I've been watching these old Thames TV news reports lately and I have to say this is really high quality journalism which seems to be missing today. Studying the Iran-Iraq war is pretty difficult in English.
Boring, inaccurate, opinion. Journalism was not better previously than it is now. There is still plenty of quality journalism, the only difference is now there are way more platforms for journalism, which enables lower quality media masquerading as journalism to reach people. Back in this time period we only had a small amount of platforms for journalism, which is bad in itself. Your problem is you are unable to identify and distinguish low quality journalism, things like clickbait, from the high quality journalism. The low quality stuff exists because people enjoy reading it, they want the hysteria, they want the scaremongering, they want the agenda. By the way you are being deluded by nostalgia also, people love to pretend the past was better when it objectively wasn't by many measures. You just don't want quality journalism, or you'd seek it out. You don't want to read long form reports or investigative reports. You just want to read provocative headlines and watch short misleading clips.
This channel and its content is the most electrifying thing I have found on UA-cam in the past year or so, absolutely fantastic historical stuff mostly from the Cold War era when I was growing up
