    It's absolutely sensational. The use of photos and music is really quite special, and I'll admit, I got goosebumps.

    The man at 1:47 is NBC designer John J. Graham, the creator of the NBC Peacock & The NBC Snake logo from 1959-1975.

    Also a great reference to Tom Brokaw--he led the way for NBC News to be top of the (ratings) heap! And the music--Great variation of the "Let's All Be There"" 1984-1985 season jingle, with instrumental passages mixed in! This could most certainly be used over the closing credits of an NBC historical documentary or a Brandon Tartikoff biopic! HATS OFF to whoever compiled this!!! GREAT RESPECT for the Peacock Network and homage to its greatest years of its history! OH YEAH!!!

      I was watching soooo much NBC back then. I agree it was NBCs best years. When ABC cancelled "Three's Company" I started watching alot of NBC, It became my favorite of the 3 networks. I used to sing this in my head all the time.

    NBC was the first network to go all color around 1964, probably because they were owned by RCA which developed the "Compatible Color" system that could be viewed on black and white TVs, also because their parent company made televisions and made a huge investment in that kind of equipment for their studios.

      +rockvilleraven Also,because of a Scientist inventing the "Iconoscope" Tube,we have Television as we know it now! First NBC Program was in 1948,at the World's Fair,broadcasted Live,in New York City!

      You both could stand to do a little more homework, though your effort is commendable. NBC was broadcasting in color as early as 1957, although color set ownership in those days was VERY sparse (a black & white set was expensive enough, much less a color one). In fact, there's an original NBC "peacock" color presentation announcement here on UA-cam, voiced by NBC institution Ben Grauer, who started at NBC in the 20s. The 1962 "Laramie" peacock color announcement would replace it. The FCC indeed accepted RCA's all-electronic, black & white-compatible color system as the industry standard over CBS's electromechanical color system, which had a spinning disc in each set, and if accepted, would've set TV back 20 years. But that was a reason CBS delayed investment in a TV network for as long as they did. However, when NBC-TV carried the 1947 World Series and an estimated 4 million people watched it, it became apparent that an explosion in set ownership was about to take place, so, Bill Paley and company over at CBS changed their minds and got right to work on getting a TV network and program development up and running FAST.
      Not sure where you got the "first NBC program...in 1948 at the World's Fair" in New York idea. NBC put their experimental station W2XBS on the air in 1930. CBS also had an experimental New York TV station of their own. David Sarnoff introduced TV to the public at the 1939 World's Fair. The FCC granted TV licenses to NBC and CBS effective July 1, 1941. NBC got WNBT on Channel 1 (which got moved to Channel 4) and CBS's station was WCBW on Channel 2. WABD Channel 5 was the DuMont station ("ABD" stood for Allen B. DuMont). NBC has carried a news program that can trace its roots as far back as 1944. "Howdy Doody" debuted in 1947. So I don't know where you got the 1948 idea from.

      @@mrmjb1960 - the place is right (NY World Fair in Queens), but that was in 30 April 1939 and when WNBC's predecessor (still under experimental license until 1 July 1941) broadcasted live from the Fair's fairgrounds and established the first BROADCAST SCHEDULE in US TV.

      @syxepop Рік тому +1

      @@ApartmentKing66 - W2XBS (WNBC's first predecessor, opened by RCA) went on the air in 1 July 1928, probably the 2nd experimental TV station worldwide after W2XB (WRGB's predecessor, opened by GE) on 13 January 1928 near Albany, NY.
      Both stations went on the air over a year before John Logie Baird started his mechanical TV experiments on 30 September 1929 over what ultimately became BBC One (yes, BBC started both their fixed and licensed schedule 3 and 5 years before WNBC).

      Back then, NBC had great programming! And I mean great! Like "The Cosby Show", "Cheers", "The Golden Girls", "The A-Team", "L.A. Law", "Law & Order", "Seinfeld", "ER", "Frasier", "Friends", "Will & Grace", and "The West Wing!" When it came to those great shows we've been watching, or have watched, there's no question in my mind that NBC was definitely the place to be!

    It is strange that after 10 years or so one of the Brazilian YT Creators haven't done their version of this video with a thorough (they started only in 1981, so they don't have to go that far back) picture history of the TVS / SBT broadcast network on their version (Acha Aqui) of this song, which they used in 1987-89.

      If Comcast haven't changed by now the 1986 version of the Peacock and even went as far as using it for their own corporate logo, you can be assured that will stay (maybe with some minor changes) for THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE.
      Well, both ABC's "Billard Ball" (1962) and CBS's Eye (1951) are EVEN OLDER, so....

      @@Jantv81 There are some Black & White kinescope peacock openings on You Tube that were made for TV owners who could not afford color tv at the time. They were used to encourage the viewers to go out and buy a RCA Victor color tv so they can see the peacock in full color. One memorable 1959 B&W peacock logo has the announcer flubbing his line as "The fff..following program is brought to you in Living Color on NBC." (it wasn't Mel Brandt or Ben Grauer doing the spoken gaffe.)
