I've watched him for years. In terms of physical stature I related to rice far better than most receivers who were fast and stronger. The one thing that I have not seen any other receiver do as good as Rice was his he had zero wasted movement and could beat guys off of the line of scrimmage and enough years and timing with a hall of fame quarterback and you'll have a sweat connection. Rice looked fast because he could make defenders go off balance which gave him his crazy separation and he could break his route in a flash. I mean just watch him run a hook route and oh my goodness. The one thing his game lacked was making contested catches, but for him those were rare.

Can't take any of these keyboard warriors seriously if you're only argument is stickum you have no argument. Modern NFL receiving gloves are 5x as powerful at gripping footballs than the best stickum available back in the day. Also if he used it every single game i guarantee he would have been caught, he would never have gotten away using it for 20 years. Also his catching was his greatest thing his work ethic his routes speed and jumping were amazing. Stickum doesn't break 5 tackles and outrun 3 guys.

When I first saw Jerry highlights, tbh I didn't understand what made him the goat. "He's always open" I said to myself. But then I realized. HE'S ALWAYS OPEN. He was the greatest route runner ever, with the surest hands ever. Jerry just had a natural ability to get himself separation and then cut it up the field for gains. He was always in the right place at the perfect time, and if the ball was a little off, he'd find a way to go get it. You'd say, "how the hell do they let THAT man get THAT open?!"
But that's what made him great: they're doing everything they can to stop him, and he STILL gets that open. Dude is the goat receiver by a country mile

No disrespect at all. This Dude right here was ridiculous. Straight up. CRISP routes. Sneaky speed. Great hands. Savvy. Just pure fluid greatness.
But it seems people forget everything evolves. Especially natural beings. My personal favorite car is between a 2000 mustang cobra R and a 2013 GT500. Yes they are still fast even by today's standards. We're some of the best bang for buck vehicles you can get.. But the 2020 Shelby GT500 has SEVEN HUNDRED AND SIXTY HP straight from the factory with a warranty AND will run circles around these cars on the drag strip, street or any fancy race course. It's beating porches. Literally. It is just a better car. Period. Now I would prefer the 2013 GT500 yes but no doubt the 2020 is far more advanced and can handle TODAY'S competition much better. Jerry Rice WAS the GOAT of HIS era. It is a new age now. Yeah yeah guys were allowed to hack WRs at the line and headhunt. What if that were allowed today? Defenders today are bigger, faster, quicker, stronger, more atheltic, smarter and can't touch anyone.. YET they STILL find a way to make plays. If a 6'2 210 lb corner with ball skills out of this world that sticks to people like glue was lined up across from Jerry Rice with a decent pass rush and against a half decent QB (Montana was out there throwing DIMES right into the bread basket) we could argue he would not have the same numbers. I can't DENY him being the GOAT. The proof is there. But what if he played with Brady? Brady spreads the ball around a lot and prefers slot WRs and RBs. What about if Christian Mcaffery was his team mate?? What if he played with Brian Hoyer? Matt Schaub? A declining Eli? Would he DOMINATE all the same. Idk. Maybe. I don't doubt it but I know for sure he DID do it BEFORE. Don't know how well it would translate as everything around him EVOLVES
