Top video mate. Good explanation of things. Just did a rebuild on a VY V6 and now I've got some coolant leaking out the rear main cover down out the bottom of the bellhousing. You offered to make a video if we asked...wanna make a vid of removing the driveshaft, auto trans, rear cover, installing new cover and how to align the damn thing properly without the installation tool which costs almost $300... just kidding :-) Keep the vids coming, they're awesome. Great to see Aussies out there showing how it's done!
For removing the crust from the overflow bottle, remove the jug from the car and take a handful of "bb's" (bb gun type) and drop them in the overflow bottle with a little "simple green" and water, shake real good until clean enough for you, a real dirty jug, may have to repeat.
That is a GMH part, I got it with a VS before they were worth anything. This intake is from a VS that was fitted with an L67 supercharged V6 but I have heard that that they were also fitted to SS V8's
So when it comes to water pressure, can I just use my garden hose pressure on as high as it goes for everything other than the heater core, or are there any other parts are delecate?
pretty much. I never have problems with the heater core since The garden hose is only pushed in/against the heater hose (I normally only remove the heater hoses from the engine not the heater core) thus it will not really build lots of pressure before it sprays you with cold water; that being said however if the heater core is fitted to a car that has not run coolant for a long while and it is rotten/badly clogged then it does pay to be careful, the point is the heater core should flow enough that it doesn't build any pressure. just start gently( water pressure in your location may be a lot higher than in Benalla, vic where I live so use your discretion). full blast when flushing the radiator/block etc.
i forgot to mension mine is a vx & what i can tell compatred to yours my overflow bottle is where your windscreen wiper bottle is, i dont hav a bottle on the right near the the strut well.
hi wicked ive got an unrelated question on the vt-vy in the L/H rear corner of the engine bay behind the strut tower there it this thing that looks like a horn but its not, do u know what it is by any chance?
hows it goin ,do u hav any idea how 2 remove the coolent resovoir in these models? the manuel says to unscrew it but i dont c any screws holding it in!
Hey mate thanks for that video, I'm new to this I have VT 99 Commodore i had the water pump replaced professionally but it now over heats I noticed the radiator fan doesn't turn on when it would and did every time before. My question is can I fix this myself and what should I look for first? Cheers
I would replace the radiator cap a t/stat. I use a 2 litre coke bottle with electrical tape wrapped around the threads of the bottle so it's a tight fit; stuff it into the radiator filler neck and unscrew the bleed nipple. Fill the coke bottle (funnel) until coolant comes out the bleeder, start the engine and fill the funnel until a steady stream of coolant comes out of the bleeder with no air bubbles. You might have to close the bleeder and rev the engine to get the last traces of air come out. Keep the funnel at least 1/3 full so no air get's in while you're bleeding it
Hey mate yes they appear to be i also checked the fuse box swapped a couple out for new one then ran the motor for 30 minutes to get it to boiling point and the fans didn't come on i turned the aircon on still no joy
No worries mate, the vid is not as good as it could have been because I was sooo sick. burson's might have them. irrigation shops are even better. truck parts places are good because trucks use them
Thanks very much! Hey I found a place local that does hoses and trucks and they have a whole wall of Tridon T-Clamps! Woohoo. Now I just have to work out what sizes I need and I can finally secure my hoses and not worry.
The cold air intake is a gm one, not sure of the part number. I think it's off a super charged vs and or an as, I can get the part number off it if you want
i need to play with windows movie maker. it renders it in a too low quality. my camera is fine. movie maker is a crap program but i refuse to pay for a better one. i will google movie maker as your 100% correct, the quality is annoying me too
So what your saying is mix coolants/use strong chemicals/shitty clamps are good, he he :-) :-) just pulling ya leg :-) I would have left video making untill you felt better, no fun when you feel shitty :-( Quality jubilee clamps/terry clamps work fine for most things but "Quality" is the bit people ignore, also correct fitting hoses make a difference. Smashing tutorial :-), Take care.
very very minor improvements needed (Not that I can talk, still think this is better than anything I've posted thus far...) I think mainly, someone needs to get you a better camera.

