We’d LOVE to see Susan’s tree if she’s willing 😊 THis is their first Christmas with the remodel/addition so I understand her excitement to get the tree up and get the house decorated. I put my tree up yesterday!!
First off, I never noticed the Snowmen didn’t have arms….🙃 ….and second….I use to be so determined and excited about my Christmas decorating. Now that I’m 75, just the hubby and me at home…and no grandkids nearby…I had begun to “slack off and give away” some of my cherished and collected Christmas stash…WELL….this is not good!!!!! Laura and Susan have reinvigorated my passions for creating a beautiful and seasonal space…they have re-lit a motivational spirit inside me to do more…. and stay involved…Thanks guys…your channel seems to have done it again….oh oh Bring on Christmas🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Yay for you! Live fully and abundantly every day that you have left. Also, take up a new hobby. I discovered hiking, kayaking and camping in my late 50’s and was so surprised to find clubs to join and learned so much from the members who are all in their late 70’s and 80’s. They inspire me every day to keep moving and keep having fun.
I love this. Do it up for just the two of you. Whether it’s just you two or a house full of family, Christmas is still alive and the twinkling of lights brings such joy to all of us. Enjoy it.
I Love to put the Tree up (only 1 in our small house). Even as empty nesters, I still do because it brings me joy! I'm a multicolor lights and ornaments. I do put a strand of warm white lights in. I pick and choose what other decs I use in the house from the past years. BUT my Fave Nutcracker and Cardinals always have their places, even throughout the year😊. I'll surely put the Tree up this week!
Yesss some for me! I’ve recently lost my husband after a very long battle of cancer. I’d forgotten how wonderful it feels to bring the spirit of Christmas into out home. I’m so excited to bring the joy back into our home. God bless you and your family Laura! I’m so grateful for your channel. It’s provided hope in some of the hardest times I’ve ever been through.
I definitely agree! I like them better without the twigs 😊 , I saw some snow men ornaments in one of the stores and I was telling them out loud....😂 Anyone else talking when watching the video.... My mom is always asking me who am I talking to 😂😂😂😂
I noticed they didn't do it, but they don't need it. Everything you need to get the idea as someone quickly passing by them on the way in and out is there. With the reflections and backlight, it would be too hard to see the arms. Totally unnecessary to add them.
I have always loved a Blue and white and silver tree. My first tree when I moved out I wanted so bad to be blue and white. But I only had like $20.00, so I went through every thing in my house. Old ornaments that were different colors. I had two kinds of spray paint so I took all the old glass ornaments I had that were different colors and spray painted them all blue. My white can was so old that all it did was spit and sputter all over. So I let that spit over the blue gave it a snow falling look. Still to this day still one of my favorite trees. Just because how creative I had to get. Definitely donate old ornaments to goodwill or a charity cause some people like me that didnt have money to spend on ornaments, really do appreciate it.
Have you been in a Goodwill lately? Their prices are exorbitant I would think you'd save money by buying the bigger containers of ornaments from Walmart. $6.97 for 25? 30?
Now that budget is more like it! $165 for Laura's tree is out of reach for me. Sonya, I'm impressed with your creativity and work ethic to create your blue/white tree! :)
I love, love, LOVE holiday videos with Garden Answer and all the family! I know your channel is a "gardening" channel, but I've gleaned so much from ALL the things you and your family share. So, please continue to do ALL THEEEE THINGS! Antiquing days, decorating days, recipe videos, all of it!! Much love to all of you!
When my kids were growing up, I would buy each one of them a special ornament for Christmas. When they left home they left with a box of ornaments for their first tree. Memories!
I did the same thing with mine. I would take them each year to pick out their own ornaments and we wrote their name or initials with the year on the bottom. The tradition continues with my grand babies now. So fun and they love it.
I actually found your channel several years ago now by searching how to make a bow. I just about died when I saw you had gardening content too. Hit the search lottery that day!
I find their smiles creepy when I see them in the stores & have never understood their popularity. But it’s great that others enjoy that as a holiday tradition.
