I have no idea why comments keep getting turned off. I have turned them on 5 or 6 different times now. I'm trying to see if there is something in this video that makes UA-cam turn them off automatically. My apologies.
I see more than 20 comments but it says there are only 5. Maybe YT’s left brain isn’t talking to its right brain! Thank you for this! More than ever, I’m now considering starting my own channel!
I follow about 75 channels on UA-cam but this was the first time I’ve seen detailed analytics on being monetized. Really interesting! I teach genealogy classes now and have considered putting some of my lessons out on UA-cam; other potential topics could be dealing with the death of a partner, gardening and cooking for beginners. Your videos are appealing because of your teaching ability, your lovely voice and your positive attitude. I know it’s a TON of work but I wish you all the best!
The answer to why a video takes off is fairly simple. After watching my daughter slowly grow her fitness following to 25k over several years she started talking about safety for women and girls. She graduated with a degree in criminology and psychology. In addition, she was always very street smart. After a mass shooting in her hometown of highland park and then watching the reports of the killings in Idaho she told me that she was upset because she thought if she could shared her knowledge maybe she could save someone. at that moment she decided to try to educate her audience about personal safety. Nine months later She has 1.2 million followers. So the answer is be relevant and most importantly be authentic.
@@MaryBTruly that’s so nice to hear! I’ll forward the compliment! Thank you! I know one of the most satisfying aspects for her is all the messages she’s receives telling of how her advice saved and/or protected them from a dangerous situation.
You are showing your viewers that a new way of life starts after retirement. There is plenty to do to enjoy what you have and declutter what is weighing you down. I am enjoying your videos ❤
Congratulations.... I definitely wanted to coming back after the decluttering video. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what you'll share next. Seeing the behind the scenes of YT was very interesting. You have such a laidback, yet engaging persona.
Thank you for your very helpful vlogs. I appreciate you taking time to explain how you monetice your channel. I look forward to your next video. All the best🌟👏👏
You just did the best job of explaining and showing me how people make money on UA-cam! I have watched many videos but I always seemed to get lost in the acronyms, technical terms etc. Also, an ace that I think you have up your sleeve is that you are a little bit older, you move just fast enough through the content, your voice is calm , you don’t over explain the information and you provide us with visuals to help us understand… essentially, you explain things “like a dad would” and that makes you immediately more trustable (I am 43y/o). I wish you the absolute best of luck in your new retired life!!

Thanks for your honesty! I'm disabled and will be 60 on Nov. 1. 3 1/2 years ago about 5 months after and just getting my first SSDI check I opened an Etsy shop and started selling this beanie I make. It's a story but that little moment 2 months later exploded. Today I have made almost 800 of them. Crazy right? It has kept my family afloat. My thing is, we fall into something that changes our lives. You, your video and youtube. Me, my etsy shop and ebay shop. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You doing it!! Thank you for explaining how it works, as best as you have figured out, so far.. For me, now I am going to binge watch all your videos. Why? Because I am crocheting a beanie and if I don't watch things I will fall asleep. Sad but true. Thank you and I look forward to writting again.
You are such a breath of fresh air! I've been watching UA-cam since around 2009/2010, and I've never encountered anyone as real as you! I think everyone can agree that we've needed someone like you in this space. Many of the popular channels are ran by younger people, but there's value in seeing someone like you creating content and talking about decluttering. My family desperately needs to declutter, but doesn't see the need. Which is why I plan on showing them your videos! They will NOT sit through most organizing videos, but I think they'd listen to you because your videos are engaging and helpful. Excited to see more of what you create! :)
One thing I’ve noticed with channels that are successful set a schedule and stick to it, everyday, or every Thursday, once a week, once a month whatever you choose , stick to it so it’s predictable. Many people have watch lists , there are lots I watch that post on Thursday or Friday so I’m more apt to set aside time to watch those. I will post the list to my tv and do something with my hands, knit, stitch, paint, play a game, answer emails something to multitask. I stop and watch as they go along. People who want to build their channel quickly and earn more money post daily, at least for awhile until they get people hooked.🤣😂🙋🏼♀️ Good luck.
It's the magic words declutter and organization....these are prime topics....people are looking for these topics. Once a viewer demonstrates this is a topic of interest to them UA-cam starts presenting this type of video.
