I am really hoping they get Storm right. She’s so goated in Claremont run of the x-men. I hope the movies can translate her character well from that era mostly.
Kurt is my favorite X-Men. He's just so sweet, sometimes he feels the most human out of all of them. So warm, and I love his power as well. His backstory, his appearance. He is just... I love that guy.
I have loved Nightcrawler so much since I was a kid. He looks cool, he is blue, he has a tail, he is kind as can be, his power rocks, he is a swordsman, and Logan’s nick name of endearment to him is “Elf”. In the 90’s I was a really little kid and my dad and I were at the mall and he took me to a comic store. He bought me a four issue Nightcrawler series that was so trippy and wild. I only realized later that they were first editions. I have them to this day and while they may not be crazy valuable like an X-Men #1 may be, they are treasures to me because they remind me of my dad and were the introduction to a character I love.
As a black woman who watches your channel THANK YOU for looking at dark skinned actors for the fan cast! It might seem petty to some non-POCs but it's really not. There is huge history around how negatively dark skinned people/actors have be treated (research colorism). Storm being dark skinned is IMPORTANT.
I just hope the PC police don't cause them to change storm. Her hair, eyes etc should be exactly like the comics PLEASE don't give her an afro, they have been overdoing the afro for multiple video game and film black characters to the point they're all starting to blend together. Besides, Storm is Kenyan, she's East African, not West African, her features, her hair etc should look comics accurate like East Africans. East Africans are different featured than west, many don't have wide noses, have straighter hair, less bantu features in general, like Storm
I really hope Marvel has Chris Claremont cameo in all the X-Men movies (à la Stan Lee). Stan and Jack birthed the mutants, but Claremont made them into what they are.
I was going to say "Wasn't Christ Claremont the guy who kept getting in trouble for calling immagrants ungrateful little shits and calling transgender people pedophiles?" but then I THANKFULLY did a ten second google search and remembered I was thinking of John Byrne XD. Yea, sure, get Claremont in there, he seems like a neat dude, he's done tons of charity work for HIV/AIDS awareness and he's given absurd amounts of money to libraries and literacy campaigns around the world. And he's done lots of work tracking down seemingly lost texts for rare and lost manuscript preservation societies.
Something I'd like them to highlight with Storm is that "we can bicker sometimes but we got each others' backs and we don't even have to say it" relationship with Wolverine. Also make her the co-leader for the X-Men, she deserves that role.
@@ziglaus Because she has led the team multiple times throughout the comics (even having a split team lead with Cyclops in the 90s) and has yet to be shown even a true fraction of her potential in the movies
@@ziglaus she literally won a hand to hand combat against Cyclops while she was DEPOWERED for the team leadership, let alone the multiple teams she has lead since her introduction
When it comes to Thunderbird, you could change their origin story a little bit. John dies in a flashback or early on the movie, making that James decides to take up the offer Xavier gave his older brother instead. Its not that difficult, and if the audience sees a bit of their relationship it will help people cling to James better.
If they do go the older brother rout, I hope they give him different powers from the younger one, so its not a carbon copy because that did bug me in the comics. Siblings usually have similar powers but its never a carbon copy. I don't know about twins though. But now that I think of it, Betsy Braddock is definitely not the same as her twin Captain Britain.
It makes sense to me that John and James could both join the team as Thunderbird and Warpath respectfully, with very similar powers. John dies to save his brother and the others, making James really commit himself to the idea of being a hero to live up to his brother's example.
This showed me how much I didn't actually know about the origin of the X-men, which is really cool to feel like I am being reintroduced to these characters
As a German guy, I have two things to say: 1. Casting Matthias Schweighöfer for Nightcrawler blew my mind. Never thought of him, because (and i think i talk for most Germans here) I still consider him a very local star. Of course he's pretty well known here, but I never took him that seriously. His appearance in Army Of The Dead was already surreal to me, so when you mentioned him as your top choice here, I must say, I kinda love it. I mean, there are people here (myself included) who sometimes don't like him or never really cared for him or even make fun of him sometimes but to be fair, this could be damn solid casting. Great work there. 2. Since you talked about your pronounciation for Irish and Asian names, lemme just say: You said 'Matthias SCHWEINhöfer' instead of 'SCHWEIGhöfer' but that's just probably a misread lol. Also the Ö is technically mispronounced but its hard for people who dont use Umlaute in their language, so i get it. But the best was the way you said 'Der Jahrmarkt' like its a name. It sounded like when the Japanese VAs in Attack on Titan pronounce German names, and im here for it. It means 'the fair' or 'the circus' btw, for anyone who didnt know. :) Still, really good work here, great video, strong casting, i love it! Keep it up 💪🔥
Nightcrawler is...hard to balance, ironically for such an acrobatic character. He's a laugher, a comedian, a clown, he loved to make other people laugh and to quote errol flynn movies while being one of maybe 10 men alive who can pull off that style of facial hair. but on the other hand he's quiet, contemplative as is the nature of catholic confession and prayer, he listens to people even when they don't need him to SAY anything, only yo know that someone is hearing them. Finding the right actor who can play him at his high octane moments of swinging from the rafters and his moments of clutching his rosary, closing his eyes and looking toward heaven is going to be tough.
