The instructor of my CCW class came up with a makeshift trophy because my groups were so conspicuously better than the rest of the class. I have found the GX4 to be very accurate. Apparently, the GX4 is earning itself quite the reputation for accuracy at my favorite range. It runs reliably, racks smooth and easy, shoots nicely, and has a wonderful trigger that just gets better with use. The perfect wall, clean break, and short reset are a standard against which pistols of any price class should be judged. It's amazing to shoot various rental pistols costing multiples of what I paid for my little GX4 and come away still favoring my inexpensive little Taurus! With the exception of the full-size Beretta 9mm, I shoot better with that GX4 than I do with anything else. To have that in a gun that conceals so nicely is just amazing.
Bought the same gun today. Came with that backstrap, two eleven round mags, the takedown tool and even a free holster, which clips on my belt and feels great, (even seated). Under $400.00 for all and came in a hard case instead of a cardboard box. Have only shot one box of ammo through it so far and already love it. Knocking tin cans around at thirty yards. VERY accurate for such a small package. Shoots right where I point it. I don't have large hands and I find the smaller back strap that came on the gun perfectly fits my hand so not even going to try the thicker one. And yes, the trigger on mine is great too. I have an old G2C with the half inch take up that everyone knocks, and I have no problem hitting good with it either. It's not a bad trigger at all, just different due to the second-strike capability. Taurus has a winner with this one.
Although I am not interested in the gun I watched the entire video because of the quality/informational content. You almost convinced me on getting one. Excellent! Thank you!

I bought mine July 2021 and have put 9000 rounds through it. The trigger broke at 6000 rounds and Taurus replaced it for free. I carry all my CCW in soft holsters so they look brand new, no issues with wear marks. At the range I take the entire gun/ holster off to shoot then I put it back on with the gun in the holster. I started carrying my GX4 again to the gym but only load it with 6 in the magazine and one in the chamber. That is about the heaviest I can go while lifting and running on a treadmill. I figure that is pretty much the weight and capacity of a G43. I got a G42 and LCP max but want to get rid of them so I only need to buy 9mm for CCW.
I enjoy my gx4 as my first handgun I have loved it so much but I do agree I wish it was a little heavier to help with my aim but im happy to hear so much praise
I have carried a lot of micro to compact pistols. The ergonomics and just flat out shootability of the GX4 combined with the size, weight and capacity can’t be beat in my opinion. I’ve changed the sights and dropped in a couple of Lakeline LLC parts, but in all honesty it was just fine from the factory and I probably could have saved that money.
I have a GX4 with a Holosun optic for CC with an OWB holster. During warm weather a carry a GX4 w/o an optic as a pocket carry. These are great pistols for the price. Accurate, dependable and easy on recoil for a small pistol.
They didn't line the frame with steel. It just has an FCU made of stamped stainless like the P320/P250, Savage Stance/Honor Guard, Pico and a few others.
I regret selling my firearms. My first EDC was the EC9s then GX4 TORO. Sold both and got the 43x MOS. I should have kept them. For some reason I shot my GX4 better than my 43x. Unfortunately the recall gave me a mental block and deep down I cannot get over it to carry as my EDC.
Yeah. Same here. A long stretch of unemployment forced me to liquidate. And the current economy doesn't leave me breathing room to start up another chance of getting back up into that 12+ guns that I used to have. I will agree. A recall makes it hard to have faith again.
I bout my GX4 over a year ago for use as my everyday conceal carry. I love it. I also converted it over to the GX4XL and put on a HoloSun sight on it. Yes, I know the HoloSun was about the same price as the GX4, but I figured I wasn't buying just a sight for the GX4, I can put this on any other micro pistol that will accept a red dot sight. I also ride motorcycles, and the size of this is perfect for putting into an IWB holster and it's comfortable when riding. I'm verry happy that my GX4 is not part of the recall, I've checked my serial number many times just to be sure. I love my GX4 and would buy it again.
If you have trigger issues with a dead trigger. Sear and striker surfaces bind up and causing issues. Dremel + fine polish compound to the mating surfaces (mirror finish) will fix the issue and also make wall much crisper. feed ramp doesn't need polish, but do it too to prevent any future feeding issues. also mirror finish the ammo slide ramp.