“Oils ain’t oils” 🤣You must be a child of the 70’s. Great video 👍🏼✌🏼

Hya, that upgraded air intake to catch more air, what brand and where do you get? Thanks in advance. 😊

Good to watch a bloke who knows what he is talking about........ on ya mate
thanks for the posting Ive never done this before and know I know what to do...got quoted 100.00 All it cost me 16.00 cheers
Thanks great comment about hose clamps.

Car alarm horn

The VT/VX bottle is unscrewed from underneath the front of the car. Sorry for the long delay.
How do i flush the water in a VT ? The same way ?
sorry for the delay in replying, yeah it is pretty much the same
Hi how do you replace the heater tap on a vx Holden
Is liquid copper ok to use in waterhoses .and radiators mate

How do I get the air out of my vt radiator it keeps on blowing out the coolant bottle when it get hot

wickedxe ok I’ll try that thanks bro
How did you go with your VT?
HI William are the wires for the fan thermos (the cables from the big fans) connected?
Hey mate yes they appear to be i also checked the fuse box swapped a couple out for new one then ran the motor for 30 minutes to get it to boiling point and the fans didn't come on i turned the aircon on still no joy
Were is the thermostat on a vn s2
hello why does my radiator fan on my vy 03 does not come on sensor and thermo has been change
0490231352 I am happy to talk on the phone in more detail than I can provide here in the comments
But my guess if you have changed the fan and coolant temp sensor would be: fuse or fan relay/s or plugs/wiring
also when i disconnect the sensor under the thermo and on the car the fan turns on
Hey mate, thanks for the vid! I was wondering where I could get the T-Clamps? I live in Sydney. Just at Burson's or something?
No worries mate, the vid is not as good as it could have been because I was sooo sick. burson's might have them. irrigation shops are even better. truck parts places are good because trucks use them
I shot a video about T clamps which I had thought I had uploaded but doesn't seem to be there. I will upload asap
Thanks very much! Hey I found a place local that does hoses and trucks and they have a whole wall of Tridon T-Clamps! Woohoo. Now I just have to work out what sizes I need and I can finally secure my hoses and not worry.
This is the place: www.kwikfixhydraulics.com.au/
i bet it did. it would be hard to fully remove from the cooling sys
What kinda of intake do you have?
The cold air intake is a gm one, not sure of the part number. I think it's off a super charged vs and or an as, I can get the part number off it if you want
:) thanks mate. lol ppl use some strange stuff to try to do it the easy way. i know a guy that thought urine would fix his cooling system lmfao
What model is that one?
1997 Vs series 2 executive
I just replace my rad and water pump when I do a whole block flush..... the heater core never gets used in mine it's blocked off
Sludge in coolant is engine rust
No shit
@@wickedxe
Yes you are correct.
The sludge contains no shit👍👍
@@atillaozturk7075 LOL thumbs up for the comment mate, I did get a good laugh
Overall, I do enjoy watching your D.I.Y videos (concise and gets to the point).
👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
@@atillaozturk7075 I am sorry I was rude, I am so used to people attacking me that I responded inappropriately
Good video, thanks mate
Typical commodores, mine gets air all the time, but then again I forget to top up the reservoir bottle!!
true, i should have replaced the red hoses, but i got lazy :D
Thanks for the video dude helped me out a good bit
i need to play with windows movie maker. it renders it in a too low quality. my camera is fine. movie maker is a crap program but i refuse to pay for a better one. i will google movie maker as your 100% correct, the quality is annoying me too
Ecotecs used to have working cooling systems?😂
Not normally because these cars normally have not had even $10 or 10 minutes maintaining the cooling systems. From the factory they worked
Can u take the coolant bottle out ??
So what your saying is mix coolants/use strong chemicals/shitty clamps are good, he he :-) :-) just pulling ya leg :-)
