Urus and Purosangue in the same comparison video, that's going to be hard to manage given that Lamborghini doesn't give magazines an Urus to compare with the Purosangue, unless both cars are provided by some customer.
I cannot honestly believe you totally missed out on the biggest selling point of the Purosangue. Come on lads, it is the naturally aspirated V12! That alone sells the car because there is simply nothing like it on the market. No V8 turbo can match the visceral driving experience of a V12, both in terms of how you can rev it out and of course as well as its amazing accompanying soundtrack. Also, the luggage capacity doesn't matter when you are driving Purosangue. If you are going on a long trip, it will be with your significant other and not with a truckload of kids. The winner of this group test no doubt is the Ferrari. If you are after comfort and practicality with a touch of sportiness, then we are talking about a different category of SUVs already. This could be a problem when it comes to enthusiastic EVs. Part of the fun of driving such a car is the sound of the engine. I enjoy the growl from my Cooper S convertible when you push it. I had great fun trying to keep up with a Kia Niro electric. The little mini accelerated with gusto with growl from exhaust a slight whine from gearbox and a whistle from the turbo and felt like it enjoyed the challenge. I bet the Niro driver barely noticed just how quick they accelerated from 30 to 60. I only just kept up! You really need a sound track. Surely by now they could minic a V8 or V12 and play it through the soundsystem and im not talking about that awful electronic racket that most noise synthesisers in cars achieve. A lot more high fidelity than that. The silence of an EV is preferable to a modern turbo 4 cyclinder petrol or diesel , but compared to a performance 6, 8 or 12 cylinder you dont get that tingle down the spine. If you spend close to 100k, you want that. I've had memorable drives in Porsche boxster 987 and mercedes SLK 55AMG and if they were silent I'm not sure they'd be as memorable. So then it's down to the chassis and the weight is a problem when it comes to making the car fun.
Nice review. With the cases, for the exotica and more normal cars, could you also test with full sized suitcases (90L) that people actually use to take on holiday. Very odd pairing or was this done by design with Whatcar? The Ferrari retails at over £300K and yet they picked a the Lotus at a third of the price and not even the quickest model, I think they wanted the Ferrari to look good.
DBX 707 is a glaring omission - Bentley shouldn’t have been there at all. For the price of the Lotus (1/4 the Ferrari and 1/3 the Bentley) won hands down. The Eletre R would have been the fastest, best tech and most luggage space and best priced. You guys can do better…
This is a silly test. The price difference alone makes it a complete mess. But the cars themselves are all completely different; aimed a different types of buyers. The only commonality it that they all wear badges which hint at sporting prowess but even that’s a stretch when you look at what Bentley has produced for most of its history. I mean no one who is in the market for the Ferrari would be also considering an electric SUV a third of the price from any manufacturer, especially one with lotus’ reputation. Likewise most high end EV buyers are not going to go ‘you know what, I think I’ll buy a giant gin palace on wheels that gets 19mpg instead’. You've just let’s motoring journalism down a bit here.
Curiosity got me watching this. These cars all fall within my budget but I honestly can't think of a single reason why I'd buy any one of them. This test is like a step back in time. Aren't we in 2024? They just look so yesterday.
Ferrari absolutely the kings of rip off! Lotus just a big electric lump. Bentayga a reskinned Audi at over twice the price! All rather silly if you ask me.
Clichéd comments.... The same negativity accompanied the Cayenne's entrance 20-odd years ago. If the Lotus were made entirely in England, you would have had a different opinion... The Eletre is simply stunning for the price. The end.
I think the review on the lotus would be very different if you had tested the R variant which would have smoked both cars on speed and been just as competitive on the driving and corners etc. Comparing the S to the bentley and ferrari is not the one.
The Ferrari is the emotional choice ~ The Bentley the logical choice ~ The Lotus's looks let down the whole package for me. Therefore I'd take the recently revealed & updated , DBX 707
I 'll choose the Bentley by far.....!!!! Ultra Comfort and Ultra Luxury..... If you don't won't these in a SUV and you want sportiness you don't know what you are doing.... Is the same like you want to have a classic car because of its fuel consumption and not for the style and history.