So far I like my Gx4.I was thinking about getting a smaller gun to replace my kel tec p3at and the gx4 fit just what I wanted.I looked at other micro nines but this one had a better feel. But I still carry my kel tec p3at
I got a PT111/G2C about 7yrs ago and the GX4 Toro about 2 yrs ago. I wish the GX4 had the double action trigger of my G2C. However I carry they both about the same amount. They are nice guns. It's not that they are less of a gun they just aren't over priced like a Glock..,
I can answer how many rounds before it malfunctions. I had a little over 6000 rounds before my firing pin melted down a few mm. My gun still fired but when I would shoot cheap ammo like Winchester white box I kept getting light primer strikes because of it. Truthfully if you buy a GX4 just go ahead and switch out the firing pin with the lakeline firing pin. If you don’t know how to replace just the pin they have a whole assembly you could buy. Besides that I’ve never had a issue with my GX4 it was even in the recall but before the recall was even announced I tried a hundred different methods to see if the gun would go off and it never did (I’m not a professional, I tried a bunch of unorthodox shit. You probably shouldn’t try it at home) so I never sent it. The firing pin has been the only issue
Mine has only about 800 rounds threw it but never had a issue I found with the 13 round mag full wouldn’t chamber correctly but if I have 12 in it not issues good review
Inexpensive doesn’t mean cheap. Every review I see commends this little 9mm yet everyone says “until you can afford an upgrade?!”For what ? It’s polymer and steel with a good design that shoots well. No shame in keeping it and I bet it can cycle 10000 rounds like any other higher priced 9mm. My reflex absolutely sucked! Nothing but issues and FN was no help at all! I’m seriously thinking about getting this one! Thanks for the review!
I bought a gx4 when first came out paid 369 tax an transfer fee was 400 dollars made better first edition example had recalls on them mine was not a recall got the bronze top gun prices have dropped will go up after election good video it is what it is good gun
Excellent excellent video !! Very thorough and informative Just picked one up today and looking forward to shooting it real soon Love your excitement about Taurus pistols I have the G2, G3C, PT92 and now the GX4. Never had any problems, ZERO, in all my years and thousands of rounds through them !!
I have the gx4 but have not shot it yet. I love the ergonomics! However, while dry firing and cycling my slide the firing pin/ striker assembly broke. I just got toro replacement slide and will have to test functionality. It was a bit disappointing to say the least
I seen an accuracy test with some high priced handguns. The G3 Tactical took second place. The Beretta 92FS won but not by much. I personally have a G3 and it’s very accurate. Great video has usual and I think you’re right about the bad press against Taurus. Thank you for what you do.
I’m sold on the GX4 models from Taurus! I have the original, Toro and now the Carry versions! Just wanted to mention that the carry has a 15 round magazine and it fits in all versions of the GX4 so buy them for self defense purposes! Yes they do hang below the bottom but who cares in a firefight!
Love the GX4. One of the best designed guns in my opinion. That finish is terrible though. It's almost like you have to include a Cerakote finish into the price. I've seen some places selling them already Cerakoted for almost the same price you can find them with the stock finish... so when I get one, I'm definitely going to get a Cerakoted one or will have it Cerakoted as soon as I get it. (and one good thing is that you don't have to feel bad about removing the factory finish, because it sucks anyways).
@@leonardpiskacsr.7111 Nice. Yeah, the Tungsten (Cerakote) finish is by far the best. Cerakote in general is one of the best finishes (coatings) of them all. It just has to be done right though. Have seen some seriously bad Cerakote jobs where is can be scraped off with a finger nail and even flakes of like snow when the gun is being fired. I believe that very soon we're going to see new finishes that make cerakote look like water color paint though.
I own two GX4’s a regular one and a GX4 XL TORO .. Great little pistol I can pretty much afford any of the micro 9’s I will not own a SIG … S&W Shield Plus is basically the size of the G3C .. and honestly.. the Shield Plus didn’t impress me , at least the one I rented , the Hellcat … just didn’t feel right The GX4 is my most carried pistol.. I probably have close to 2K through it .. I had to stoppages.. One was with steel case ammo the other was ammo related.. a dud
I don't think this is a gun to get until you can get a better gun. I have one and love it. Sure, I want a P365 and a Hellcat but that's just because I want them. It has nothing to do with replacing the GX4. It's a great little gun period.
I got one in September and after 50 rounds had to send it back for warranty repairs… and it’s still not working correctly, so it’s back at Taurus awaiting the 2nd round of repairs…
20 to 30 thousand rounds? Unless you're reviewing guns for rounds fired without problems, I don't think most people are ever going to fire that many rounds, if I'm like other folks. I've fired maybe 10,000 through my oldest gun which I bought in 1985. And I even think that's way too many. Anyway, thanks for the review of the GX4.
Taurus makes a great service to the American consumer. It works as a barrier to the absurd prices that renowned companies charge for their guns. If today there is already overpricing in so-called “top-notch” guns, imagine without companies like Taurus that deliver decent weapons and offer an option to the consumer at fair prices. Without Taurus, which has a significant share of the American market, these companies would be charging even more for the "name" stamped on the guns.