He’s just an INFJ. it’s a rare personality type overall, but amongst actors it’s not too uncommon. I’m sure there are plenty of actors who could pull it off, as long as the writers really understand how to write a character like that.
I love the idea of Jodie Turner Smith or Anna Diop as Storm! I’m really glad you mentioned them, I feel like they get left out of Storm fancastings even thought they literally look like Storm ripped off the page. Great job! Please keep this series going!
I am disappointed he didn't give Kiki Layne a shout as Storm though, she's tall, powerful/strong and just so regal. And she's only 28 or 29. Again to emphasize, she's gorgeous, tall, and regal, and is physical in her appearance. You might've seen her in that Netflix movie "The Old Guard" starring opposite Charlize Theron, or as a princess in "Coming to America 2", and she showed her acting chops in that critically acclaimed drama movie "If Beale Street Could Talk". She's amazing.
@@kingmonde I noticed that too. I remember Kiki Layne was actively campaigning for the role of Storm a while back as well. I know she could easily pull off Storm but I really just see Jodie Turner Smith or Anna Diop. I wouldn’t be upset if Marvel cast Kiki though, I just don’t want them to bring Alexandria Shipp back.
@@ashleysmith5427 Storm should be Brown skin though thats whats she's always been 90% of the time. Changing the identity of characters throws things off.
@@SAINTxSZN These women have brown skin though? I don’t think I understand what you’re saying. Storm is a Kenyan princess from Africa, of course someone they cast is going to have brown skin. Also I don’t consider recasting characters to be changing their identity. Marvel may bring some old characters back, but overall I don’t think they are bringing everyone from the Fox universe to the MCU.
For me Storm should be played by an actress from the continent of Africa. To me Storm seems regal with an accent especially given that she grew up in Cairo and Kenya as well.
The X-Men 1 (1991) team! Most of the casting has already been covered, but it fills in the blanks of the other wildly popular characters (Gambit, Rogue, Psyloche, maybe Jubilee, and was Forge kind of on the team at that point, it's been a while?). It is also, still, the best selling single issue comic that has ever been made. Not bad for a 31 year old comic (Jesus, I'm old).
For me personally, the most important thing in casting this team is getting the Colossus/Storm/Nightcrawler chemistry right, I really see that sort of sibling dynamic where Kurt and Piotr are just broing about, hitting the town together, just being lovely to everyone, and then Orroro as the big sister who's a calming influence when the boys get carried away, and who can always go to them when her mood gets a bit low.
This is the most thoughtful Storm fan casting I’ve seen come from a non-poc X-Men fan! Thank you for doing adequate research and taking into consideration the things black fans want in an MCU Storm! My choices are absolutely Jodie or DeWanda. Michaela would have been perfect as well… still crossing my fingers the Dora leaks aren’t true.
Everybody forgets Banshee's backstory as an Interpol agent was was a very pro undercover operative until his powers were discovered. Marvel themselves have forgotten this a number of times in their incessant retconning of the character. He is, for all intents and purposes, a spy. And being older than most of the team, can operate as a big brother/uncle to the young'uns.
I think a big problem/benefit is that Thunderbird, and Banshee are not as well defined as the other Giant size crew. So the movies could have a lot more freedom if they decided to use them. But I hope, if they do that there’s an effort to give them stronger personalities.
@@meep9231 yeah he would too. But I feel like with Banshee it would help to elevate him to a new status by potentially making him more popular which could then lead to him being more prominent in the comics.
When you brought up Sunfire I was reminded of the lost potential for a Big Hero 6 sequel. Tadashi died in a fire in a building filled with all kinds of scientific experiments, he could’ve gotten fire powers and appeared as a villain who lost his memory in a BH6 sequel that would’ve been really challenging for the whole team to fight, especially Hiro and Baymax. I loved BH6, I wish it got a sequel.
@@nathanl8622 they did a cartoon about the team, did some comics too I think, haven't heard anything about them in years so idk if it'll ever get a sequel, dude who did the voice of Fred has been canceled several times over as well
dont remind me. big hero 6 was probably my favorite animated superhero film (before spiderverse) It had so much potential. Tadashi's death griped me and Hiro was such a fantastic character
I don't see why they have to cast Wolverine right now. There are hundreds of other mutants to choose from without the pressure of living up to Jackman.
