For all of you saying " it's not tapas " it's just things on bread ! The first ever tapas was a piece of bread placed over the top of a drink , to keep flies out of the drink , then they put other food with it .
Technically they're montaditos, tapas are small portions of food for one, montaditos are food served on a slice of bread, and food on sticks is called Pintxos. You can get larger portions of tapas, called a racion, or a media ration.
Nice video Lee, I liked the old Town
The snack food on bread is called a Pinto. It's technically not tapas but I would let that slide, the toppings in this section however are unquestionably just beige food catering to the British Palette - hardly an authentic Pintxos/ Tapas and about as Spanish as sticking a bit of bread under a bit of fish and chips
@@jock8523 Tapa / tapas translates to Top Cover Lid .Tapas originally were put on top of your drink For FREE Most Spanish serve a small tapa in a dish usually on a piece of baguette
@@thomo1888 it's called pincho and not Pinto.
I wish you knew how much of a positive impact these videos have on people. I’m a 22 year old girl who’s low key obsessed with your content! Always put a smilie on my face how happy/friendly you are! Never stop what you do:)
Great. Love tapas alley, cant wait to get back and spend a few afternoons down there. Thanks for the memories Lee. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hey Can't wait to have a few scoops with you. Beep Beep. 🕶
Glad you liked it but that's Tapas for tourists Lee. I mean - plain bread, chorizo and a couple of fried cheese things? Thats not even the tip of the iceberg. There is a huge range of meat, seafood and vegetable tapas dishes - perhaps try these before you return home? Great shots of Benidorm Onwards.
Hi Lee , My wife and I first went to Benidorm April 1976 on our Honeymoon ,we stayed in the hotel Los Pelicanas which was used for the T.V. show Benidorm..Went back for the next few years, but have not been back for many years , You have now put us in the mood to go back.........
Great to see you meeting Tom. Weather looked great for Jan. Love the old town and tapas alley.
Love your videos bud, keep em coming 👍🏻 Subscribed. Benidorm is brilliant something for everyone, brilliant 👍🏻
Didn’t look very Tapas to me, I always thought they were small dishes of food. The last time I had Tapas was in a small restaurant up In Pitlochry in Scotland. It was very tasty and each dish was small and delicious. What a pleasure to walk along and meet all those wonderful friendly people. It makes being a UA-camr a pleasure.😎👍😉
Got to say mac master these are the best vlogs you've ever done absolutely brilliant content
Really enjoying your trip to Benidorm. Definitely a sign your mum is with you on your adventures how lovely.
Back in the early 90s, first time in Benidorm with my mates, we discovered the Pig n’ Whistle. Loved it so much we were there every night. Great atmosphere and great music.
Never seen traditional tapas on bread before.. and so much bread.. the chorizo sausage looked nice but nothing eles for me unfortunately. Enjoy your trip Lee, would live to visit Benidorm ones day.
We got a boat trip to that island off Benidorm years ago before we got stuck on Tenerife. It was a very nice day trip. We knew it as Peacock Island. Love the vlogs thanks
Lee you are so right exploring different cultures from around the world and meeting all your friends, the food is an extra and gives us all the best places to eat and avoiding the ones that don’t meet your standards.👍👍
That's not tapas. That's little bits and pieces stuck on bread. We've got a ton of great tapas places here in the UK. Revolucion de Cuba for example. There's one in Nottingham for you to try 😏
Awwww I loved that video the beautiful old town ❤ I fell in love with it the first time I went please do more old town videos 🙂
Great job Lee. Nice to see you veer from the trodden path. More please.
Brilliant. Glad your enjoying Benidorm. Pig and whistle is great. Also the show bar next door, klee kafee. Owner Tina Gloss from Leeds obviously like a lot of people in Benidorm. Funny lots of people saying hello to you and very rewarding I bet. We were there in October, we have 350 subscribers and someone came up and said hello to us 😂 only time ever 😂. Keep up the great vlogs Lee. Oh if you fancy a change, Altea is a short bus ride away. 1.65 each way. The old town there up by the church is stunning
That was the most British-looking tapas I've seen! All that was missing was one of your pots of flipping curry sauce!
