I can so completely relate with everything in this video. I’m very introverted, so it’s hard for me to connect with other moms. Also, sometimes the thought of hanging out with other moms would just give me more stress. So I would get caught in this cycle of needing friends and connection but also not wanting it all at the same time. Your videos are important and very needed. Thank you for your bravery and kind heart.

Cynthia Calleros i totally get it. Some days i wishhhh i had someone to hang out with but then nothing in me wants to reach out to the people i have in my life to reach out to. It’s frustrating sometimes. Anyway you’re not crazy. It’s all normal i think. But for sure we need people around us. It’s healthy. 💛💛

I had my first four years ago. I was depressed while pregnant and afterwards too. I’m pregnant now and things are different but my best advice is find joy in the small things and trust in God. I felt like my life was over when I had my son. It was far from over. I thought I was chained to a baby. I felt like I couldn’t go anywhere or do anything. I would tell my elders and they would laugh at me and say yeah your life is over. It wasn’t! It was far from over! I miss those moments of holding him close at night even though I was exhausted. I miss having in my arms with out him squirming and wanting to run around. My advice is to enjoy the small moments and the season of life you are in. It may feel like your chained to baby but that is your baby and you will want that chain back on in a few years. Plus you will have plenty of time to go out when they are a little older but you will wish you could hold them as babies again. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing your kids smile and knowing how much they love you! Trust in God and His plan. Read Jeremiah 29:11. Ask God what those plans are. God bless y’all and your babies!

I'm a mom of a 10 year old and I had severe PPD. It took a year for me to get the *right* help I needed and almost 5 years to get back most of my personality. I still struggle with self doubt but every day gets better. Jessica, you have no idea what a servic you are doing for others. I don't even have a newborn, but listening to you speak about your experience helps me gain some perspective on my own. My best advice to anyone really struggling is to reach out for help. The person you reach out to may not be equipped to help, so try again, don't stop reaching for a lifeline, you will eventually find the help you need. I went through many doctors/counsellors/meds until I found what worked. Thank you, jessica for being brave enough to share your experience with the world. You will be helping many, many people.

Thank you so much. It’s day 6 to have my new baby girl as a first time mom. It’s tough to be so far away from my family and friends back home in the other side of the world , plus the COVID situation, it just made thing worse to be isolated and stay away from people. I also lost my job I loved so much to COVID so I have nothing to look forward to to go back to the original me. I feel so related to your video and it just makes me cry out which I guess it’s good as I’m releasing my emotion. Thank you for again sharing your experience and emotion with us, it makes me feel less lonely on this new journey.

Im so glad you were able to have your babies. I know it’s rough sometimes and you’re so not alone in that. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed and to love your babies at the same time. It’s possible to be grateful for them and also feel anxious. I wish it was easier to stay positive all the time but it seems like life is a tension of both good and bad happening all together. Thank you so much for watching. You’re doing great.

I love your videos a lot. I struggled as well with depression during pregnancy and when my son was born until he was 1 year old I felt I made the worst mistake of my life. I lost some friends but gained new. That was such a horrible and confusing time in a way that I still feel the pain when I think about it. Now life has become much better, he turned 2 this year and we have a great bond now. It was hard work, doing 3 times sport a week, buying clothes for myself and some lovely make up, meeting friends and most important we traveled three times to Canadian Island and that has helped me a lot. The weather and childfriendly people made life much easier. So I really recommend if you have a lovely friend somewhere in a country with beaches just go there and visit! 😊

My therapist is a mom to 16 month old twins and I appreciate how much she understands. I think more videos like this would be helpful. Your kind non judgmental voice just soothes me and helps me. Love your videos Jessica! Definitely feel very alone rn - My son is 2 months old and our first baby.. I am 24 and the first one in my friend group to have kids or be married even .. I live in the suburbs and I feel so different most moms around here as they are so much older than me and all seem to have their established groups already.. I am scared moms will not like me bc i am so much younger than them and definitely don’t have my life sorted out.. I have been nervous to go to one of these baby groups but this encourages me that sometimes it’s okay to only have that one thing in common so I might go! I found another mom in one of my night classes I’m taking that has a daughter two days younger than my son and it’s so refreshing to talk about it with her! Thank you for this! I wish you lived on the east coast so we could be friends. Come to NYC! 💙 xoxox

Hang in there Jessica, being a mom is super challenging and there’s no “right way” of doing things. Whatever works for you and your family doesn’t always work for others. Do you work out? Working out even if it’s 30 mins a day is always helpful, maybe when the babies are napping. Continue drinking your coffee!! Im 38 weeks pregnant with my second child and sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with my 3 year old. He acts up and the baby hasn’t even arrived yet. I’m not exactly sure how I will manage. But I do predict me locking myself in the bathroom and crying in the near future 😘

Your videos are just so uplifting and inspiring. Two weeks ago I bought myself a Bullet Journal and took that up once again. That turned into doodling/sketching in it, which in turn made me desire to paint - so I bought some watercolours and paper (eagerly waiting on them to be delivered - thank you Amazon Prime). I've never really viewed myself as an artsy/creative person, although others have. So when you mentioned about making art, I felt you normalized what I'm doing. Not just me doing it to 'escape' for half an hour before my bedtime once our daughter is asleep. THANK YOU.