Yeah I think it would be better if they do a wolverine movie later, or a hulk movie where they introduce wolverine, and then mix in some of the xmen lineup into the plot to bring him into the team by the end, we need at least one or two movies with the new xmen team before bring wolverine in, and he needs to be a side character when it isn't his movie, so much of the older movies use him way too gratuitously, always peeved me that Cyclops got the back burner and was constantly being cucked by wolverine
Wow, I was literally thinking the exact same thing about Jodie Turner-Smith as a perfect Storm before you even said it. I agree, her role in Queen and Slim won me over as well.
If they do something similar to Giant-Size, the MCU would def bring in Kitty. She debuted a couple of issues after that and is a great newbie audience-stand in character (she was so good at it that the comics re-did her in Jubilee and sort of Pixie, not to mention Rogue in the movies). She's also on par with the level of popularity with the most popular characters in GS (Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler level, and ahead of the rest, although under Wolverine but who isn't). Speaking of Wolverine, he also needs his father-daughter mentor relationship with someone (because it's literally the only time he's interesting, see the movie Logan) and Kitty was the first person to fill that role (if you ignore the various retcons of him doing that in his past). In short, Kitty better be cast in this Wolverine video! Come on!
I also preferred the X2 look of Kurt, Nightcrawler with the raised ornamental scars was such a beautiful design, that opening scene in the White House still hits as hard to this day! Love it completely
Man I didn't take into account Sydelle Noel for the role of Storm. She was awesome in GLOW and was just as imposing as she was beautiful. My original pick for Stom is Tika Sumpter but Noel is a close second. My next pick would be AEW women's champion Jade Cargill. But she's more of an opitmistic risk and reward thing since she doesn't really have any acting chops.
Thunderbird could be easily done in a flashback. Use something like the Mutant Massacre but have it happen more widely and show us John sacrificing himself for James to run. It'd justify him being both X-Men and antagonist whenever you want to adapt either one. You keep their brother plot, you keep the death but make it less mean by making John a proper hero (it'd also be interesting if he comes back in a Krakoan adaptation and we learn he's NOT that heroic and is flawed).
If they do go the older brother rout, I hope they give him different powers from the younger one, so its not a carbon copy because that did bug me in the comics. Siblings usually have similar powers but its never a carbon copy. I don't know about twins though.
@@kingmonde I wouldn't mind being the same one but you could make John more proficient with his and jave James feel less powerful than his brother was, feeling like he was the one that should be alive cause "oh, I'm weak, he was better than me" and then have him develop his powers and become stronher and more confident with time. Also same powers not always mesn same uses. Kamala and Reeds have really similar powers but they fight in completely different ways.
The idea of someone who played a member of the Dora Milaje in Black Panther eventually playing Storm is awesome, for Colossus if Deadpool 3 is MCU cannon and has the character in it they probably wouldn't recast. This channel has great casting predictions, the more I keep thinking about Antonio Banderas as MR. Sinister the move I want it to become a reality, it's such great casting
@@deanjoyner1829 thats not what this guy is saying, otherwise, why would he say its "awesome". I get that the guy in the video was talking about the actor playing a separate character named Storm, but the og comment here was talking about the character of the dora being Storm. Theres a difference.
@@kingmonde I think hes saying its awesome cuz technically shes in the world of the mcu already so she knows the enterworking of the industry. And can build off her Dora Experience as a well rounded Storm as Storm is great in hand to hand combat.
Michaela Coel would’ve been an amazing Storm, but I’ve heard that she’s playing Aneka in Black Panther 2 and will be apart of the Midnight Angels, who will appear again in the Okoye Disney+ show
I don’t think Michaela would the best Storm, she’s has a striking look and definitely has the height/build but she doesn’t have the jaw dropping beauty that Ororo is renowned for.
@@midnitehour1 You personally don’t find her beautiful doesn’t mean she isn’t, also please rethink what you’re saying. It *can* come off as anti blackness (since Michaela has a lot of black features that aren’t seen as Gorgeous to the western society). Again you can personally think she’s not but her being something you can get off to shouldn’t be what gets her the role or not… Not to mention please look at comicbook Storm and look up imagines of Michaela she looks the most like Storm… If you don’t find Michaela jaw dropping Gorgeous you never found Storm that either…
These videos have inspired me to watch all of the X-Men animated shows (the 90s animated series, Wolverine and the X-Men, and X-Men: Evolution, my personal favorite). Thank you, it’s made me love the characters way more!
I would recommend reading the some of the comics on top of the shows as well in order to get the full experience. I really enjoy the shows for what they are, but they definitely do their own thing in different ways. Wolverine and the X-Men: “What if we did X-Men, but Wolverine was the main character?” X-Men Evolution: “What if we did X-Men, but they were all teenagers in high school?” 90s is definitely the most “accurate” but is also just feels like it is doing watered down versions of story arcs at times.