Raised four kids and we didn't do Elf on the Shelf and they survived. LOL They had them at school, that was enough. From what I saw of them I knew I had enough messes to clean up with out making another that I would have to also clean up.
I learned this from you, and thnx for that! This is not a question, more of a comment, if some of viewers have a minute, maybe it can help to you too. I'm not particularly religious but as long as I live I'll keep my family traditions alive, my late Mom was huge in Christmas, so growing in that surroundings I become too. Love everything about Christmas, trees, ornaments, twinkle lights, cakes, cookies, familiar tastes and smells of Christmas food. My family is Catholic and in Catholic traditions, custom is too put tree on Christmas Eve and keep it to 6th of January to Epiphany or to end of January to holiday of baptism of Christ. But with full time job and rush, fast lives we all live this days, to leave everything for last 5 minutes, it become burden, not joy. And that's were Laura and Garden Answer step in, I'm old viewer, watching GA for 5-6 years, watching Laura decorating(I learned from Laura to make wreaths, garlands, marking them now for me, my sister, my Mom's sister) and was thinking, why I don't do it as well. Now I do all my decorating et the end of November at begging of Advent and finish to St.Nicolas on 6th of December, I'll just leave setting of Nativity scene for Christmas Eve to keep that part of tradition. I do all od my Christmas shopping at begging of December, I'll buy everything I need except fresh fruits, veggies and meat and stay away from rush and crowd to rest of month. With all that done, I have rest of December to enjoy Christmas, lights, trees, go to town, watch decorated windows, grab coffee, hot chocolate or bolied wine on Christmas market and just be relaxed and enjoy this time of year that I love so much. If you also feel this part of year become burden, try to organise it differently, bring yourself back simple, relaxed Christmas we had as kids. Like Laura said in this video, want to have relaxed December and enjoy it. Peace and love 😚
Your Christmas content is actually some of my favorite that you put it out. I just love how festive your family is, it really rubs off on me. No Christmas decor for me this year though, we’re expecting our first baby girl on Christmas Eve! 🎄
I am a Christmas Eve baby ……almost 80 years ago. Honestly it’s not the easiest time of year to have a birthday or put on a birthday celebration although a special time.
Your mom is literally your best friend. I love the dynamic between the two of you. I never had anything even remotely like this with my mom. She is not a big fan of me and I'm at peace with it (finally). Seeing the two of you, makes me feel good that not all mother-daughter relationships are a nightmare and some are quite wholesome. Thank you for sharing.
@@donnabraden3126 Thank you ❤. You are right but at some point you need to stop hopping an wishing and being angry and accept the reality without demonizing. That gave me peace and time to heal.
@@faithfjI had a difficult relationship with my mom too, she never really liked me much and was disapproving my whole adult life. It was especially difficult when she died, knowing there would never be a chance to make things better. But, I accepted reality a long time ago and tried my best to love her. Life isn’t always what we would want. The Lord has made the difference for me.
Changing to the blue and white theme was such a good idea. The ornaments and blue and white ribbons filled in the spaces perfectly. Then when you added the ornaments that Susan made will surely be what Benjamin and Samantha will remember forever!
I’m so jealous! My mom and I don’t have a great relationship and I wish I could do stuff like this with her. I’ll have to live vicariously through you ❤
Aww....ALWAYS love seeing your Mom (Susan) in your videos & her sweet-natured spirit! What fun! Thanks for the inspiration! I use tin cookie cutters & candy molds, hung on a potted evergreen, which gets put into a pre-dug hole outside on Boxing Day!
I have a slim style Christmas tree in my living room. It is also decorated in blue and white ornaments. Last year I bought a few vintage pink ornaments that I bury into the tree. It is so pretty and makes me smile whenever I see it. Also, Laura, it was adorable when your mom called you Monica while you were at Walmart.
I love how the blue & white theme of the tree really makes the blue-grey tone of that paint color on the walls of the landing come to the forefront. Usually, it looks more of a hunter greenish-grey tone me, but this holiday decor really shows off what a great chameleon that paint color is!
