn't really watch the show after season 9-10, so I don't really know a lot of the younger characters. It's interesting to get fan opinions on these well loved seasons!
I agree with majority of the things said in this video but my unpopular opinion is that liberty is the worst! Ya the other girls have their faults but libertys character has always irked me. It used to be bc I was in love with JT growing up but in my last few rewatches I really gathered actual evidence to why I don’t like her. The main one is how she treats JT when she is pregnant, first of all she gets mad at him for being immature (when he’s a literal child) when he didn’t even know she was pregnant and once he knew he stepped up! Also how was she supposed to be the smartest girl in the class and yet waited forever to actually tell someone about her pregnancy and then was shocked she didn’t have many options left like girl you are supposed to be the smart one! Also don’t forget she stays being a boyfriend stealer! It all comes down to is that she is made out to be this goody two shoes and a genius when in reality she isn’t really either
Even smart people are imperfect. Her not telling anyone about her pregnancy was obviously to delay her getting into trouble, especially with her parents. Also I don't really see her as a boyfriend stealer?? Like Damian was fully well capable himself and he chose to cheat on Emma
I was going to stop watching after JT died. But I wanted to see the characters I grew up with go to college. But Eli and Clare and Alli made me love it agian. I also loved Zig and Maya.
1:47 Wait What about the studs? They kicked so much ass they were basically sort of the only punk band in the school in there beginning before Jane, and joined
JT could be mean to Liberty, but Liberty could be mean and judgy too, like she broke up with JT and then when he moved on with Mia she all of sudden wanted him back, also when Mia brought up a daycare at Degrassi and JT backed her up, Liberty immediately dismissed it, she could be a major hypocrite, personally thats why I wasn't a big fan of Liberty and as for Jay, i think him and Spinner had the biggest turn around
I just found this channel but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Emma and Spinner getting married. Was I the only one who thought wtf, where did this come from?
@@nysclips @nysclips no joke I'm watching that video now and I just got to them lol. I agree though. Everyone hated it and even though it was confusing because it was out of nowhere it didn't bother. I think they actually fit together well. Thank you for your response though, I appreciate it.
I think he was. Their lives were kind of the same. Two guys with bad circumstances trying to make something of their lives and dating girls who were the total opposite of that.
My opinions even though no one asked I hate Zig, Maya’s storyline was overloaded, they should’ve expanded on Katie’s bulimia, spinner is annoying as hell like he went from dumb jock, to dumb bad boy, to boring side character with no depth
I loved Paige and Alex together! I thought they brought out the best in each other. In Alex's case to be a better person and in Paige's case to step out of her shell more. Such a shame the writers put so much effort into them getting back together in late season six, only for the couple to break up three episodes later in season seven. As for Marisol, I can see why some people like her. But I never liked her for a lot of reasons. 1) She had an affair with K.C. while he was still with Jenna. 2) She revealed to the whole school that Katie was bulimic. 3) She and Katie were horrible to Imogen because she was an "outsider." 4) She and Katie framed Imogen and Fiona for their senior prank. 5) She made fun of Imogen's dad, completely unaware of the fact that he had dementia. As for Ellie, I found it very odd that she was so dead set against Craig after he cheated on Ashley, only to then develop feelings for him a few years later. Craig was kind of a messed up character (not at first, but he just turned out that way) and Ellie deserved better. She used to be so cool with her goth look and then by like season five, her feelings for Craig made her kind of weak. I haven't watched the whole series, so I don't know what Ellie's character development was like; I'm just going off on the episodes I've seen with her in it.
Why did the show runners make Ashley the “singer” of the cast and not Manny until Degrassi goes Hollywood? Manny can SING. Ashley’s singing makes me want to vomit. The could have had some bops all those years. Imagine Manny and Jimmy collating instead of Ashley.