Wolverine Fancast: - Milo Gibson (Nuff Said) - Jared Keeso (Is actually Canadian) - Emile Hirsh - Scott Eastwood (His father was the inspiration for the cover art of his first solo series and the character from that took on a lot of inspiration from his characters however he was originally inspired by Paul D’Amato from the film Slap Shot)
Banshee is Charm. He's not particularly good, he's not particularly evil, he's roguish, fun, and always having a good time whether he's winning, losing, in trouble, or on top of the situation. His energy should be easy and playful, but not goofy like young Bobby Drake
@@osmanyousif7849 If Sadie Sink enters the MCU, I want her to play Mayday Parker, the daughter of Spider-man (Tobey) and MJ. I would love to see a Spider-Man 4 where Tobey's Spider-Man has a daughter he's training to be a hero. Then a Spider-girl sequel that follows her solo. (it could also introduce Spider-Woman)
I cannot wait for the Wolverine video because you're right, whoever the MCU casts as Wolverine is going to break the internet. I also cannot wait for you to get to characters like Rogue, Kitty, Gambit, etc
I’m a massive Banshee fan, he’s probably my favorite x-man although I couldn’t tell you why specifically. It is as a Banshee fan that I say… Banshee, or at least Sean Cassidy, shouldn’t be on this Giant-Size X-Men team in the MCU. I think they should give him the Hank Pym treatment. Have him once have been Banshee, but he’s now older and retired. This lets 2 things happen: Firstly, Sean can serve as a mentor figure to the students of the Xavier Institute like he did in Generation X, and… Secondly, this opens up room for his daughter, Theresa Cassidy (commonly known as Siryn or Morrigan), to be Banshee on this team instead. This helps gender diversity on what is typically a sausage-fest of a team (save for Storm, of course), and I also think Theresa is just a more well-defined character in the comics as well (she’s been through a lot). It’d be a neat mixup of the original source material and I think it would do both characters some justice on the big screen.
Holy, I have to say I love how much respect you give Storm. I feel like most videos I watch about the X-Men, not even just fancasting, don't get how important she is. So I really appreciated this, and I agree the most simple way to capture her is when she walks into a room (or is shown onscreen) people need to go "Whoa, that's an important person." I found Storm by playing Ultimate Alliance as a kid, she immediately caught my eye and I've been hooked ever since.
Can’t wait for the Wolverine casting video. Here are my top 5 actors to play wolverine 1) Jared Keeso (letterkenny) 2) Anthony Starr (The Boys) 3) Wes Chatham (The Expanse) 4) Taron Egerton (Rocketman) 5) Joel Edgerton (Warrior) And I didn’t put in Tom Hardy because he’s Venom, otherwise he’d be my number #1
Great casting choices and I really love what you said about Storm. That is so right, it's why for me Angela Bassett was the bar to reach when casting Storm. It's that regal bearing and the grace and poise coupled with someone who seems ageless. Fantastic casting, my only reason not to cast Sam Heughan as Banshee is I want him available for a bigger character in the MCU. My only real disagreement is with Colossus. Piotr is pretty. Stefan Kapicic is a good-looking guy but Piotr (who is more than six feet, he's 6'6" I think) needs NEEDS to be pretty. So between the two, I'd pick Danila Kozlovsky.
I feel like for thunderbird, they could just have him heroically die in the first movie, like coulson, and then his brother can just join in the next movie
Also, if you make another one of these (Kitty, Psylocke, Rogue, Gambit, Havok...) please also include Forge. I think we can all agree that it's about time we get live action Forge.
I normally don't like fan-cast videos. I just generally find them either unrealistic or they miss the mark on the characters themselves. However, I've watched 3 of your videos now and, I've got to say, you know the characters and your choices are great. You've convinced me to consider actors I wouldn't have before. You have great insights.
My idea of these characters is to have the first class (the original five members) and then have the Giant sized X-Men recruits be extra people who come into the movies and have them all be allies of Charles Xavier as he has history with them all Like he could have met Storm in Egypt maybe fought against the Shadow King, he could be Allies with Banshee through Moira McTagget who could be an old flame and same with the rest he could have travelled and already helped them even Wolverine he could be working with Wolverine to help him with his memory and then he joins the team
Loved your Storm list in particular, Jodi Turner-Smith seems to be favorite, but my personal pick is Kiki Layne from If Beale Street Could Talk and The Old Guard. Shes got the acting chops, and has voiced interest in the role
I think it would be pretty cool if Nakia turns out to be Storm. I know that Storm has a different alter ego, but it wouldn't be the first time Marvel changed the continuity of something from the comics for the movies. Trever Slatery Mandarin, Ego as Star-Lord's father, Ultron being invented by Tony Stark, etc. Depending on how they decide to introduce the X-Men to the MCU, it could actually work.
7:54 DeWanda Wise is definitely my top pick for Storm tbh. Jurassic World Dominion is the only thing I've seen her in, but she made a huge impression on me there & I could definitely see her as Storm.
Wow. I really love how deep you go on what makes these characters and who could play them. As someone who loves the X-Men as they appear in the comics (though I enjoy games, tv, movies) I recognize and appreciate that sharp understanding you bring to these videos.