In this test, which is a bit unfair or just odd, is there really a question ? The Purosangue has a NA Ferrari V12. No other SUV stands a chance. I think the only one that could stand against it is the all new DBX707 and maybe the new Urus ( something ), even tho I think it has a bit of its appeal. And to talk about Lotus heritage and then talk about a battery is really not the way
The first charge from home and the last charge at home would make it considerably cheaper to fuel. But as you say if you can afford these cars you won’t care
Can the Eletre not use cheaper Tesla rapid chargers? Also awaiting rants from anti-EV brigade about how huge it is etc etc ... whilst ignoring the other 2 beasts! :)
2.07 mi/kwh is truly horrendous. I’d rather put up with the sun 20 mpg of the Bentley or better still buy a Urus. 57 Eletres for sale on Auto Trader, which doesn’t bode well for residuals
25:40 I feel these manufacturers have the public well and truly duped. I can guarantee that if you do a blind fold test, people will not be able to tell the difference between plastic and carbon fibre, so why pay these ridiculous amounts of money just for random bits of trim to he carbon fibre.
The Lotus isn‘t a Lotus as it is made in China, the Ferrari isn‘t an SUV and the Bentley is a hybrid of Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7 underneath - But would be my choice, if they only would sell it with having a filler cap, made of real aluminium instead of plastics(typically Volkswagen beancounters) for a car at this price point 😉
That Lotus will get no where near 300 miles, Harry Metcalfe reckons you'll be lucky to get 200! The Ferrari is my favourite but I'll never be able to afford one anyway! I think the Aston DBX should be considered too. That Bentley is like a Chesterfield sofa on wheels!

You mentioned the Porsche SUV.... but you forgot that when it was released EVERYONE thought it was pig ugly for a Porsche.
Is it really THAT expensive to charge in the U.K.? Honestly, charging is less than half that in Denmark!
The fact that a Bentley and Ferrari are being driven with a Lotus is enough said. I would 100% choose the Lotus and bank the rest of the cash.
They are doing advertisements for vw, disguised as car review, don't trust these reviewers, make your own judgement and test the car yourself...
I mean the Ferrari running costs are too much to run as a daily and family trips so might as well get Bentley for that and a Roma for the weekends.
if you can own a 400k € car which is even sold in the aftermarket for close to 700-900k € i think the running cost is the least of your problems
Curiosity got me watching this. These cars all fall within my budget but I honestly can't think of a single reason why I'd buy any one of them. This test is like a step back in time. Aren't we in 2024? They just look so yesterday.
Fantastic video! What a truthful and fair lowdown and the end.
For me it’s the Ferrari ❤
the trend of putting headlights lower must end
Ferrari absolutely the kings of rip off! Lotus just a big electric lump. Bentayga a reskinned Audi at over twice the price!
All rather silly if you ask me.
Wealthy statement vehicles for city posing rather than sensible SUVs
Any would play nicely in the suburbs too. For school drop offs and grocery getting.
Clichéd comments.... The same negativity accompanied the Cayenne's entrance 20-odd years ago.
If the Lotus were made entirely in England, you would have had a different opinion...
The Eletre is simply stunning for the price. The end.
No Range Rover or Aston? Missed a good all round test opportunity
*_The Lotus 24/7 365 d/y!!_*
If you want a buy a Big Luxurious SUV you buy a Range Rover of your choice. Or if you want a Sporty Luxurious Car buy an Audi S8
If you charged at home on 7.5p/kWh overnight (and every Eletre owner will have home charging), the Lotus fuel cost would be £17.92.
I 'll choose the Bentley by far.....!!!! Ultra Comfort and Ultra Luxury..... If you don't won't these in a SUV and you want sportiness you don't know what you are doing.... Is the same like you want to have a classic car because of its fuel consumption and not for the style and history.
You shouldn’t have put the lotus in, should have been the Aston 707 suv that’s had the new infotainment fitted
Ferrari & lotus are beautiful, Bentley make amazing cars but they’ve messed up big time with the looks of the bentayga !!
just get the top of the Line Lotus and charge it over night for 30p instead of 80. No one pays 80.
No Land Cruiser?