I LOVED Zig. He made the show for me, he made bad decisions, sure, but he was a teenager. People always seem to forget the characters are meant to be children
Yeah even when I cringe at the awful decisions they make I know that they're kids and especially in the older seasons who don't have as much access to knowledge about various issues like we have today
Hands down, absolutely agree about Manny and Liberty. They were horribly underrated for so long. Sorry, but I have to disagree on the Alex and Paige thing. Paige fought for the relationship the first time around. She pushed Alex to do better and try for something and that made Alex upset claiming Paige didn't think she was good enough. Then they break up, Alex starts trying, then they get back together and Alex starts stripping to support her and her mom. Paige finds her an internship at her mom's company, which would have given her direction and a future, but Alex turned her down (understandably) because of the money. Alex quit stripping and started hanging out with Jay more and smoking pot. She'd gone back to not trying at all. At that point, Paige didn't have it in her to push Alex again. Especially not when Alex's behavior was on its way to ruining Paige's future after she had finally found her own footing again. Also have to disagree about the bands. 1. There are a ton of rock and metal bands that use string instruments, and it's gorgeous. 2. Was Whisper Hug great, no, but they weren't the worst. That goes to Sav and Peter. Downtown Sasquatch was mid, at best, and Craig was overrated. Ashley, Manny, and Maya all are better singers. Plus, Craig has the same stage presence as Zig through most of his performances.
They did my girl Shay dirty with that booty storyline 😭
Also Lola was such a shit friend

@@serayvlogs I know they aren’t, but I’m mostly talking about characters who we don’t know have LGBTQA+ siblings when the characters are introduced.
@@fizzy249 He threatened to out Riley, I think so he can be quarterback, which I think is partly why he comes out (it’s near the start of season 10), which is episode 5, and Adam came in episode 9.
@@adamsmoberly i remember that, and i don't think it's ok to out people, but he wasn't being homophobic, he was just manipulating the situation
She disrespected Ally (like son like mother pff), Claire, and other female students at degrassi during PTA meetings.
drew incites me
I hate Drew and his bigass teeth too
I agree with most of these opinions especially the Clare one like it 💯 should’ve been Alli.
Alli would have been more interesting
i think alli had the same amount of stuff as claire did. i personally loved claire’s story and i absolutely loved eli. alli had tons of episodes about her and her mistakes and whatever else.
After watching Degrassi over again. My goodness Jimmy may be the best friend anyone can ask for. Also, Alex deserved more punishment for her part on the prank with Rick.
I can’t STAND Bianca. Or Drew. Hate them separately, hate them even more together. Everyone loves them and I don’t get it
I never liked Drew. And the fact that the show tried to romanticize his relationship with Bianca when he cheated on Katie with her was awful.
maya's bus crash next class arc makes me ball my eyes out every time i watch it again.
Again, I don't remember perfectly, but it's not just Zig who brought Cam to that mindset, it was genuinely collectively a bunch of stressors from so many people that Cam had to interact with- along with being alone as a teen with not even his family around... it's alot and I don't want to defend Zig too much, what he said definitely was unnecessary on so many levels, but to say he basically killed Cam is really not the line of thinking to have about the situation, and from a viewer standpoint it really throws the whole plotline out the window and we don't learn what we actually need to learn from Campbell's character if we just boil it down to that one idea too
Very well said!
Agreed!
i cannot stand how all adults just forgot about how violent and abusive rick was. even after he shoots jimmy they were all 'it's because you bullied him, we should have taken the bullying more seriously' - no, you should have taken his violent tendencies more seriously. what the hell is a kid who repeatedly abused and then put his ex-girlfriend in a coma allowed in public school, let alone anywhere near a gun?? toby pissed me off too - introducing rick to possible love-interests was actively putting those girls in danger. rick should have faced consequences for his actions and since clearly no meaningful legal steps were taken i don't blame the kids for taking it out their own way. you can't put someone with a history of violence in a school and tell the kids to walk on eggshells to avoid getting attacked by him, it's your job to stop him from hurting people not the kids' to pretend to like him after he put their friend in a coma.
They rlly could have just diagnosed him with LDS (little dick syndrome) and WDLM (women don't like me) instead.