Tim, I'm so happy for you! You're such a likeable man and your videos are about everyday life being retired. Decluttering, cleaning, sorting, are all big titles on UA-cam. I have gone back and watched the "Essentialism" video a few times. Keep doing what you're doing!
My apologies. I just realized I had comments turned off. Not really sure how that happened. I did make a mistake in this video that I did not catch until after it went live today. UA-cam does calculate what they owe creators on the 11th, as I said. However, it is ONLY through the end of the last month. So, they look at revenue for July 1 to July 31 and post that on the 11th. That number WAS correct. I was wrong. As I said, man brain. Thank you again for all your support!
I'm getting videos ready to upload to UA-cam and had NO idea about anything you covered. I'll probably do everything wrong. but I will be watching your channels ❤️
Congratulations Tim! You've invested a lot of time, energy and skill sharing your reflections with us and I'm chuffed to bits that you're reaping some financial rewards as well as a growing appreciative audience. I love that as a true educator, you explain how the system works and how to support you (and others we like!). I've never before understood the importance of playing a video to the end, at normal speed, or liking, subscribing, engaging with comments etc. Normally people just yell at us to 'hit like' or 'please subscribe, it helps us out'. Never, ever have I seen an explanation of how the monetarising works. Hope you thoroughly enjoy all your road trips and the best coffees for a long time! Thank you!
I was one of those people that watched your declutter video on july 4th or 5th. It was recommended on my home page. I am enjoying following your progress. I like watching your videos. Thank you for sharing the "behind the scenes" you tube stuff. Congratulations on your success🎉😀
WHY hasn't anyone done what you have just done before this? So glad I watched the entire video. Helps me to understand how a channel is affected when I watch the whole thing. I also appreciate that you don't over-complicate your explanation. Thanks again! 💚😊💚
I am so glad I found this video and the one where you were talking about changing your room and decluttering and parting with things that you don’t use. It got me thinking about all of the things I have collected and didn’t realize that I was collecting I looked at a lot of it as Things that I liked and used . I am a sculptor and an artist, and like a few very nice antique pieces. But during your video, I started thinking about three cupboards that I have not used or even viewed the things in at least five years. So according to your plans, I really should find a way to get rid of these things. Then, when you showed your closet, I felt rather guilty as I can to keep clothes because I like them or I think I just might wear them to an unknown event. This is pure fantasy. Thank you for this channel and for this video in particular I very much enjoyed it, and will be doing some thinking, and hopefully some decluttering.
I was watching videos about decluttering on the Clutterbug channel and your "35 years of stuff" video was recommended to me. The title hooked me, and I subscribed half-way through that first video! As others have said, your voice, your tone, teaching style and ability, and positive attitude... all of that makes your videos appealing. Congrats to you on being monetized, and thanks for explaining the process! It is so interesting to hear about and also helps me, as a viewer, understand how I can help the channels I am subscribed to/interested in through my engagement as a viewer/subscriber.
I have wondered how one goes about this. As a senior with no one to leave things to, it is hard to figure out how to prepare for everything. Also, people like stories of the past. You have given me inspiration!
Thanks for the breakdown! I’m retired and have started a pet-sitting service to augment my retirement income. It’s fun and rewarding! 🐶😸All best wishes on your retirement journey! Just subscribed, too!
The keyword is Decluttering. Can’t go wrong as a senior going through all of life’s stuff. It’s an untapped market and refreshing perspective. Enjoy your content and your success!
This was the best behind the scenes explanation video I’ve seen. When you said, “I have no earthly idea.” That made me lol. 😂 Appreciate your sharing. ❤ Congrats on getting monetized!🎉
Congrats on your success! This UA-cam game is a tough nut to crack. July 4th was my channel's biggest day as well for whatever reason! Best of luck going forward!
Thanks for being so transparent; I I have wondered about some of these things. When you give us an update in 6 months, I'm curious what role the interaction in the comments plays, as I have heard other content creators refer to this. Congratulations!
Really enjoyed this video...super clear and informative. Plus you have a presenting style that's friendly and easy to watch. I clicked on this video and got sucked in. Totally coming back
This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen. Thank you for breaking it down for us, it opened my eyes of why most UA-camrs will tease something and not reveal it until the end. I am going to go watch your decluttering video because it is so relevant for everyone. My sister had to go through my brothers stuff and my bff is now having to go through and finalize her husbands affairs. A video on how to prepare one’s estate ahead of their passing to make it easier for their loved ones would be a great and helpful video.
