Yessongs is a triple live album from 1973. Yes mellowed over the years. In 73 yes was at the height of their powers plus they were young and loaded with energy. They absolutely crush every song from start to finish. Howe on guitar and Squire on bass are off the hook on every song. I was working out Squires bass parts and remember saying, this guy never let's up, its full throttle every song. His bass solo on yessongs is like nothing you ever heard before.
The part where they play three distinct time signatures on bass, keys, and guitar, but meet on the downbeat (synchopation) is the most thrilling part for me. And how they so seamlessly pass from light intensity to power! I saw this tour and really enjoyed Igor Korochev on keys. Too bad he couldn't keep his hands to himself back stage. I looked forward to more work from him.
The song that first got my YES attention when I saw them Live in 71 and a true favorite for the uplifting music and especially the inspirational possible message. This was late 90s with Igor on Keys and for reason they let Billy Sherwood on that tour
You are Right once again!!!! that's pretty much what the song was about. Jon Anderson: Singer. Steve Howe: Lead Guitar player Extraodinaire. Chris Squire: Master Bass player. Bill Bruford: Drummer. Rick Wakeman/Tony Kaye: Keyboard player Experts. In the 4 times seeing them in concert they did this song in two of their concerts. Yes is releasing their new album in October of 2021, called "The Quest." New members.....Jon is not in the band......Yes have revealed plans to release their 22nd studio album, The Quest, on October 1st. It's their first collection of original songs. They will be touring in Europe.....not sure here. Look for it....some songs are on You Tube. Glad to see you back enjoying music again....Enjoying YES.
It would be great to see you react to some of the Yessongs concert film. Especially Yours Is No Disgrace. I've watched all your Yes reactions and it's good to see you back again. Peace.
Ladies and gentlemen Chris Squire and Yes the greatest show on earth. This version is waltz like as opposed to the rock ballad of the seventies. Still swings.
a up Jam man, I'm a big Yes fan but also love most music from the 70's and one of them is a track by Be BOP Deluxe call : Adventures in a Yorkshire Landscape.....give it a spin :-) cheer's and all the best
Hey now! Great song and I loved your take on the lyrics and meaning. Rick would be Rick Wakeman. He was not in this lineup but is on the Yessongs version.
Rick is not in this . It's Igor. Lead guitarist is Steve Howe Second guitarist is Billy Sherwood in the green shirt. Billy is now the bass player in Yes after Chris's passing .Hand picked by Chris. Alan White on Drums
Stated and re-stated, I'm sure... this is not the quintessential version... the boys are much older and Wakeman is not present. Steve misses a lot in this version. Jon is Jon. The studio version is the best, both musically and from a production value standpoint. *just discovered you, JAMFamily, so, yeah, I'm new around here, too. Love to hear you laugh as they change tempo.*
@@jamfamily4287 I think the studio version is the best, not the live Yessongs which suffers from horrible mixing. Try this one: ua-cam.com/video/OZ5av777ANk/v-deo.html ...and thank you!
Thanks for doing this.. Not from Yessongs but it will do. Yessongs has Rick Wakeman on keyboards and Bill Bruford on drums. It's much earlier then this. This had Trevor Rabin on guitar not my favorite. No matter what this song is so much better live then studio. I'm not new to you...you weren't around. I used to watch you a lot. So glad you enjoyed it. I'm basically prog rock..keep doing prog and I'll be here.
Don't forget to hit the "like" button!
Actually the original version was from "The Yes Album"
This song is 51 years old and is fresh as ever. Yes is timeless.
So cool to see you back! Hope all is well with you.
I was recommended the live version, but maybe I'll post the yessongs version too!
yessongs version is also live
@@martinreed5964 just 30 years earlier, much faster and a terrific solo ☺️
You can’t go wrong with anything from the double-live album that is Yessongs. It captures the classic lineup in their prime. Don’t miss it!

Chris Squire was Yes

I would listen to the version from Yessongs instead.
That version is off the charts
Do you think you are ready for Close to the Edge??? Gates of Delirium??

Don't know if you've reacted to "Yours Is No Disgrace". Absolute masterpiece!
I have!

I was told that the yessongs version is also live, and I checked it out. I actually like this version better personally!

so bud that was Steve Howe and Billy Sherwood on the guitars in this vid.
@@lesblatnyak5947 I saw the dark hair and not the face and thought it was Trevor.. My mistake.. Your mistake.. I'm not a guy.. Bud
Studio versions mate.... they're a bit old here....