My pick for Storm has been Zethu Dlomo-Mphahlele since I saw her in Black Sails, she's not as tall as some others but she is incredibly regal, well spoken, and beautiful. She seems like the kind of person who would quiet a room just by walking in, and I think she could carry the sort of weight that comes with Storms quiet, thoughtful brooding. My pick for Nightcrawler is Manny Jacinto , he's got the right physicality and charisma for everyone's favorite swashbuckler.
Do we think they’re gonna do the blue contact lenses for storm? It’s always been one of her more prominent features just because it’s not common in real life
Great picks, man. Jodie Turner Smith would absolutely kill it as Storm, but here’s my cast for the MCU Giant Size X-Men. Deborah Ayorinde as Ororo Munroe/Storm Chaske Spencer as John Proudstar/Thunderbird Jacob Elordi as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus (CGI) Domhnall Gleeson as Sean Cassidy/Banshee Fionn Whitehead as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler Mackenyu as Shiro Yoshida/Sunfire
For Storm they should pick Yetide Badaki who plays goddess of love on American Gods She literally plays a goddess and has that natural presence and grace. She literally feels like Storm.
Giant sized xmen was just so cool. I mean I read it in 2005 when i was a kid enjoying the 90s cartoon but it blew my mind about this hero team from all around the world. I remember being frustrated that nightcrawler was so religious and not that violent lol. Man how I've come to appreciate and love all these characters in their own personalities. Can't wait for the movies.
I should play wolverine. Not joking, Bub. I'm from Canada. I'm 5'9". 32 years old. Gruff but handsome. I've got the right hair. I've got the right build. I can act. I know the sourse material. I'm easy to work with.
Still waiting for the X-Men writers to find the courage to have Storm have an actual conversation with Prof X about why he told her she wasn't a "Goddess"... and was just a mutant. And yes, I wouldn't be surprised if Jodie Turner-Smith does get cast.
I know it really may not gel with the character as you described him, but I really like the idea of Shiro getting with Bobby. Not just for the fire and ice thing but I think they could have an interesting dynamic. Shiro acting as a cold, best guy in the room type while Bobby is a more humble, but still young and energetic presence could lead to some nice interactions I believe. If these mutants are added after the first class, you could have a Bobby at the same age as Shiro. I kind of rationalized it in my head with a scene I made up. So in an Apocalypse scenario, Four mutants have been taken over, the four all have connections to at least one of the mutants fighting against them. After a long battle, Bobby is the only one able to keep up with Shiro after his team is systematically taken out. Bobby is on the ropes and tires. Shiro drops to the ground and aims for Bobby. "You wanna die for me Drake?" Bobby keeps walking. Shiro starts shaking, his personality trying to break through the mind control. "You can't beat us. Come on Bobby just stop." Bobby keeps walking. Apocalypse, seeing through Shiro's eyes is getting frustrated. He makes Shiro lash out, "IS IT WORTH YOUR LIFE? YOU WANNA DIE FOR ME? FIGHTING ME?" Bobby is now right next to Shiro and says "you tell me..." the true Shiro is able to break through for just a moment to ask Bobby for help. Bobby then saves him with some device or they're able to beat up Apocalypse enough yadayada.
The REAL reason Marvel needs to hire you is because you display a GENUINE understanding of the characters that you seek to use. Too often do some characters feel like they're being used for the sake of an easter egg
Worst character Marvel has ever done has to be Taskmaster. Its not even that they changed the gender, I'm not one of those people, its that they completely changed the character.
I think the panel/page that best gets who wolverine is at his best is the opening of his first limited run. The page where he is stalking a bear and fighting it to the death because a hunter hurt it and it would be crueler for the bear to go on living. It really shows that wolverine is one of if not the most compassionate of the x-men. He feels everyone else’s pain so deeply and does his best to make sure no one has to go through unnecessary pain and suffering. It’s what makes him a hero and why people misinterpret him as blood thirsty and callous.
The MAIN thing that needs to be gotten right about Storm in the MCU is that she needs to have BLUE EYES. That’s one of her distinguishing characteristics. So blue contacts need to be applied to the actress that plays her.
nice picks. my choices are Jodie Turner Smith-Storm Forest Goodluck(from The Revenant) as Thunderbird Stefan Kapicic as Colossus Jack Reynor as Banshee James Norton(from 2019's Little Women) as Nightcrawler Lee Jung-Jae(from Squid Game) as Sunfire
Jodie Turner Smith is my #1 choice for Storm. I was so glad to see her in your fancast. I really hope Marvel considers her. Giant Size X-Men #1 was my first X-Men comic. I adore that comic because it introduced 2 of my faves Storm & Nightcrawler. I was looking forward to this video as a result and it did not disappoint.