I want to comment on some of these takes myself
1. WhisperHug was KidzBop, definitely not a rock band
2. Zig wasnt shit. Half the time he could be a decent guy but the other half of the time he as an annoying insecure dickhead
3. I do agree that it was drastic to say that Zig killed Cam. While he said what he said to Cam out of anger he never intended to have Cam die and he was cleary beaten up over that
4. I honestly see the whole Degrassi series as the same quality. While not bad at all Degrassi was very tropey and melodramatic
5. While he did learn to not be an asshole i still am not a fan of Peter
6. I do agree with your view on JT's death. With persons take on that Adam should have died via a hate crime...i won't speak on it much because i can't speak for trans people but ugh i hate that take
7. Honestly i actually think they could have done some good storylines with Jack
8. Ellie was kind of annoying even in her earlier storylines (specifically when she was pushy about Marco being closeted)
9. Yeah Hunter was an asshole
10. Clare did have her issues but i didn't find her as annoying as Emma. The writers really threw the whole kitchen sink at her
11. Yeah i don't understand why anyone could hate Maya
12. Ashley isn't a great person but i feel like she is overhated
Also Degrassi villainized weed waay too much like personally i think a heroin storyline would be interesting
Ashley was definitely overhated and yeah Zig was a terrible character 😂
The comments made about Clare at 11:07 made me SCREAM😂
Tbh, I feel like that's realistic though 😂
Same and I’ve been saying that for ages! 😂😂 they had her dressing like a secretary
Your reaction to the Jack comment was so real lol
People gotta back up off Ziggy boy about Cam. Yes, what he said pushed Cam to do what he did, but LITTERALLY ANYTHING at that point was Cam's last straw. That boy was constantly failed so it was only a matter of time and Ziggs was unfortunately that last person to speak to him. Again, Cam was a timebomb so ANYTHING was gonna set him off and Ziggs shouldnt be branded as a killer for it. He already felt horrible about it after the fact.
True it’s basically a wrong time , wrong place scenario.
Nah ima blame zig he shouldn’t have done that
i disagree i don’t think it was the fact that “anything” was gonna set cam off i think it was the idea that zig made cam feel more like a burden that made him kill himself
cam was obviously depressed so zig wasn’t the main reason he killed himself but zig was the thing that broke the camels back
but if anyone notice Tristan kind of started that making it like Zig and Maya were a couple cause he did it with Miles too,
I honestly forgot that Jack was even a character
Emma and spinner getting married was weird to me, like they never dated, they should have dated in earlier seasons
The only thing I like about season 8 is the rise and fall of Holly J as the school's queen bee.
I actually like season 8 but that was one of my favorite parts too
i still feel the same about hunter but everything you said is completely accurate
wait people didn't like Manny?
I love Zig, he was flawed asl but he had good points
I love this show so much and I am so happy there is a community of people that love it as much as I do!
Yael was like the only one so you could argue that Yael was a token
I liked liberty but after she kissed Toby after J.T got murdered and she messed around with Emma’s boyfriend after they been friends for years… I was so over her by the end🤣
i think Toby kissed her. and emma was never really friends with liberty tbh and was always rude to her so it was a bit of a karma moment for me
I saw her and Toby kissing as them mistaking the grief they were feeling as romantic feelings. They are both the last living connection to J.T. so they weren't really in their right mind. Grief can make you do weird things
They really ruined her character with all that
The comment about the band was reallll
Instantly liking for your take on the gamers. They get a lot of sympathy, and I truly do not see a reason for a second of it. They were barely punished for criminal behavior and the pacing of the NC didn't allow me to feel like they had taken any time to reflect and deserve a redemption.
This ended up in my recommendations a few weeks ago, I watched it for some reason despite knowing NOTHING about Degrassi and it made me check it out and help now I'm on season 13.
I love how you dont bash anyone for their personal opinions ❤
idk why, but i LOVE Zig...like did he always make the best decisions.....HELL NO😭 but deep down he had a good heart, plus, him towards to end, he really had great character development. Who Zig was when he graduated was SO MUCH different than what we were introduced to and I loved it.
Whisper Hug never making it out the trenches fr
the only good part abt season 8 is the older class i enjoyed watching their college lives tbh
I always skip 8-9 when rewatching. Nothing interesting in those seasons to me
That's how I feel about Seasons 1 and 2, honestly.
The more n more I watch maya on degrassi the more I hate her😭and I will say I liked Claire but she did dress way too boring for me 🤣
Great video, as usual. Subscribed just now, even though I honestly thought in my head that I was already a sub, like whaaat? how come I wasn't?
thanks so much for being here!
Lmaooo I’m sorry but nothing irritated me more than zig n my a relationship, it was so dragged out
I don’t agree with the Ellie opinion. I think her character began to “do-goth” because she was no longer harming herself. The writers knew what they were doing when they reshaped her character
Even before her self harming storyline she was a bit annoying, specifically when se was pushing for Marco to come out even when he is attacked before he is even out
i was starting to think i was the only zaya stan and the only person who doesn't hate zig 😂 glad im not alone!!