Personally, I Love My Taurus GX4 9mm. 650 rounds thru it Without a single negative issue from the firearm. One of the Best hand guns I ever owned, Period. Price be damned... I only use Stickyholster
Yessir! It’s on the list. I usually wait a bit before buying a new release in case there are issues. I’ve learned my lesson too many times. Respect and thanks for watching
I've checked out hte GX4 carry at the stores. It's real nice. That trigger. I've been looking for something that compares with the trigger on the S&W Shield 2.0 Plus. And Taurus is gonna give them one hell of a run for their money, assuming that reliability and durability are there with the Carry. Tho, size may be a factor. It's got a carry sized grip. And the length of the GX4 XL. (Which is like... an inch longer than the original GX4?) That may not work for some, may be more desireable for others. But yeah, I've been wanting him to do a vid on it too. Understand and agree with his reasoning tho. He buys his.
I really like this gun....BUT the mag release button can be accidentally pressed while it is holstered. In its present state, that makes the gun very unreliable. I carry it with an Alien Gear IWB holster in the right 4:00 position. IMHO, the button sticks out too far. On more than 1 occasion I had to reengage the mag, and once, the mag came completely out and landed on my car seat. I'm going to have to grind down the mag release button to make it more flush with the grip frame.
Hop carried a Gx4 for a while. He’s a firearm “snob” and carried it. I wish Taurus would redo the pt145. Sub compact 10+1 45 acp. I carry shadow systems mr920 with a shadow comp… but Taurus has a niche.
So do you think its safe to say the ones in the stores now dont have that recall problem? Wonder because i wantbto get this for my wife, she doesn't want any of my other firearms because there a little bigger size from compact to full size. So i figured this would be a great first firearm for her.
I love my gx4 i want another one ✔️ It 2x's on the recall list not affected...you can bash taurus all you want ill take it over highpoint or a stick anyday ...shout out SPN
Not bragging at all here, but I have the means to buy pretty much any handgun for everyday carry I want,,,I chose this one, and do not regret it one bit, it wears good, performs outstanding and meets everyone of my expectations for everyday carry. I highly recommend!

@@moose9410are you really gonna stereotype lower priced guns malfunction more than higher priced guns? Look up Sigs issues. @@Roosternurse I agree sig has issues too, I’m just saying a budget priced firearm will be more likely. I’ve owned Taurus g3c, g2c and full size g3c the full size gave me nothing but problems.
Their G3 series is way better imo. I had a Gx4 and the mag would drop while I would shoot. I sent it in for repairs and it came back even worse. Had to get rid of it. I never had an issue with the G3 series though and put hundreds of rounds through both of my G3 C’s. Just my experience.
After 2k plus rounds and CCW in a couple of different holsters but I'm not seeing the wear & tear you mention. I have a photo but don't know how to upload here.
There’s no reason to crap on Taurus anymore especially with the home runs they’ve had over the last 6 or 7 years! I don’t need a Gx4 or GS2 or 3 cause I’ve got a dozen other pistols in that class. But imo they make the best 22 semi auto in the TX22, the Judge I had was awesome and some of their newer revolvers seem good, hell the Raging Hunter was 2019 gun of the year!?! My Tracker in 44mag has been flawless. 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Bro! Love your videos, but I need your advice… I’m looking to purchase my 1st handgun, and I’ve narrowed it down to 3 guns. I am debating between the IWI Masada Slim, Springfield Hellcat Pro, & the M&P 2.0 Compact (3.6 inch)… what are your thoughts & which would you make your first handgun? Thanks bro
I love my Taurus GX4 and it has been very accurate. While I still consider my G2C to be my EDC, I enjoy carrying the GX4 and have been carrying it quite a bit lately. I have put night sights on both since I am generally carrying one or the other. Thanks for the video and keep shooting 👍😊.

Great video SPN! I forget, do you have a shield plus 13+1? I can't wait to compare it to my Masada S, MC9, and G43x MOS. It's been hard to change from my G26 and G43x as my 2 main carry choices but, I'm thinking the shield plus might do it! I'm getting the optics ready version. (Gotta love layaway😂)
The GX4 is one my EDC along with the sheild plus and 43X the GX4 is a good carry option for anyone I personally love mine Taurus has come a long way from what the use too be good reviews as always and how has your MC9 an FN Reflex been running and would you recommend them for carry operations?