Is it the four seat configuration? Yes, it is the four seat configuration not the five…… x5
That's one US dollar per kw/h. That's got to be the most expensive electricity ever. It's like 10 times more expensive than it could be
2.07 mi/kwh is truly horrendous. I’d rather put up with the sun 20 mpg of the Bentley or better still buy a Urus. 57 Eletres for sale on Auto Trader, which doesn’t bode well for residuals
Love the Purosangue!!
25:40 I feel these manufacturers have the public well and truly duped. I can guarantee that if you do a blind fold test, people will not be able to tell the difference between plastic and carbon fibre, so why pay these ridiculous amounts of money just for random bits of trim to he carbon fibre.
Are you on drugs? I don’t look at my car with a blindfold on.
Well you can easily get the 300miles with the Lotus if you drive efficiently
@@MAM-x3s I think you may get over 250, up to 280 in warmer weather
@@TheHutchRuns I have an Eletre. And I do get more than 300 miles if I drive efficiently. But I shall point out that I rarely drive efficiently. I bought this car to drive in a sporty way.
@@MAM-x3s haha
If this is Ultimate SUV test what Lotus is doing there ? Where is Lambo instead ? Typical English approach lobbying Lotus.
Watch the video till the end, Lambo is scared to give an Urus to magazines for comparisons with the Purosangue.
@@valkyries_007 than don’t compere Ferrari to Lotus just do Ferrari and Bentley. Just made me thinking, maybe, just maybe those people at Lambo are right to be afraid because you are always biased like this time with Lotus.
@@pevvex4452 Nah Lambo did the same thing even when there was no Lotus in the comparison. It was a comparison test involving the Bentayga, Purosangue and DBX on CAR Magazine.
So electric cars are no longer cheaper to run, but you spend half your day charging them. What then is the advantage over gas?
Cars aren’t about dashboard materials and size of iPads. Maybe it’s about the journey …. Crazy. We went from
BMW driving machine to identical EVs
What I learned: 79p p/kw....that's an industry absolutely price gouging
Lotus needs torque vectoring
Did anybody else get subscribed to What Car without doing it themselves?
Don’t need to keep saying Sports SUV. An SUV IS a Sports Utility Vehicle so you’re calling it a Sports Sport Utility Vehicle!
How does the Bentley go off-road?
Please, please can everyone on You Tube flash up subtitles when showing any units. Such as ℓ/100km vs MPG and km vs Mi as well we Nm vs lbFt & PS vs KW?
PLEASE.
Not everyone lives in your country and these videos are watched all over the world. I am so sick and tired of pausing the video every few seconds to convert units.
Please just add subtitles during editing.
In Australia we use kW and Nm as well as km and ℓ/100km.
pointless if you don't compare the purosangue to the other two with top specs
bro is rocking a moonswatch lol
where is the lamborghini urus ?
We do explain near the end of the video… We asked Lamborghini for a Urus but they refused to supply for a comparison against the Purosangue.
Too vulgar. The Ferrari only barely made it😂
@@whatcarInteresting, they also did the same with another magazine comparison. Also, what about the DBX?
DBX707?
just by the video i can identify that the lotus is a way quieter vehicle than the ferrari how in the hell that guy driving the lotus will comeup with the conclusion thst the ferrari has less interior noise? thats crazy
Why would they call their suv "pure blood"?
bigger and bigger, heavier and heavier, soon we all be driving Daf trucks :) kinda stupid really when we look at it, should be looking at low damage structures and a race to light weight to protect our kids, not things that will knock down a school not just a pedestrian :)
Great comparison - one German car (Bentley), One Chinese car (Lotus) and a real Italian supercar on stilts. Money no object? The Ferrari hands down. The Bentley is a good day to day driver. Well the Eletre is....not my cup of Chinese tea, sorry. Why is electricity so expensive in the UK?
Because its being sold from a hotel
Urus
G63amg coupe
calling it the ultimate SUV test without Urus, Cayenne, DBX, etc is not worth watching...
Lambo isn't going to participate if there's a Purosangue in the test! 😂 They did the same with CAR Magazine as well!
A Seal U would be even better than these overpriced SUV’s .