Whoever they get to play storm I hope they do the character remarkably well.. Ororo is am epic character which is a shame modern audiences don't know.. Also depending if they will recast T'challa or not I say is the leading factor in the actress age. They could go with another younger version or older (30-40) version
Especially considering what X-Men is inspired from (Civil Rights Movement, according to Stan Lee himself). One thing I hate about the X-Men films is that X-Men was a metaphor for racial injustice but the minorities are largely insignificant in all THIRTEEN (!!!) movies. SMH
The correct answer for Storm is Dominique Jackson, Elektra Abundance from Pose. She's got the body, the poise, the "something" and she can bring the thunder when strong words are needed.
Storm HAS to be played by Jodie Turner Smith, I've never seen someone more perfectly fit for a character before, it's literally like she was plucked from the comic book page
Banshee is my fav X-Men of all time that being said..
She is half African American (west african descent) and half Kenyan so she should be portrayed as such.
Yeah obviously the main issue is when the mcu decides to make magneto or colossus for example a person of colour. Just doesn't make sense
I really hope Marvel has Chris Claremont cameo in all the X-Men movies (à la Stan Lee). Stan and Jack birthed the mutants, but Claremont made them into what they are.
I would love that so Fucking much!!!!!!
Wonderful idea
Without him, I wouldn't have Storm😭😭
@@samwill7259 sounds like a dope dude indeed
Something I'd like them to highlight with Storm is that "we can bicker sometimes but we got each others' backs and we don't even have to say it" relationship with Wolverine. Also make her the co-leader for the X-Men, she deserves that role.
Deserves it? How?
@@ziglaus because shes storm, duh
@@ziglaus Because she has led the team multiple times throughout the comics (even having a split team lead with Cyclops in the 90s) and has yet to be shown even a true fraction of her potential in the movies
@@ziglaus Cause she has decades of comic book history of being great in that role, idk what Storm you've been consuming if you ask that question.
@@ziglaus she literally won a hand to hand combat against Cyclops while she was DEPOWERED for the team leadership, let alone the multiple teams she has lead since her introduction
They really should put Storm at the front like the front front with solo film etc, she's iconic, she's a moment and she deserves it.
When it comes to Thunderbird, you could change their origin story a little bit. John dies in a flashback or early on the movie, making that James decides to take up the offer Xavier gave his older brother instead. Its not that difficult, and if the audience sees a bit of their relationship it will help people cling to James better.
That really is the perfect solution. Altough, I'd bet $5 that scene would end up cut from the final and only show up on Disney+ a year later.
Or just cut him and sunfire out, they're not really necessary and do nothing for the plot aside for a few story arcs
This showed me how much I didn't actually know about the origin of the X-men, which is really cool to feel like I am being reintroduced to these characters
Disney absolutely needs to get the casting for Storm right. That’s the casting I care most about. I like your picks for her.
As a German guy, I have two things to say:
Still, really good work here, great video, strong casting, i love it! Keep it up 💪🔥
This has gotta be the best list you’ve put together and I’m not just saying that a couple of our picks aligned lol
I actually thought this was you. Picks aligned... you guys should collab.
Love your videos! I just commented saying that y'all aligned. Please keep your video length and don't get influenced by these longer form ones xd
I really appreciate that they created Sunfire, since the early Captain America runs were PRETTY violently anti-Japan.
I can't imagine why.
You clearly misunderstand that run. I wonder why cap was created...
@@jacklewis2491 I’m not saying they did anything wrong, I just mean that the early Marvel comics were kind of racist

@@pepelarrza3877…what?
Dominique Jackson would be a fantastic storm
For me Storm should be played by an actress from the continent of Africa. To me Storm seems regal with an accent especially given that she grew up in Cairo and Kenya as well.
You should do one more of these for the major post-GSXM roster (Rogue, Gambit, Kitty, etc.)
Also would love Polaris and Havok casting
If Rogue and Gambit aren't a couple, the whole thing is automatically horseshit.
@@dannypalin9583 fax
Jubilee as well.
Storm has always been a favorite and I hope they get her right
This is the most thoughtful Storm fan casting I’ve seen come from a non-poc X-Men fan!
They could even lean into the idea that most people in-universe find Banshee to be just a boring teacher, when in reality he's a mega badass.
@@aidanshea5942 honestly, that seems like the kind of thing the mcu would do. like a little "yeah, we know." thing.
I was really sad they killed all the cool characters from First Class, so unnecessary
Exactly. All of the characters shouldn't be in the same age range. Having a more seasoned Banshee would make for a more interesting team dynamic.
@@Gibbypastrami true. That was cruel.
I think a big problem/benefit is that Thunderbird, and Banshee are not as well defined as the other Giant size crew. So the movies could have a lot more freedom if they decided to use them. But I hope, if they do that there’s an effort to give them stronger personalities.
I could see Banshee potentially being the comedy relief character that more casual movie audiences would enjoy.
Wouldn’t Kurt also be like that as well though?