Lovely tree. Especially liked how you did the blue over the white ribbon. Did you notice how the hanging snowmen in the Dollar Store didn't have arms either 😁. Love these videos with your Mom and Monica. Love from England 🎄🎄🎄
I got a major nostalgia hit watching you show how you do the tree ribbon - years ago it was one of the first tutorial of yours that I actually followed & I have been using my ribbon ever since! I always get compliments. Thank you for inspiring us :)
Just love this tree. I miss my Mom! We made nosegays and hat boxes for a Victorian tree, all in pinks, burgundy and mauve. It was so beautiful. Another year we covered styrofoam balls with peach and blue fabric and crocheted lace and ribbons. Not only did the trees last for many years, but the memories of sitting and crafting the ornaments last a lifetime. My Victorian tree was from 1982 and I still have most of it. Over the years I have used some of the clear iridescent bulbs for other trees. My Mom passed away in 2022, and we split some of her ornaments between us 3 kids. Even though those ornaments don’t go along with the theme of my tree now, I still put them on the tree. She had a huge collection of crystal ice cycles that I have been able to add to for my bigger tree. I just love them!
Thank goodness for your mom. I have always called it Modge Podge too. Way back in the 70's, I made Christmas ornaments with Styrofoam balls, and paper napkins (cutting out the design you wanted off the napkins) and then brushed the Mod Podge over the napkins to hold them in place on the balls. We also added glitter and a ribbon to hang them. Always a fun project for the kids to try too. On your beautiful blue tree you could place in some pinecones to replace the nutcrackers and the Santa's you take off after Christmas. Such a wonderful video.
The blue tree is beautiful! You did a great job placing the ribbon and ornaments. I think a few birds in matching colors would take the tree to the next level.
Love the tree and it works so well in that room with the moody wall color and mahogany color furniture! Stunning! And yes, can we see your parents tree if they’re willing? Love your mom! Such a sweet, patient and good nature person! 💙
Laura - once again you just amaze me. That is a beautiful tree and I can’t believe you were able to do it on that final budget. Amazing job and thank you for sharing it with us!
I’m glad you came around to decorating a budget tree. We have a thrift store near us that only sells things for under $4. They sold similar looking trees and Christmas baubles. I’ve recently gotten into thrifting and second hand shops so I find it inspiring to think all you need is a hot glue gun and a dream and you can spice up or change your Christmas tree theme on a budget. Also I hope you have a chance to vlog an antique trip soon, I know some people want only gardening videos since that’s your main audience but I would love to see what you find. Fills my heart with joy.
Soooooo beautiful! The tree turned out beautiful it's fun and royal... gorgeous 🤍🩵💙🤍🩶💛 I have not done a mod pudge project in decades , the ornaments Susan made are so beautiful, it's going to be a precious memory 😍 for you all ❣️ Always love to see you and your mom doing projects together and the kids, a bonus treat. Have a blessed day and week 🤗🙏🏻❤️💙🤍💙❤️
The tree is beautiful! I love watching you and your mom together and every shot of your mom, working with the mod podge, had her chatting away😄 When I first saw the blue nutcrackers in the store, I thought they were army men and that Benjamin would LOVE them!🤭
I love the idea of having a winter tree. Maybe add some snowflakes. You are always teaching us how to do crafty things. I watched the Gingerbread House video yesterday and loved that you learned about Bric a Brac from your mom. I love these family videos and it's not too early for someone who has a life as full as yours. Have a blessed week.
Your channel and your family makes life feel good again! I’ve followed you for several years now and have no regrets. Happy thanks giving to you and your family. Thanks for giving peace and love back to all of us
EXTRA ORNAMENTS! Maybe you could make a few bins of 'extra' ornaments for the children to decorate some of the smaller evergreens around the Dream Stream to create a mini Winter Village! You could add a string or two of different colored lights per mini tree for pop at night when the ornaments aren't so visible. Maybe add the lit twig deer and other forest themed decor - Christmas Dream Stream!
That is a BEAUTIFUL tree! The ribbon tucked in is over the moon. Absolutely gorgeous with the modge podge ornaments, too. Little Samantha was adorable with her reindeer mask. And your mom is precious to be there for and with you. What a truly lovely family. ❤❤❤
Love your tree decorating videos, that's how I actually found your channel a few years ago. I also love seeing you, your mom and sister in your shopping expeditions.