I am subscribed to quite a few channels and usually watch at 1.25 speed I don't watch every video as, for instance, in your case, I am a vegetarian and not particularly interested in bacon/roasts and/or the carnivore diet but am interested in retirement and exploring the freedom that brings. All the best
How can you not like this guy? Humble, appreciative, nice… I gave it a like just because of his personality, even though I really found the info to be great, his personality got me! I wish you all the luck and prosperity that comes your way with your channels!
Congratulations Sir! This is thrilling to hear your recap for us. I've been a UA-cam creator for few years now and have enjoyed it tremendously! I so look forward to being able to monetize. Thank you for sharing your good fortune with all of us! Such a treat!
This video popped up in my feed just now and immediately caught my attention. Being new to this platform myself I want to thank you so much for explaining the "back door" of the whole money thing! You are the only person who has sat down and explained everything to where it actually makes sense. Even the FAQ never gave me a clear answer. From one amateur photographer to another, I wish you nothing but great success in your journey here! Also a new subscriber to your photography channel 😊
I am your age and struggle with procrastination, over thinking and anxiety. I do not wish to leave my children with this kind of mess to deal with!! Getting the butt off the couch is the biggest hurdle. I will try preplanning to reward myself to see if that helps. Thank you so much !!
It's been awhile since I first heard an elementary student say he wants to be a UA-camr when he grows up. My grandsons were watching some of the first monetized children's channels, and I don't mean Sesame Street. They watched a family where the boys did daredevil stunts and played video games. My daughter showed me the video they made taking a tour of the huge mansion they bought with UA-cam ad revenue. So I think a lot of kids got the idea that they will be millionaires if they make it on UA-cam. I think this video could be used in a class for Middle and High Schoolers who still aspire to becoming UA-camrs.
Congratulations! Thank you for this video. I am sitting over 3 thousand subscribers and at 3 thousand watch hours. UA-cam is playing ads but I am still not earning yet. There is still hope! Thank you!
I have ALWAYS wondered what type of pay one would receive from a video. This also explains the “catchy” titles that draws people in that are literally bogus! Thank you for this info. You are incredibly easy to listen to and I look forward to coming back to get more info from your experience.
What a great video. I’m sure there will be lots of people, like me, who are interested in this episode of behind the scenes at UA-cam. Surely another high hitter! Thank you for something different.
I too was drawn to your declutter video though I saw this one and watched it first. I am recently retired and in a new marriage of 5 years. I ended up with everything after my divorce and I married a man that already owned his home and naturally it was furnished. I initially had 2 of the largest storage units available in my area and squeezed everything in those (climate controlled) until I could figure out what to do with it. BIG MISTAKE. Seven years later …. So this is why I need to watch that video!! Also, I’ve been trying to come up with something to do with my time and who couldn’t use extra $$ (maybe recoup some of my losses in the way of storage unit rent! The storage unit biz is brisk Tim! It’s a slippery slope though because one ends up spending so much money to hold onto it that one doesn’t want to just take it to Goodwill… it’s crazy! You will continue to do well with your channel(s) because you do have a nice voice and come across as sincere, nice guy, no BS . You have a flare for public speaking and a natural teacher. Now I’m going to shut up and go watch that video if it isn’t to long-it’s been a long day so it may be tomorrow but I’ve subscribed with notifications and will check out your photography channel as well. I’ve always had an interest in photography.
I watched your channel for the 1st time when you did the 35 year declutter video. And I'm pretty sure I watched it to the end. I had watched several shows on the same topic when yours appeared in the feed. It's a trend, I think. People are feeling the need to clear out stuff after years of collecting. Your video helps them to find the motivation to begin that daunting task. You are pleasant and relatable and share valuable information in your content. Thanks for giving us behind-the-scenes data about monetization. I had no clue about any of that. Wishing you continued success and happiness.
Yay, there was a part two! Congrats on the yet to be deposited check, but a check non the less. You haven't asked for content suggestions, but that won't stop me from suggesting a topic or two. I'd love your thoughts on why or why not "decluttering" is wasteful. I am of an age where throwing things out was frowned upon. Finding a new use was great, GIVING it away was better and selling it was entrepreneurial. Today, Goodwill is selective and will turn up their nose, church and community groups have storage issues besides limited distribution. I know the second I die the dumpster will show up. I have no problem with getting rid of stuff, but i battle the wasteful stigma. I do load up the garbage bin on occasion but dang it, i make sure i am the one pushing the one ton bin to the end of the driveway on pick up day to not draw the hubs attention. Now you know, lol.