@@meep9231 yeah he would too. But I feel like with Banshee it would help to elevate him to a new status by potentially making him more popular which could then lead to him being more prominent in the comics.
You can replace Thunderbird with Warpath since the latter is more developed and more recent. They have the same powers to my knowledge
@@jonssogaming8255 I can see that. Maybe Kurt and Banshee could be an unlikely duo in way in that regard.
Is there a reason we couldn't get a sequel? I don't know if it's super likely we will but I don't see any reason we couldn't.
@@nathanl8622 they did a cartoon about the team, did some comics too I think, haven't heard anything about them in years so idk if it'll ever get a sequel, dude who did the voice of Fred has been canceled several times over as well

they are doing that baymax d+ show
@@mk6rfc1 true, last year I binged watched it.
Really meant for kids but I appreciated the extended lore
Come on!
They also need a girl besides Storm
Didnt she call Stevie the n-word?
I also preferred the X2 look of Kurt, Nightcrawler with the raised ornamental scars was such a beautiful design, that opening scene in the White House still hits as hard to this day! Love it completely
Matthias would be great!! Even has the same curly hair, same build, defined facial features! Great call
Nando calling his cat sweetheart is such a green flag
The deadpool dialogue with colossus you came up with was literally perfect
Wow. I’m just now seeing how Starfire in Titans (HBO) is way more Storm like than the film incarnations of the character.
Ok so we still need Kitty Pryde, Psylocke, Gamit, Rogue, Forge, Maybe Dazzler, Jubilee, Bishop, Cannonball, Sunspot, Marrow, Xorn, Chamber, Northstar, Aurora, Husk, Armor, Magik, Cypher, Hope Summers, Rachael Summers, X-Man, Honey Badger, an older X-23, Wolfsbane, Multiple Man, Polaris, Magma, Darwin, and Synch.
The child actor who portrayed X-23 in Logan was outstanding. I hope they bring her back.

My original pick for Stom is Tika Sumpter but Noel is a close second. My next pick would be AEW women's champion Jade Cargill. But she's more of an opitmistic risk and reward thing since she doesn't really have any acting chops.
Jade Cargill should play Joanna Cargill aka Frenzy, coincidence?

Wolverine and the X-Men: “What if we did X-Men, but Wolverine was the main character?”
X-Men Evolution: “What if we did X-Men, but they were all teenagers in high school?”
90s is definitely the most “accurate” but is also just feels like it is doing watered down versions of story arcs at times.
Wolverine Fancast:
- Milo Gibson (Nuff Said)
- Jared Keeso (Is actually Canadian)
- Emile Hirsh
- Scott Eastwood (His father was the inspiration for the cover art of his first solo series and the character from that took on a lot of inspiration from his characters however he was originally inspired by Paul D’Amato from the film Slap Shot)
Banshee is Charm. He's not particularly good, he's not particularly evil, he's roguish, fun, and always having a good time whether he's winning, losing, in trouble, or on top of the situation. His energy should be easy and playful, but not goofy like young Bobby Drake
Are you planning on doing more MCU casting for mutant teams? I would love if you did a video on New Mutants, Generation X, and New X-Men
Excited to hear what you have to say about Wolverine! I'd also be 1000% down to see your thoughts on Kitty Pryde, Rogue, and other assorted X-Folks!
Seeing as there are many X-Men left uncast, I'm sure he'll do a video casting the rest of the X-Men
Kitty Pryde: I definitely think Kaitlyn Dever, Sadie Sink, or Rowan Blanchard would work.
Rogue: Either Rooney Mara or Claire Foy.
This lets 2 things happen:
Firstly, Sean can serve as a mentor figure to the students of the Xavier Institute like he did in Generation X, and…
Secondly, this opens up room for his daughter, Theresa Cassidy (commonly known as Siryn or Morrigan), to be Banshee on this team instead.
I like this idea too, as long as the daughter has the red hair I'm down
Holy, I have to say I love how much respect you give Storm. I feel like most videos I watch about the X-Men, not even just fancasting, don't get how important she is.
So I really appreciated this, and I agree the most simple way to capture her is when she walks into a room (or is shown onscreen) people need to go "Whoa, that's an important person."
I found Storm by playing Ultimate Alliance as a kid, she immediately caught my eye and I've been hooked ever since.
Can’t wait for the Wolverine casting video. Here are my top 5 actors to play wolverine
1) Jared Keeso (letterkenny)
2) Anthony Starr (The Boys)
3) Wes Chatham (The Expanse)
4) Taron Egerton (Rocketman)
5) Joel Edgerton (Warrior)
And I didn’t put in Tom Hardy because he’s Venom, otherwise he’d be my number #1
WES CHATHAM YOOOOO why did i not think of that
Jared, Wes or Taron I can get behind
I’m glad you went with a darker actor for storm I really respect it as I am African American
Storm is brownskin the actor should be brownskin
As long as they have different powers, I'd be cool with that.
