    Thank you Jessica for promotion the place where I grew up. And thank you for being a proud Korean/Pilipina. By the way, halo halo toppings depends on the local culture. The red sago you like actually came late as one of the toppings. That halo halo store where you ate it is the oldest halo halo there in Ugbo, Tondo. I just subscribed. More videos to come! Kudos to you. Jal jinaeseyo.

Move over Erwan Heussaff, Sonny (Best Ever Food Review Show), Mark Wiens, Mikey Chen (Strictly Dumpling), Food Ranger…Jessica is here. 👏🏼 I like how you connect the foods with your childhood or share a personal story/knowledge with it, which makes it more unique than the usual, run-of-the-mill mukbang.

    Also about the halo-halo, may favorite is actually the sweet boiled banana (i don't know if that's how you call it, but its basically a banana that is sweet and its like covered in sugar that has a liquid consistency) its super good specially if it has all the toppings for the halo halo.
    btw i had fun watching your videos, i'm super excited to see your korean food reaction in Ugbo.

  • @soulscyther666

    My favorite toppings in halo-halo as a child is the sweet beans. Not those little red monggo beans but those slightly bigger white-yellowish sweet beans. Some sari-sari store even sell those in small sachets popular as childhood snack. My next fave is the saging na saba.
    Those are just from the regular "cheap" halo-halo, because if it's special halo-halo, i think most people will choose the ice cream or leche flan as their favorite.

    6:53 The original preferred sticky rice in the Philippines are several heirloom rice cultivars with purple-black grains (examples include pirurutong and balatinaw). It's the OTHER kind of purple in Filipino kakanin, aside from ube.
    Sadly, it's rarer nowadays because few farmers plant these varieties. But I still remember from my childhood in the early 90s that dishes like biko and suman used to be naturally purple half the time. Because they used this type of rice. Nowadays, most people use food coloring to replicate the effect, though it doesn't have the exact flavor of black/purple rice.

      Wow. So thats the original.

    When it comes to halo-halo, my favorite would be (in no particular order) - the brown beans (not the munggo), the special toppings (leche flan, ube), langka and nata de coco. I feel like if they don't have one of those, it's a meh halo-halo.

  • @1911Zoey
    @1911Zoey 2 роки тому

    Jess, yung halo-halo siguro ng Razon's yung pinakamalapit sa authentic. Minatamis na saging, langka, leche flan and gatas lang ang ingredients maliban sa yelo. Simple but it's just so good. Ok rin naman yung may sago sago and beans but I like their halo-halo more.

Got sick by doing it a few times so I've learned my lesson. Would love to try those foods that were featured but there's always a 50-50 chance that you'd get sick.
    I like how you compared the taste of some of the local food to some of the Korean food. The edits of this video I feel is great. Love how you do detail shots of the food and vendors. This vlog made me hungry so I'm gonna take an early lunch. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Anything squid, I'll head straight over, including grilled pusit and calamares and squid ball. Then I'll also finish off with halo-halo. Jessica really made me crave for street food 😆

    Omg was watching your videos already here and on fb, but didnt know you actually studied in USLS. Went to school there too and can definitely relate with your experience. After school or on breaks we also go to the food stalls outside. Btw its called now 'hepa lane' or 'michaels (may kilid dalan)' HAHAHAHA

    Damn, the quality content you're producing lately is soooo good. For a minute I forgot I was on YT, I really thought I was watching some type of reality-documentary type of TV show.