Wanted to add that one evening was especially hard and confusing for me, so I made a "mum guilt: the thoughts" spread in my Bullet Journal. It helped SO much to get all those thoughts out of my head. I actually let my husband read it so he understands more of where I'm coming from in our new life with a baby. 💖

I am a first time expecting mother, and I watch a lot of your videos - I watched the "I don't like being a mom" and this one as well as was like ...o boy these will be scary videos... BUT I APPRECIATE THESE VIDEOS...b/c it's helping me already to be very INTENTIONAL about "not losing myself" if you will. and also that it is ok to feel a bit overwhelmed at times and that i will just need to pray and even get some alone time. I love your rawness and transparency on these harder topics. I believe most moms just want to be the best they can and sometimes may set unrealistic expectations on themselves - these videos help create that beautiful balance. I look forward to motherhood and also to implementing some of these ideas

Patricia Bazzani I have a four year old and I’m seven and a half months pregnant. I am 26. I am in college and writing a book. I have great plans and you know what, I actually didn’t have these dreams and plans before having a kid. My son doesn’t slow me down. He works on his letters, plays abc mouse, or plays with kenetic sand while I work on achieving my dreams by writing and doing homework. Being a mom doesn’t mean your dreams can’t come true! Sometimes it actually makes you work harder for them because you know someone who looks up to you is watching. I might not work as hard on achieving them when my daughter is born because I will be exhausted for a few months. Those months will pass and I will be working hard on them again. Kids are not dream killers. You can do whatever you set you mind too! Don’t give up or get down! You can reach your dreams!! Keep refusing to believe that you can’t achieve them because of being a mom. Us moms are awesome! We grow a living being inside of us, nurse it, love it, take care of it for 18+ years and also achieve goals!

I always want help but for some reason once someone actually comes over to help, I feel like i need to take this time to clean and or host. Like I can't seem to relax and nap. I hear my baby cry and automatically feel like what he needs is me. My mother in law occasionally cones to watch him while we go to get groceries but that also becomes stressful. "Don't give him a pacifier. I'm serious." .."he spits his milk out because of the pacifier" ..."he has trapped gas and constipation because of the pacifier" .." He can't sleep because he's used to a Pacifier" This is her main complaint toward me amongst many others...like how I should be giving him water and laying him on his side or just putting/ leaving him in the carseat for long periods of time vs using the strap carrier. Baby is only 6 weeks old and my pediatrician seems to have opposing advice so I'll listen to the pro. Ugh sorry I really needed to vent haha. I am a first time mom and having a hard time as it is. Was not able to breast feed my baby and it's taken a huge toll on me...sounds dramatic but it is a horrible feeling.

Thrush tip: grab the cream version of yeast infection cream and put it on clean dry nipples (wash first or rinse with water air dry) use between feeds then gently wash before feeding. That kills the yeast quickly.
Evening colic tip: I NEED coffee in morning to make it thru but, don’t exceed that first morning cup. Here’s why. Diary and foods aren’t only thing that effect baby. Coffee can make baby feel just like u do when you’re over caffeinated. They can be up more struggle to get to sleep act agitated. I noticed once I put two and two together my baby slept better which meant I slept better!

“I love coffee...” 🤣😂 Drink as much coffee as you want. Speaking from experience, it can be pure happiness ☕️ and that’s ok!

Omg let me share something I've just discovered that has changed my housekeeping game: Tody!!! It's an app. I love it, and it makes keeping tidy so much more manageable for me. GIve it a try if you want, it's helped me be way more productive.
The Kondo method definitely has it's merit, but I don't thank my items. They're not sentient and I don't owe them anything. Plus as a Christian it feels inappropriate to me, like idolatry...but that's just from one Christian sister to another. Tons of love, you're an awesome mama!

Read "Happiest Baby on the Block." Babies cry a lot but shouldn't cry for hours! There are ways to soothe them and meet their needs and not suffer through endless crying. Hope this helps and congrats on your new baby!

I am a new mom and totally relate to all the struggles that you mentioned. My son is 7 weeks old and I have never felt more exhausted and out of sorts in my life. I do prioritize his needs every day, and should look a bit more after myself.. as you also said, but it constantly feels like the hours just slip away and when I do get some alone time I just sleep or do stuff around the house that I usually did before baby. Just to get some comfort from the old stress-free routines I had. I also feel very isolated but hearing other moms having similar issues does help, so thank you for your videos! Love the content and let us all moms stay happy, healthy and positive together! 😁😎 Greetings from Romania!

karina peters are you a Christian because I know a few verses that have helped me out in the past...
Proverbs 12:25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.
I hope that helps... Stick in there! Being a mom can be hard. Babies crying can be very challenging. It will pass and you are doing a good job! You can do this! You can all things through Christ who strengthens you! You were made for this and you are not alone either!! All of us moms have had those nights and times when our babies just cried forever and we have all felt like the worst parents in the world in that moment. You are not! You are doing a good job! Your baby is lucky to have you!