You hit the nail on the head with Jodie Turner-Smith. She has all the makings of an iconic Storm.
I loved your insights about Sunfire/Shiro, and about the bombings during WWII.
A Kurt and Kitty-led Excalibur show would be such a stellar Disney + series
You're Storm line up/suggestions are brilliant! Love it👏🏾🥰
My idea of these characters is to have the first class (the original five members) and then have the Giant sized X-Men recruits be extra people who come into the movies and have them all be allies of Charles Xavier as he has history with them all
Like he could have met Storm in Egypt maybe fought against the Shadow King, he could be Allies with Banshee through Moira McTagget who could be an old flame and same with the rest he could have travelled and already helped them even Wolverine he could be working with Wolverine to help him with his memory and then he joins the team
Thank you for putting respect on Storm’s name.
Loved your Storm list in particular, Jodi Turner-Smith seems to be favorite, but my personal pick is Kiki Layne from If Beale Street Could Talk and The Old Guard. Shes got the acting chops, and has voiced interest in the role
I totally appreciate your bluntness regarding the USA/Japan pieces!
"Banshee is Irish" "Banshee is loud" Jacksepticeye?

Angela Bassett would of been perfect as Storm because of her presence, voice and she commands a room. But she became Black Panthers mother.
I love the thought put into this, not just for the actor but what would best fit the character themselves.
"And playing Storm is... Scarlett Johansson!"
Banshee was already Xavier's age when recruited to join the X-Men, so older Banshee works great for this lineup!
Would love to see who you want to cast as Rogue, Gambit and Kate Pryde
Do we think they’re gonna do the blue contact lenses for storm? It’s always been one of her more prominent features just because it’s not common in real life
Maybe it was the Punk Storm era, but I always pictured Grace Jones as Storm growing up, at 73 I think she's a little outside the window though
34:47 Yes Id love him as Nightcrawler, I was thinking that while watching Army of Thieves
I still remember reading Giant-Size X-Men as a kid at the house of family friends. One of the things that really got me into comics in general.
your storm options are solid💪🏿
The Gifted is a damn good show. The bad part about it was that it got cancelled right when an interesting and new plot was on the way.
Great picks, man. Jodie Turner Smith would absolutely kill it as Storm, but here’s my cast for the MCU Giant Size X-Men.
Deborah Ayorinde as Ororo Munroe/Storm
Chaske Spencer as John Proudstar/Thunderbird
Jacob Elordi as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus (CGI)
Domhnall Gleeson as Sean Cassidy/Banshee
Fionn Whitehead as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler
Mackenyu as Shiro Yoshida/Sunfire
Deborah as Storm is a great choice
For Storm they should pick
Yetide Badaki who plays goddess of love on American Gods
She literally plays a goddess and has that natural presence and grace.
Anna Diop IMO hits all of the Storm marks. My choice for sure.
These are so good! You gota do Gambit, Rouge, Kitty, and jubilee too! It'd be a crime not to round out the 90's Cartoon Roster
I was waiting for this one! I think these actors are all solid choices.
Jodi Turner-Smith has always been my pick for Storm!! She’s perfect! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your choice for Storm is stunning!!
I really don’t think that’s the MAIN thing…maybe acting ability?
nice picks.
my choices are
Jodie Turner Smith-Storm
Forest Goodluck(from The Revenant) as Thunderbird
Stefan Kapicic as Colossus
Jack Reynor as Banshee
James Norton(from 2019's Little Women) as Nightcrawler
Lee Jung-Jae(from Squid Game) as Sunfire
Jodie Turner Smith is my #1 choice for Storm. I was so glad to see her in your fancast. I really hope Marvel considers her. Giant Size X-Men #1 was my first X-Men comic. I adore that comic because it introduced 2 of my faves Storm & Nightcrawler. I was looking forward to this video as a result and it did not disappoint.
Really loving this series! Not only are the castings great they're a lot of the time actors I've never heard of before, good stuff.
I love how you based your choice of actors/actresses from their nationalities!!! This is the very essence of Giant Sized Xmen!!! Thank you sir!
"Oh no, that mouse retonned you too!" and the line about how much money they made cracked me up. Better be used in the movie!
SMH
@@LadyAstarionAncunin right storm needs to be the woman everyone stops and listens to she's that powerful of a character

@@jacklewis2491 Does that make you an android? 🤨😳
Ight you dragged it to the extreme like RDJ as iron man , hugh jack as Logan , Ryan as Deadpool and way more like come on..😂
Banshee is my fav X-Men of all time that being said.. He knew Xavier and the X-Men before he joined the team so, that is why he was convinced so easily I believe there are better actors and would rather have banshee than thunderbird, sunfire, and nightcrawler for the second genesis line up. Awesome fan casts
Banshee yells at gravity until it gives up.
Since they can't do Storm's romance with T'Challa for obvious reasons, I think it'd be interesting if they do something with her and Forge together.