How would you compare it to the shield plus? Been looking at something diff from my hellcat and 43x and have been looking at the smith cuz that trigger feels unreal but the gx4 has caught my eye as well
@@Draxzywill the Sheild Plus is a great gun it’s comes with a 10 and 13 round magazines and you can also get 15 round magazines the sheild has a great trigger and it comes with night sights and the grip is also great the GX4 comes with 11 and 13 round magazine the trigger is smooth also too both can be cancelled easily and the GX4 doesn’t come with night sights but both guns can be bought in optics ready over all like both no complaints as yet but I still need too do more range time with both.
Can someone please answer this for me because I haven’t gotten a 100% answer online. Is the Troy Coyote Tan / Bronze color a cerakote? I’ve seen a bunch of comments complaining about the wear & tare of the slide
Dude…what the hell WHY would you send it back just because it wouldn’t chamber a round right out of the box??😂 my god…bro….omg. Waste of time dude. Rack the slide, oil it, work on it. Don’t just send it back…ugh man I wish you would have asked around for some advice first.

Snagged the GX4 carry for $300! Shoots great! Insane value for the $!
Got mine in Tungsten....no issues with finish
@@leonardpiskacsr.7111 Nice. Yeah, the Tungsten (Cerakote) finish is by far the best. Cerakote in general is one of the best finishes (coatings) of them all. It just has to be done right though. Have seen some seriously bad Cerakote jobs where is can be scraped off with a finger nail and even flakes of like snow when the gun is being fired. I believe that very soon we're going to see new finishes that make cerakote look like water color paint though.
I would definitely pay more for a good finish myself
@@ericnorton9748 Yeah, it's a very important part of the gun and it's worth a couple extra bucks.
I own two GX4’s a regular one and a GX4 XL TORO ..
Great little pistol
I can pretty much afford any of the micro 9’s
I will not own a SIG … S&W Shield Plus is basically the size of the G3C .. and honestly.. the Shield Plus didn’t impress me , at least the one I rented , the Hellcat … just didn’t feel right
The GX4 is my most carried pistol..
I probably have close to 2K through it .. I had to stoppages.. One was with steel case ammo the other was ammo related.. a dud
Don’t know if you seen my request on the Gc3 video, but thank you very much for this review! May just get it as my next pick up much love!
I don't think this is a gun to get until you can get a better gun. I have one and love it. Sure, I want a P365 and a Hellcat but that's just because I want them. It has nothing to do with replacing the GX4. It's a great little gun period.
I got one in September and after 50 rounds had to send it back for warranty repairs… and it’s still not working correctly, so it’s back at Taurus awaiting the 2nd round of repairs…
bravo concealment holster....your opinion
Love mine and still carry when I need something smaller! Thanks for the vid!
This was my choice over the other pistol I considered, the shield plus. It's an excellent pistol in my experience.
Not my main squeeze however, when I need a smaller carry it is the gx4. Love it
Outshooting staccatos. Really is mostly about skill. Youre just better?! Lol respect man. Inspiring me to train more. Keep up the awesome content
Great review, one of my favorite EDC! Addition to my Glock 27!
Will you be checking out the gx4 carry I would like a review on that?
Yessir! It’s on the list. I usually wait a bit before buying a new release in case there are issues. I’ve learned my lesson too many times. Respect and thanks for watching
@@spnfirearmsyeah, me too! 😂 😂😂
The crazy thing is this video pops up for me now right after I just came back from the store looking at it
Your phone listens to you and the people talking around you. It will recommend you content about what you are talking about.
Hey bro!! I gotta know where you got that 17 round magazine!! I found a 15 round mag, but that 17 is calling my name!! I need a link!! 🥺🥺
Hop carried a Gx4 for a while. He’s a firearm “snob” and carried it.
I wish Taurus would redo the pt145. Sub compact 10+1 45 acp.
I carry shadow systems mr920 with a shadow comp… but Taurus has a niche.
In a way I think I should have gotten the Gucci Glock aka Shadow System CR920 but instead opted for the 43x MOS. But economics got in the way
So do you think its safe to say the ones in the stores now dont have that recall problem? Wonder because i wantbto get this for my wife, she doesn't want any of my other firearms because there a little bigger size from compact to full size. So i figured this would be a great first firearm for her.
I love my gx4 i want another one ✔️ It 2x's on the recall list not affected...you can bash taurus all you want ill take it over highpoint or a stick anyday ...shout out SPN
Recently got my GX4, it was not part of the recall. Tested it to be sure. Had a few out of battery problems but i think its me holding it wrong
I bought a new one for my son-in-law, then I bought one for myself, a used one with laser for $265
Not bragging at all here, but I have the means to buy pretty much any handgun for everyday carry I want,,,I chose this one, and do not regret it one bit, it wears good, performs outstanding and meets everyone of my expectations for everyday carry. I highly recommend!