I love the blue and white tree. I have bought my kids each an ornament every Christmas since they were born. Then when they grow up and move out, they have a starter pack for their first tree. I try to give them one that signifies something special or important that they did or accomplished through the year. They remember those things each year as they put them on the tree.
Have been watching a number of years & never tire of watching your projects. This time of year is so important & thats always reflected in what you do as a family. These ideas & traditions continue to be passed on & the enjoyment that you all share is lovely to see. Just a pleasure to watch thank you for keeping things real 😊best wishes 🌺🍁💐👌🏻🇬🇧😘👍🏻👏🏻
My core family, when I was a child, had a blue themed tree also! Most of the blue was shiny, blue metallic (quite fragile) bulbs shaped like your favorite, Laura, with the little lemon drop point at the bottom. It also had silver tinsel. I love how the dark blue velvet skirt really grounds your tree! Thank you for sharing such a fun, family holiday tradition with us!
Love seeing this with you and your Mom. Enjoy these times! My mom and I would do the same thing..craft projects and decorating..those were wonderful times and I miss her terribly during this time of year❤
Perfect bonnie blue color scheme with a French twist of ribbon. Great ideas and craft instructions. I'm encouraged now to add white stars and solid blue angels to my blue and white tree. The photo frames are an excellent suggestion too.
I think it's gorgeous and your blue and white vase that you've had on that center table before would be gorgeous with the rest of your blue and white status.
When you were looking for the ribbon in Joann's, and your mom says, 'Well, let's see here", such a good mom thing to say. She just seems to be a sweetheart.
Soooo pretty! The ribbon instantly brightened your Christmas tree. I love blue and white trees. We have a beautiful white tree we decorate with blue lights and different blues and white ornaents. Also, Christmas napkins work really well with mod podge crafts. ❤️🎄🎁⭐️🎀
I loved this episode, Laura! The tree is beautiful! I like how the ribbon looks like elves just had a great time going in and out throughout your tree. I love the vids with you and your mom, they remind me of times with my mom. Cherish all the time you have with your parents and ask them everything! Even if it’s uncomfortable, ask. There are so many things I wish I’d asked parents and grandparents. 😊
...love when individuals decorate from the typical colors. I've always loved the ~blue themes and the undulation of the garland/ribbon, dove-tail ends, etc. thank you for sharing...
You ladies make me smile. Boy, do I miss my Mom. On a funny note, our first stop with my kids was to get a balloon. I used to attach to the child's wrist so I could see immediately where they were if they wandered off. Bonus: they can't hide under clothing racks.
So exciting and beautiful!!! Will watch again and again. Just learned so much. Thank you and bless you! Always love seeing your dear mom, sister, Benjamin and Samantha❤

The dollar tree snowmen ornaments were also missing arms

Not only did the trees last for many years, but the memories of sitting and crafting the ornaments last a lifetime. My Victorian tree was from 1982 and I still have most of it. Over the years I have used some of the clear iridescent bulbs for other trees. My Mom passed away in 2022, and we split some of her ornaments between us 3 kids. Even though those ornaments don’t go along with the theme of my tree now, I still put them on the tree. She had a huge collection of crystal ice cycles that I have been able to add to for my bigger tree. I just love them!
Thank you, Laura and mom! That tree is gorgeous!
@@patwiggers7872 I think so many people say modge podge because of the phrase hodge podge!
Love the blue and white theme. So pretty.
What a beautiful tree! It is so much fun watching you and your mom doing things together. Love when Monica joins you too.
The blue tree is beautiful! You did a great job placing the ribbon and ornaments. I think a few birds in matching colors would take the tree to the next level.
Your mom is darling. What a great blessing to have a mom like her ❤️
I love anything blue and white! Could we please see your mom’s tree 🤞🏻? I bet it is beautiful-your mom is such a gracious lady. 😊
Loved this episode Laura. Thanks! Great to see Mom, Monica and Benjamin.
