Disclaimer: not only were the movies really well cast, the book barely gives any description for most of these characters! I asked AI for Lord of the Rings characters according to their book descriptions, and this is what the AI came up with. In this video you can see Frodo Baggins, Merry Brandybuck, Pippin Took, Aragorn, Arwen, Éowyn, Boromir, Gandalf and Legolas.

I'm so glad you pointed out Frodo is 50 and the other ages. I'm fine with Elijah Woods' Frodo, I think it kind of fits with the youthful idealism of the character that is hard to show on screen since Frodo is quite sensitive, but introverted. But like the AI should know hes fifty right? Lol these things making everyone look like a stone cold foxy smoke shows. That, or a lot of the "women" look like theyre like 14 year old dolls in a slightly offputting way. Most of the ones in this video didn't suffer from these problems (particularly liked Sam, Merry, Pippin, Gandalf. I thought the Boromir would have made a better Aragorn.) However Frodo looks like he is being played by a third unknown Franco brother and Eowyn probably gets id'd for R-rated movies.
AI is definitely not perfect, you’re right about that! It’s surprisingly difficult to make something like this, and there’s a reason I didn’t even attempt Sméagol- there’s no way someone is going to be average-looking, let alone off-putting in the way you intend. This video took me a few days to make and it’s still not really “it” as you pointed out, so I’m glad you saw some characters you liked! (Also I’m Éowyn’s age and still get ID’d, so that might have been my bias 😂)

Did you actually just have the AI show what the characters from LOTR should look like, purely based upon descriptions from the book, or did you also tell the AI to make every character ridiculously good looking? Just look at this AI’s version of Aragorn. How shit would the LOTR films have been if Aragorn looked like that in them? It would not have been taken seriously. If this is the best AI can do, then we’re a long way off from good AI produced movies. These are characters from those cheap, pulp romance novel’s covers.

Because these aren't real people that exist, my guy. It's like comparing an artist drawing a sketch of a character based on descriptions vs. actually finding an actor that can act the role well AND look like the character is supposed to look like. Casting is hard because you need to find that balance between skill and appearance.
Not what I meant... I meant that the politcal agenda of production houses is more important than an accurate depiction, casting can be done rightly it is just less and less accurate because of ideology not because of difficulty
Haha yeah that's a fair point. I see that in a lot of productions for sure. Would be nice to see characters portrayed for how they were meant to be, instead of slapping political ideology over it with the constant need to send a particular type of message.
Literally no, in this case it doesn’t. The cast is great and fits the descriptions in the books. These are ig models cosplaying as Lotr characters.
