I personally think the SHMA Godzilla looks the best out of the two but it's way too overpriced it's ridiculous.
Wait till you see half the catalog, every single one costs over 200 to 800$

which ones? i think they've been doing a pretty good job, other than 1989. the sort of engineering we see in these pictures has been standard since the 1991 release.

Here’s my opinion, the reason I believe there’s such a big gap between the two figures (besides the price lol) is the color scheme cause with hiyas figure it has a weird tan dry brush making it look lighter than he did in the movie. In the movie Godzilla was a deep gray for most of the time so seeing shma with there darker colors makes him pop out more(especially since there promo background allows the spines to shine). But the one thing to keep in mind is that with hiya we get what we see 80% of the time. But with shma EVERY promo picture is NOT showing the actual figure, it’s a resin prototype which is why the details and paint are so good in comparison, but oc when in manufacturing the actual figure it’ll loose those details meaning the paint as well will be sloppy which is why we get the derpy eyes and teeth. Either way hiya (imo) is a safer option cause imagine paying 200 for the probability of sloppy paint and with the risk of the figure breaking apart out of the box.
the hiya isnt as light as it looks in the product shots, theres some convention shots where its the more usual color.
Every promo shot of a figure is the prototype across all companies and all lines. They're not gonna wait on the finished factory ones to show promotional images when they solicit for preorders lol.
It doesn't really matter if it's a prototype. For first that's all we have now so we can't base opinions about the actual figures. The second thing is just don't preorder it. I don't understand why someone who thinks this is a lot of money would preorder it unless it's their job to review it. Just wait for some youtubers, redditors or someone to buy it and decide then.

QC issues are why I canceled my Minus One SHMA figure. I saw reviews that pointed out the messy teeth and eyes, as well as broken scutes coming out of the box. Not at all worth the $160 they were charging for.
Hiya is definitely the more accurate one, but SHMA is better proportionally.
Color and detail are definitely more accurate in hiya the face comparison is a perfect example
in the movie, godzilla's body kinda warps around a lot. expands and contracts. when you take the CGI files that have godzilla in a static pose and cut that up for joints, it's always going to look a little off when you put it in more dynamic poses. that's what it looks like to me anyways, i'm completely talking out my ass. i think the SHMA captures the way godzilla looks throughout the entire movie better lol
İf we look at their prototype aka images shma is better than hiya yeah but those are images final product may change we need to add that on top of that even shmas version is better looking and has more articulation it can again have quality control issues like most of the time they had joint tolerance can be inconsistent paint issues may happen figure can send broken or litreally like blue eyes white dragon it could have near to no issues price gap is again huge but it isnt worth to mention if you want something you should just buy it

I genuinely want the SHMA version more because this Godzilla with the super articulation fits more for me, it feels better where as Hiya looks like it’ll be stiff and tight from the photos. The issue for me though is that I don’t live alone, and I will probably be called crazy for spending that much money on it. But I still want to buy it.
I imagine the articulation for the hiya will be similar to the current releases so yeah probably a little more stiff but I can still get him into some great poses

SHMA in my opinion looks more visually impressive but that price tag and lack of atomic breath piece is killing it for me.
That price tag can f$@k right off. 140 for a figure that will most likely look severely worse than the prototype (as bandai is used to doing) with no accessories. I mean the prototype looks sick, but I'm not that trusting.
SHMA deadass copied most of Hiya's homework from the previous lineups for accuracy (Especially how the head and neck is made. You can't unsee it after looking back at their atrocious looking Godzilla molds that didn't change for the better. Unlike Hiya who updates their figure and improving upon them for each releases. Not to mention the leg gaps. SHMA will literally charge you 3x the price for something they copied and probably won't feel as articulated), add more sprinkle and decoration to it before slapping a Minus 1 Price.

Lol, what? Couldn’t be because both companies used the actual 3D files for the movie, but instead it was Bandai, the larger company, copying Hiya. I’ll give you the neck mold, as both look quite similar to one another, but otherwise, both figures are doing things differently compared to each other, despite them being based off of the same design.
I know Minus 1 probably burned you (I love my copy), but that whole statement of yours is disingenuous at best my friend.