Soooooo beautiful! The tree turned out beautiful it's fun and royal... gorgeous 🤍🩵💙🤍🩶💛
I have not done a mod pudge project in decades , the ornaments Susan made are so beautiful, it's going to be a precious memory 😍 for you all ❣️ Always love to see you and your mom doing projects together and the kids, a bonus treat. Have a blessed day and week 🤗🙏🏻❤️💙🤍💙❤️
The tree is beautiful! I love watching you and your mom together and every shot of your mom, working with the mod podge, had her chatting away😄 When I first saw the blue nutcrackers in the store, I thought they were army men and that Benjamin would LOVE them!🤭
So much fun and so festive! An easier way to do the Mod Podge balls might be to look for decorative toile tissue paper. MERRY CHRISTIMAS!
It was ric- rack!
Your channel and your family makes life feel good again! I’ve followed you for several years now and have no regrets. Happy thanks giving to you and your family. Thanks for giving peace and love back to all of us
Hanukkah is coming up, that’s why the blue is picked over, also Amazon has many napkins to choose from
I love how the material for the Mod Podge has birds. Also some of the blue and white ornaments had birds. This tree is just beautiful and calming.
🎉🎉🎉hoooooraaaaaaay…hanging with Mum today!🎉🎉🎉
❤❤❤
It’s early for Christmas-no wait-what am I saying! It’s never too early for Christmas! That tree is beautiful. Bring on everything Christmas😄
You need to do the Garden Center Christmas tour before things are gone.
Mother Daughter is awesome, my Mother and I shopped all the time, cherish those moments🇱🇷🥰❣️Tree looks fabulous 👍🥰🎄
My favorite things. Decorating, shopping, garden center.
Oh my gosh. I just love your mom. I can never remember modge Podge either. Too funny.
A Christmas tree challenge and your mom?? Win! Win! Thanks.
Always amazed at the selection and availability in your stores. 🇨🇦. This was so much fun! Thanks!
The tree is stunning! Susan is so funny and delightful!
Soooo pretty! The ribbon instantly brightened your Christmas tree. I love blue and white trees. We have a beautiful white tree we decorate with blue lights and different blues and white ornaents. Also, Christmas napkins work really well with mod podge crafts. ❤️🎄🎁⭐️🎀
This was so much fun to watch this morning❣🎄🌟
I loved this episode, Laura! The tree is beautiful! I like how the ribbon looks like elves just had a great time going in and out throughout your tree. I love the vids with you and your mom, they remind me of times with my mom. Cherish all the time you have with your parents and ask them everything! Even if it’s uncomfortable, ask. There are so many things I wish I’d asked parents and grandparents. 😊
Love the blue and white theme! And the one with the little birds!😍😍😍
You ladies created a beautiful blue themed Christmas tree. Looks very rich. Mod podged ornaments I will have to try.
Thank you for making our day.❤❤❤❤
...love when individuals decorate from the typical colors. I've always loved the ~blue themes and the undulation of the garland/ribbon, dove-tail ends, etc. thank you for sharing...
The ornaments your mom made are my favorite. So beautiful 🥰
You ladies make me smile. Boy, do I miss my Mom. On a funny note, our first stop with my kids was to get a balloon. I used to attach to the child's wrist so I could see immediately where they were if they wandered off. Bonus: they can't hide under clothing racks.
Genius!
It's beautiful. I think I would remove the lamp and push the tree back a little bit more but that's me. Beautiful job Laura and Mom & kids 😃
Love the ornaments your mom did! Great keepsake too!
So nice to see a Christmas tree decorating again.
The material was perfect. Oh this is making me smile.
How fun and absolutely beautiful! You have the best ribbon technique that I’ve seen. Well done!
Red twig dogwood arms would look so great.
They wouldn't be visible in the dark windows.
You really chose the right ribbon with the crossed lines. Also the bright green tree pops beneath. Really beautiful!
So exciting and beautiful!!! Will watch again and again. Just learned so much. Thank you and bless you! Always love seeing your dear mom, sister, Benjamin and Samantha❤
I think a blue theme tree with your darker blueish green wall coloring is perfect. Good job.
