Nice video. I will not make light of your portages, but, for comparison, you might enjoy watching some of Jim Baird's videos when he is solo canoeing way up North. BTW - they say CRAW fish in Louisiana.

We haven’t found these to be that bad especially with our lighter boat / gear. We had a hell of a time on the Sayward Canoe Route and still joke about that that. This one took us about 30 minutes but we’ve seen comments about it taking people 3 hours

You should have stopped and looked for cross rocks below blanchard. One of only a few places to find them.

That would be a tough walk if you were solo! Paddle On!

Another good video. The big ticks can infect you too but not as likely as the deer ticks. I was taught to cut ALL ticks in half. A one Tater's powered outboard motor seemed like the way to go. That was a tougher portage than I ever remember doing. That fawn was probably less than 2 months old. The doe that hangs around here had her fawn last week. Happy paddling. Good Luck, Rick

Good video Y'all! I visited the Lindberg Museum. I was traveling by motorcycle and had a completely different viewpoint.

At least you didn't have to carry it all the way on the portage. Sorry your latte was not purchased, but you can make up for it with a 4 cup morning😜

Fun fact…even when fawns get separated they know to lay down and wait on their Moms. And the Moms find them by smelling them…but no other animal can smell a fawn except it’s Mom so they stay safe until Mom sniffs them out again.

Every farmer knows that you take your ever-present pair of pliers out and smooosh any and all ticks you find.

Canoe vs kayak, is it strictly a storage capacity difference?

Kayaks seem to be faster. Canoe is more comfortable to sit in / easier to get in and out. Kayak paddles / steering feels a bit more natural to me

This was a 3a difficulty class portage… (The number of “a” included in the word Portage in the thumbnail.)

Minnesota needs millions of turkeys, they will fight with ticks. One turkey can eat thousands of thicks per day...

you should take your time, you need more duct tape to block mosquito ingress, please think about more solar and antenna tech - think about cheap fishing gear - think about a cell booster, think about another battery pak, consider advil some nsaid rx for the joints but go lite on those - all rx is not all it is cracked up to be - consider some lite surge tube therapy and maybe shark cartilage tabs - you should be able to work through it but also take some days off here and there - report on what works for you #burn in water, drown in fire