Don't they like vomited the same molds with weird looking neck and head for the past 5 years without even making it look accurate despite having the "3D files" as their basis? Now they have identical neck and head proportions to make it look more accurate like Hiya's.
What I'm saying is, SHMA saw the writing on the wall and thought "Yeah nah... I guess making the toy look 1:1 is more important than articulations". And now... here we are. Now they are gonna deal with people saying "It can't look up like me inbred model, mate" like what most these SHMA stans do. Ironic, Isn't it. Bet you SHMA stans are gonna keep on quiet about dissing Hiya with the limited articulation now that the mold is almost the same as theirs.

I decided to bite the bullet and pre-order the SHMA version, knowing full well of SHMA's track record lately. My only other articulated Godzilla figure is the Hiya Toys Godzilla 2019. If this figure is not up to par, well, at least there's the Hiya Toys version, which is a regular release.
Also, there are already pictures of the SHMA version that was on display at the Tamashii Nations Flagship Store in Tokyo. It was as close to what we've seen in the promotional images
There are in person shots at a convention of the Hiya, the color is darker than the product shots which definitely blew out the colors for some reason. I love the dynamism of the shma but the sculpt of Hiya is very accurate and i love the dry brushing on it, that sense of texture adds a lot for me. Also, the SHMA might be cheaper if it drops on the Premium Bandai US store, its 130-145 rn because the online stores have to upsell it as they get it from japans premium bandai. So if it does drop on pban US itll be more around 90ish.
I'm going Hiya as always. I never liked the look of the SH Monster Arts figures. Hiya has better sculpts and pricing.

Dude you just explained a lot of what I was thinking about these releases.
I personally think that Bandai’s looks better overall and more accurate, just based off of the prototype photos and display images we’ve seen thus far. I dunno, the colors and detail just… Pop more to me. Maybe Hiya just shot and lighted their figure weirdly, though as you said. Whatever lens or lighting technique they used didn’t really make matters easier for us lol. I’m ultimately getting both so it won’t really matter, but unless the SHMA comes out and sees a drastic drop in quality, which I hope it doesn’t and won’t speak that negativity like other people, I think it’ll be the “better” product of the two. That’s not a bad thing, it SHOULD be considering the company it’s coming from is significantly larger, and the price is significantly higher.
Everyone should be hoping for SH Evolved Godzilla’s success, and that it’s a genuinely great figure, as it would mean that Bandai has taken notice of what their competitor is doing, and aren’t sitting on their laurels anymore. We shouldn’t have to be scared or hesitant that our $140 product will be better than our $50-$60 product. We should’ve gotten a pink atomic breath for that $140-$150 though🥴🥴
I’m getting off my soapbox, but both figures look great so far, and I’m looking forward to displaying them later this year/next year!

Still saying overall from movie to figure it's hiya. SH just now finally made a great monsterverse sculpt for Godzilla. Finally accurate. To me besides the color the only thing sh has better is articulation and the right pink. But with that being said as a proud fan of both companies and Zilla I pre ordered both cuz I gotta have them all.
Also I didn't order from bbts cuz kicksgeneration toys has a much better deal. That's just me tho. Bbts over priced it imo.

Hopefully hiya revamp their chest before the mass release. Details wise it's already good, the prob is the proportion of the body, kinda awkward to look at.
If only Monsterarts and Hiya Toys team up and made a hybrid Evolve Godzilla or a Shimu figure imagine the look of it😱.
May just be the photography but SH monsters evolved Godzillas head looks kinda big.
What I think lacking of the Hiya Toys' photos is posing. The SHMA one has these dinamic poses to show off the figure but the Hiya one is... he just stands there.
As for the figures themselves, they both look really great imo, and SHMA definitely has an improvement on the face department there.