They either would have gotten married and been perfect or it would have been so explosive and dramatic.
also unpopular opinion but Jesse and Ellie was her best relationship even though it was toxic i really enjoyed watching it and they were cute together
Zig shloud have to suffer for básicamente kill cam.
Alex deserved better for sure
saw my comment in the beginning just as quick montage but still got excited lol! luv ur videos
I respect it and I know from experience that's not easy to do
I have to say that it didn't help clare that she was next to alli who was definitely more main girl material😅
I agree your take I didn’t care about Jack at all and I’m SUCH a big Zaya fan. I agree with the Ellie too and same with hunter.
Calling Adam he/she?? Really? Yikes.
@@elliottmathis6671
"He" was born a biological female after all. Even the show acknowledges this.
@@loudboy317 but he identifies as a boy. He doesn’t go by she/her. Only he/him
Yeah you lost me the second you mentioned Adam
one of my opinions is that Jane did NOT deserve spinner. At first i loved them together but then i was like my boi deserves sm better
9:06 that scene plays in my head once a day
Hardcore Zaya shipper here, loved the scene at @9:10
The quality of music from the multiple bands in this show quickly declined!
Like Damian was fully well capable himself and he chose to cheat on Emma
claire's side bang was criminal
She looked 40
I’ll never ever forgive the writers for JTs death idc
My theory behind WhisperHug is that they had no idea what to do with these characters and just lumped them all in a band
Yeah I liked the studz too but downtown Sasquatch is my fav!
I definitely love Zigg and Mia together
Love ur vids. Can’t get enough of Degrassi 🔥
Not saying I love them but I personally think whisper hug overhated.
Pls the baby instruments 😂
I just found this channel but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Emma and Spinner getting married. Was I the only one who thought wtf, where did this come from?
no, everyone hates it but i didn't mind it tbh. i talk about it in "my unpopular Degrassi opions" video!
@@nysclips @nysclips no joke I'm watching that video now and I just got to them lol. I agree though. Everyone hated it and even though it was confusing because it was out of nowhere it didn't bother. I think they actually fit together well. Thank you for your response though, I appreciate it.
Haven't watched the video but NotAVampyre did a video where in the title they said they like Spemma
i honestly feel like zig was supposed to be in someway the new sean
I think he was. Their lives were kind of the same. Two guys with bad circumstances trying to make something of their lives and dating girls who were the total opposite of that.
Unpopular opinion Emma was right for wanting to cancel the cheer competition after Jt’s death. It was completely too soon and insensitive of them
i literally hate so many of the characters and if i were to say who i’d be disagreed with so hard 😭😭
12:34, LITERALLY SO CRINGE. "STUDY SESH AT THE DOT?" "LET'S DO IT" 🤣
I completely agree with the stuff about Declan and Peter
My opinions even though no one asked
I hate Zig, Maya’s storyline was overloaded, they should’ve expanded on Katie’s bulimia, spinner is annoying as hell like he went from dumb jock, to dumb bad boy, to boring side character with no depth
I personally prefer the longer intros and hate the shorter ones
If I'm being honest, I didn't like Alex with Paige, at all. I just didn't like Alex as a character, if I'm being honest.
Really? I found Paige verbally abusive low key
Only time I felt for Drew is when Adam died. But I never liked him from beginning to end
Can u do part 2 plssss
Zig is one of my top characters of the whole series-
Haha I agree with Claire why did they dress her up that way and the hair before her cancer is bad. I wish the swapped her with Ali as main girl
Why did the show runners make Ashley the “singer” of the cast and not Manny until Degrassi goes Hollywood? Manny can SING. Ashley’s singing makes me want to vomit. The could have had some bops all those years. Imagine Manny and Jimmy collating instead of Ashley.
12:18 Have you seen s7, 8, 9, 14 (TNG), and s1-2 of The Next Class!?!?
Claire and Drew: no. Claire and Eli--epic
The more I rewatch over the years the more I love seasons 8 and 9. I’m sorry everyone but that’s my truth 😂
I definitely agree with zaya > matlinworth but camaya will always be my fav maya ship
I like season 8
I watched Next Class first and I could never stop watching Zig. He just intrigued me.