There are some people that they can turn trash to gold, so to speak. That said you need to be careful. My older neighbour had way too much to declutter and here is how it went. I monitored few groups, especially in a 10km radius. When people were asking for something, I would take it at specific time in the corner of our street by the park specific time and let it go. My neighbour lives alone and I did not wanted people to know that. Most amazing thing? People that like to make miniatures! They break everything down:) . Just my thought bubble
I have enjoyed learning about how YT works and what creators make. I want to pay for every creation but I cant. However, knowing what I can do to help has been hard to find until you made a video the other day about it. I appreciate the honest content and wish you all the best.

Thank you for sharing your growth and explaning how it all works. It amazes me, yet I find it too daunting to ever consider making something myself- just content to watch everyone, enjoy your messages, the education, the relaxation of it all. Thanks again!
I'm glad you explained how much time you've put into this endeavor. I've heard some frustrated content providers complain and now I can see more about what everyone is talking about. Thank you.
Thank you! This is really interesting as I had no idea how it worked. I’m glad that a value is placed on the effort that goes into making a UA-cam video, because as a subscriber the content and regular posting is much appreciated. The ability to interact on UA-cam through the comments and see what other people are saying from all around the world is also very valuable. I think this helps us to connect more and understand different perspectives. Please keep posting!
Hi, Tim! Thank you for sharing this behind-the-scenes look at monetization…very interesting, and very complex as well. All those numbers make my head swim! I'm happy that I found your channel. You explained that very well. Thank you! 😊
This was the best behind the scenes explanation video I’ve seen. When you said, “I have no earthly idea.” That made me lol. 😂 Appreciate your sharing. ❤ Congrats on getting monetized!🎉
🤗☺
Congrats on your success! This UA-cam game is a tough nut to crack. July 4th was my channel's biggest day as well for whatever reason! Best of luck going forward!
😊
Thanks for being so transparent; I I have wondered about some of these things. When you give us an update in 6 months, I'm curious what role the interaction in the comments plays, as I have heard other content creators refer to this. Congratulations!
😊
I’m in Australia and your first video just appeared in my feed and i’m very happy..i love this channel :))
😊
Thank you so much for sharing all of it. The transparency 😍 …I keep coming back, I really like your videos sr.
🙂
Thank you for breaking this down for us :)
Extremely helpful! Thanks so much for the info + video!
☺🙂
You’re very personable, and easy to watch.Keep on making your videos. ❤️👏🏻👏🏻
You made two years worth of ad revenue (that my channel makes) in your “viral” video. That is crazy! Congratulations!!!🎉
It’s crazy!!!
🤓
Keep it up Tim
Thanks for explaining all of this. Glad you made money! Celebrate!
🙂
Fascinating!
You are an inspiration to retirees. Your honesty and transparency is incredible ❤
❤❤❤
Very interesting. Looking forward to your other videos. 😊
I am subscribed to quite a few channels and usually watch at 1.25 speed I don't watch every video as, for instance, in your case, I am a vegetarian and not particularly interested in bacon/roasts and/or the carnivore diet but am interested in retirement and exploring the freedom that brings. All the best
Ask your mom if you can declutter her stuff and you will get a bunch more subscribers and make money.
Thank you!
🙂
Excellent! Thank you.
Thank you for explaining all of this. I always wondered how monetization works. 😊
So interesting! I had no idea how the yt process works. Thank you!
Very interesting! I know you will do well because you are so easy to listen to.
This was eye opening! Very much appreciated this breakdown.
How can you not like this guy? Humble, appreciative, nice… I gave it a like just because of his personality, even though I really found the info to be great, his personality got me!
I wish you all the luck and prosperity that comes your way with your channels!
Thank you for those kind words!
🥰
Wow. That's fabulous. Congratulations!
I've heard of monetization, but had never heard it explained. Quite interesting and thanks for doing this video.
Thank you for sharing that with yout viewers.
I hope, as you do greater things (monetarily) you never lose your excitement and desire to do these videos. That is what brings us back.
-Robin
☺
Love the picture behind you! God bless your channels...
Great explanation of the behind- the- scenes monetizing!
