Someone needs to create a time machine! So glad I was able to see this when it actually aired in the eighties. Good times! Kinda wish the networks would do something like this today but doubt we will ever go back to the networks promoting their shows like this.
I've seen each and every single episode of Gimme A Break!, and Mama's Family. I've also seen the High School USA telemovie with Family Ties' Michael J. Fox, The Facts of Life's Nancy McKeon, Revenge of the Nerds' Anthony Edwards, and Gimme A Break!'s Lauri Hendler; and the High School USA sole pilot which never picked up as a series, this time starring Leave it to Beaver's Barbara Billingsley and Jerry Mathers, and Bewitched's Dick York. All which aired on NBC that season.
After a string of failures such as Jennifer Slept Here, Bay City Blues, Boone and Manimal as well as busted TV pilots like High School USA and No Man's Land, the people at NBC were looking for TV's biggest hits and what they've got was Riptide (1984-1986), Night Court (1984-1992), We Got It Made (1983-1988), The Yellow Rose (1983-1990), Friday Night Videos (1983-2002), NBC News at Sunrise (1983-1999), NBC Nightside (1991-1999) and more.
NBC and CBS had some of the very best network promotional departments, with very memorable campaigns. Must say though that I found NBC's 1983 "Be There" campaign to be a huge letdown especially coming off the blockbuster "Just Watch Us Now" campaign in 1982. In 1983, the CBS promotional effort "We've Got the Touch" ran circles around this deflated NBC effort. Check out the CBS promotion from 1983 and compare for yourself.

The TV movie fails miserably but never picked as a series.