I’d say shma evolved goji as a figure will turn out good and few QA issues. Its a premium web Bandai release (which is why price is so high here is US) and not a standard one like minus one or the GvK figures were for example.
All the past Premium web releases over the past few years have all turned out amazing with the figures looking as good or even better then the prototypes
Honestly if you decide to get the shma just import it from Japan so you only pay around $90 instead of $140-$150 here in the us

You know the problem with the hiya figure is they don’t want to go to far from the original model which resulted in him being bigger than he needs to be overall taking the slim appearance away.
I'll be honest, when I first saw the 2 I though the shma version was infinitely better. However after seeing how the pre evolved Hiya looked in hand compared to the promo pictures, I have a lot more hope for the Hiya.

I'll say this... I'm an avid collector, but sometimes I like to save money lmao
I got SHMA’s for 115 so it’s not THAT bad. I’ve seen new images on Twitter of SHMA’s in a “real life setting” and the prototype really looks leagues above the HIYA that was also showcased in China I think with Shimo. It also looks to be bigger than 6 inches, maybe 6.5 inches or close to 7, so that’s a plus. SHMA looks like it actually jumped out of the screen and I hope the final product is 95% the same as the prototype
Okay, im gonna be really honest here. The hiya one looks like it has no emotion. The sh one looks like it’s full of emotion. Prove me wrong.
SHMA genuinely struggles to get good face sculpts, and their paint quality control is ass most of the time. Hiya does a great job of having consistent QC at an awesome price point and great sculpt accuracy.
Based on the "Pre" Godzilla molds, I prefer the SHM over the Hiya

I can literally pre-order a shimo figure, supercharged godzilla and evolved godzilla figure from hiya for only $161.99, which is a $20 increase from S.H monsterarts evolved godzilla. Hiya is so much more worth it.
Its funny with the duality of shimo and godzilla model. Sh clearly wins with godzilla by a mile despite the price. Whereas hiya shimo is perfect and sh shimo is a monstrosity.
I think Hoya looks for movie accurate. The SHMA looks a little cartoonish.
HIYA's looks more accurate with its detail and definitely has better paint (the dorsal fins look far more accurate in my opinion, mainly in the coloring), but the stylized SHF is super nice and so appealing to the eye, I also love how well hidden the joints are. With that being said, that price is insane and not worth the money.
I bet the S H Monsterarts version will fall apart out of the packaging.
i pre ordered the monster arts evolved, i already have the hiya 2019 so im willing to give sh a chance and see how it turns out

i like them both but hiyas looks liek from the egypt fight while shma looks like when he broke out the ice. but hiya paintjobs are always different in prototypes so idk about them.
Has anybody hit on the apparent lack of the thagomizer in Hiya's photography yet? That kind of bugs me and I haven't heard a peep on it.
You can sort of see it in one of the photos on hiyas site. The one where she’s running off to the left. Just not a great angle of it
Sh figuarts articulation is usually better then hiya toys if your want one that has the better articulation. But also sh monster arts is also little smaller in size. But for me that price is the biggest draw for me. U can get almost 3 hiya toys for the price of 1 sh monster arts depending were you get em. For me just to have a little better articulation on a Godzilla figure and they both still look great. Now if I was talking about articulation on a Spider-Man figure then of course I may pick the higher priced one. Also another thing I’ve noticed over the years with sh monster arts rendering pictures compared to the actual figure sometimes is a massive difference. An not to mention they seem to always mess up the eyes on them for some reason. They make Godzilla look like he has a lazy eye or his eye isn’t even in his eye socket. So for me in the long run I will be getting the Hiya figure.

in my area shma is half the price and its not a bootleg. I bought a 2002 shma godzilla for 60-70$ instead of the 120-160$ so may get 2024 godzilla for half the price too

I'm not the biggest fan of the design as a whole, it's cool but it's just not MY Godzilla. But I will say that I think the SHMA looks better objectively, in the promos that is. Tbh, I think if Hiya got someone who actually CARES to pose the fig for the promo images, it would probably look baller and worth the buy over SH. But overall, for me buying a figure comes down to if its worth the price, and the SH is NOT worth 150 dollars. Its a shame that by the time people are able to make reviews both may be sold out.

I'm a S.H. fan all the way but to be honest I think the Hiya's regular Godzilla is better thin S.H. & S.H. evolved Godzilla is better thin Hiya's. Thin I think if S.H. puts the new head of the evolved Godzilla on the older models it would be on point