Congratulations on your success!🎉
Congratulations Sir! This is thrilling to hear your recap for us. I've been a UA-cam creator for few years now and have enjoyed it tremendously! I so look forward to being able to monetize. Thank you for sharing your good fortune with all of us! Such a treat!
How cool! Thank you! This helps us help you guys to keep creating awesome content!
🙂
This video popped up in my feed just now and immediately caught my attention. Being new to this platform myself I want to thank you so much for explaining the "back door" of the whole money thing!
You are the only person who has sat down and explained everything to where it actually makes sense. Even the FAQ never gave me a clear answer.
From one amateur photographer to another, I wish you nothing but great success in your journey here!
Also a new subscriber to your photography channel 😊
😊
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing the back story.
I am your age and struggle with procrastination, over thinking and anxiety. I do not wish to leave my children with this kind of mess to deal with!! Getting the butt off the couch is the biggest hurdle. I will try preplanning to reward myself to see if that helps. Thank you so much !!
Just found you, ready to go watch the 35…… I’m in!
Congratulations, Tim.
Thank you very much for being so transparent. I love how you broke that down for us.
😊
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on the success!
Thanks! Yes, thought it was interesting.
I love these types of videos showing behind the scenes and the transparency if the youtube world. Keep it up and make all the money you can.
💯
Congratulations! Thank you for this video. I am sitting over 3 thousand subscribers and at 3 thousand watch hours. UA-cam is playing ads but I am still not earning yet. There is still hope! Thank you!
🙂
Thanks for taking time to delve into this. It helps me understand how people are monetized. I wish you continued growth and hopefully more revenue.
🙂
Your information is welcomed thank you
I have ALWAYS wondered what type of pay one would receive from a video. This also explains the “catchy” titles that draws people in that are literally bogus! Thank you for this info. You are incredibly easy to listen to and I look forward to coming back to get more info from your experience.
Thank you for breaking down how content is monetized on UA-cam. Very informative.
☺🤗
What a great video. I’m sure there will be lots of people, like me, who are interested in this episode of behind the scenes at UA-cam. Surely another high hitter! Thank you for something different.
😊😊😊
This is fantastic!
Thank you!

Congratulations!! Good job I love listening to you talk about different parts of your life. I will be pleased to watch whatever else you come up with.
Interesting to see the breakdown of how the analytics work. Here’s hoping for another viral video!
Thank you for the ideas!!
This is fascinating, thank you. I have watched to the end 😊!! At normal speed 😁
I have enjoyed learning about how YT works and what creators make. I want to pay for every creation but I cant. However, knowing what I can do to help has been hard to find until you made a video the other day about it. I appreciate the honest content and wish you all the best.
well said! knowledge is power! I have looking for details as well and knowing is very helpful.
Love how you explain things. Makes it easy to understand a complex concept
Congratulations I’m so happy for you, I love how you explain how you get paid. Keep up the great channel 🇨🇦🙂
Im glad i came across this vid..Im a single father with a daughter in highschool working a job and creating gaming content forvYourube. My hat off to u for reaching the goals u needed to get partnered. Im hoping i can one day make a living doing this.
Thank you for sharing your growth and explaning how it all works. It amazes me, yet I find it too daunting to ever consider making something myself- just content to watch everyone, enjoy your messages, the education, the relaxation of it all. Thanks again!
I would never stay Infront of a camera for so long! There is talent on doing that, I just do not have it
You know what, that amount will be repeated and more! You have great content! And you’re a great speaker.
I'm glad you explained how much time you've put into this endeavor. I've heard some frustrated content providers complain and now I can see more about what everyone is talking about. Thank you.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!
Thanks for explaining!! Enjoy your retirement!! 🙂
Hi, Tim! Thank you for sharing this behind-the-scenes look at monetization…very interesting, and very complex as well. All those numbers make my head swim! But I am so truly happy that all you hard work turned out so well, and that you’ll be getting a nice return for your efforts 😊. I also enjoyed learning how my actions or responses to a video make a difference for the creator. You have explored many different topics so far..keep up the good work! 👏

I just caught Your channel all because I like the channel NAME! Being "older", I'm thinking seriously about starting a YT channel to give "yrs of experience and wisdom" to anyone who wants to hear. Just happened to catch this particular one and wow - I think We're BOTH hooked!!! Can't wait to watch the one on PROCRASTINATORS...lol SUBSCRIBED!!!