Well you probably should have bought a Glock or an sig 😂 why would you pick a Taurus if you could have bought “any” gun you wanted?
@@moose9410 umm probably because I choose not to spend more money to have something that does the same as the Taurus,,it’s a long lost idea of being smart with your money, I don’t play into the “I carry a Sig or Glock” game,, heaven forbid if I ever need to use it the person on the other side of the barrel doesn’t give a rats ass if they are shot with a Sig or Glock or a Taurus
@@Roosternurse true…but cheaper guns are more likely to malfunction. It’s just a fact my guy
@@moose9410are you really gonna stereotype lower priced guns malfunction more than higher priced guns? Look up Sigs issues. Really my dude, know what you are talking about before you troll someone, most malfunctions occur due to ammo issue or user, not the weapon system, go to the range learn your weapon, learn the ammo that works in the weapon the best, and put the time in, know what to do if a malfunction does happen,,here’s a little secret, all weapons malfunction, not just lower priced ones, and that is an actual fact. Read your own comments on other post, the Glock one in particular!
@@Roosternurse I agree sig has issues too, I’m just saying a budget priced firearm will be more likely. I’ve owned Taurus g3c, g2c and full size g3c the full size gave me nothing but problems.
I have one and straight up love it's my main EDC
Seems to be an ok firearm, my mom got one then a week later we had to sent it in for the recall so she lost confidence in it
Their G3 series is way better imo.
Where did you find it for 240$?
Thanks bro
Yeeeeeee🤙🏾
I love my Taurus 856 38 special 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Me too
Do you have a high point?
I love my Taurus GX4 and it has been very accurate. While I still consider my G2C to be my EDC, I enjoy carrying the GX4 and have been carrying it quite a bit lately. I have put night sights on both since I am generally carrying one or the other. Thanks for the video and keep shooting 👍😊.
Since you've covered the G3C and GX4 are you going to cover their XL variants?
I would see how it shoots compared the a Glock 26 .
Bro! Which shop did you find it under 300$ I will order one tomorrow…??
Most gun guy’s especially the ones with money cant shoot for nothing lol glad you clowned them with a $250 pistol hahaha😅
Hey bro i was gonna get the taurus th40 but the aim sights was slipping off a guys gun and that wasnt safe i need something for concealmean i love taurus and i am a taurus LOL
There is a Gx4 carry model now 🤯
The GX4 is one my EDC along with the sheild plus and 43X the GX4 is a good carry option for anyone I personally love mine Taurus has come a long way from what the use too be good reviews as always and how has your MC9 an FN Reflex been running and would you recommend them for carry operations?

Ok, what's a good pocket holster for the Smith & wesson 340pd revolver
I would check Vedder or Alabama holsters!
@@spnfirearms does the Alabama holsters have retention?
Xl model knocks it out of the park
Can someone please answer this for me because I haven’t gotten a 100% answer online. Is the Troy Coyote Tan / Bronze color a cerakote?
I’ve seen a bunch of comments complaining about the wear & tare of the slide
I have never seen a gx4 for 240 dollars
This trigger needs to be on the G3C
How does it do with hollow points?
We love you spn
Curious about a review on the gx4 carry
Where did you get that for $240?
I got mine for $220 from a local pawn shop came with one magazine no box
Just bought one, and it wouldn’t chamber a round right out of the box sent it back to Taurus 4 weeks ago still waiting
Dude…what the hell WHY would you send it back just because it wouldn’t chamber a round right out of the box??😂 my god…bro….omg. Waste of time dude. Rack the slide, oil it, work on it. Don’t just send it back…ugh man I wish you would have asked around for some advice first.
Get it back yet?
G3X better than Gx4 to me. Easier to shoot. Micro is nice tho.
Mine came with the back strap
Good vid.
Where do you live that you can get this gun for $240? I just picked one up for 375
Family Firearms has it today for $232
Ho una Taurus pt 809 fino a ora ha sparato 6.000 colpi senza alcun problema
I say that’s a win a automatic Taurus 😂
Like you, I love a gun with honest wear on the exterior. My Glock 32 got some holster wear early on in its life and it just looks so cool now!
Where did you find it for $240.00 ?thanks 😮
Family firearms has them today for $232
Got mine for $220 at a pawn shop
had a tarus gx4 and got robbed for it a month ago 😕
I shoot extremely well with the GX4.
Please, give us a dishonest review
Gx4 SUCK ASS. They shoot like a cannon, are inaccurate, and have light-strike issues!