You my friend have got your mojo back and it great to see😉 enjoy your last in the dorm, really great series xx
Great video been going to Benidorm for over 10 years and we NEVER stay in the new town, 😄😎 Also been following Lucy The Benidorm Enthusiast for several years, met her a couple of times too, shes a lovely friendly girl. We always stay in the old town and eat at Spanish restaurants every day/ night and go around all the tapas bars. 🍤🍖🌯🍷😎 The atmosphere on an evening is fantastic, you can hardly get a table at most places as its full of the locals. Aragonesa is great and the smells that come out when your walking through is amazing 😁 I really recommend it and more British people should try it. 👍 You probably already know by now but that spicy sausage is called chorizo 😂 you should have tried the morcilla (black pudding) its superb. 🤗 and the Spanish omelette. Im off to Tenerife in 2 weeks so cant wait to find some local tapas bars. 😎🍹🍷🌴🌴
I live in Spain and think you that what you had was tapas provided for customers who aren't familiar with tapas.
But it looked excellent. I've also been to Tapas Alley and I can confirm it tastes excellent.
A good video. The Spanish also love Benidorm
Brilliant video Lee love it, been down there today. Was looking out for you on our travels in the old and new town. What smashing weather over here, so glad you like Benidorm. So similar and yet so different to Tenerife. However two great destinations.
If those are Tapas, I'm Julio Iglesias..I must be honest..Benidorm over Tenerife every time for me. Proper beaches on the mainland. Loving this Beni series. Nice one Lee.
When I went to Benidorm in a group, just 2 of us wanted to visit the old town and the others didn't want to walk that far. We found a Chinese restaurant where the food was fantastic and cheap. We got a selection of dishes kept warm on a candle powered warmer and you just take what you want and put it on your plate. We liked it so much we went back there twice more just for that food. Our friends found a similar place right near our hotel but the food just wasn't as good. I was not keen on going to Benidorm but it was much better than I thought. It was the night life which made it so good.
Cracking video Lee, nice to see the old town, different food and some sun! Benidorm looks fab and I hope there plenty left for you to go back for and keep sharing the fab content. Top job 👍👍
Tapas😂, that's more like a truck drivers snap box.
Good one there is so much more to benidorm than fish and chips and mobility scooters I love the place
Glad you enjoyed the food but you weren't to know that you were not eating traditional Spanish tapas. Really enjoying these videos from Benidorm. x
If thats tapas? Im santa!.. Reminds me of 80's parties, with cheese and pickled onions on sticks, and cheese and pineapple on sticks.. The only thing that was tapas, was the name..
In 1999 (December!) I had Tapas in Benidorm. I'd visited my roommate who was in the private hospital and I'd met her niece there - she actually lived in Benidorm & was bi-lingual. As we left we crossed the road to an authentic Tapas bar. I had meat balls, garlic mushrooms and a slice of tortilla. It was all delicious. Last Tapas I had was in Liverpool city centre at La Tasca Tapas Bar. I think it's still there, but has had a name change (Revolution something or other). There definitely wasn't so much bread included in my food.
thats the way to do it lee embrace the spanish culture well done
Well done for going out of your comfort zone and having Tapas Lee 👍 another great Benidorm vlog ❤
Just back from Christmas in the old town, absolutely brilliant, excellent video as usual lee.keep them coming.
About time!!! Told you you'd love the old town Lee.... I'm now loving your Benidorm vids!!! Seen a different side to you now Lee? You looked bored and seemed like you where doing the same old same at the Lavante beach end, but when you were at the old town you looked excited and chipper ! Back to your old self. Your a very good vlogger when you enjoy yourself, It comes across on camera. Also saw your girlfriend on one of your vlogs!!!! HOW!! Your a lucky chap. Don't mean to speak out of turn but you do know your mum's very proud of you.... Keep going,. ONWARDS!!😀
Too much bread. That’s not traditional tapas.
Looks huge for tapas.
@@derrickwhittle9012 normally served in dishes also
Totally agree
Great vlog Lee,completely different from the usual vlogs, tapas looked good, thanks for sharing the experience with us
Just for general information the Pig & Whistle bar is just around the corner from where you ate the Tapas.Very busy & lively bar with a/c.
Great Lee. Glad you finally went to show off this area. There are bars around tapas alley that will bring free tapas out if you're having drinks.
When ever I go to Spain, first thing I do is order a bit plate of ham and sausage and a bottle of red. Followed by big grilled prawns in garlic and a salad. Yum.
Lovely video. Thanks for sharing 🥰 👍
A part of Benidorm more and more are finding. Benidorm is for all ages and tastes. Round about April that place where you are sitting at in the Old Town is absolutely buzzing and with a fabulous Spanish vibes.
Loving these Benidorm vlogs!
If I’m honest, the Tenerife ones can get a little samey
*ducks*
Hi Lee, That bread doesn’t need margarine. The Spanish have Alioli in their bread hmmm gorgeous
I make you right on that garlic mayonnaise and bread but was it tapas? Jury is still out
The world has gotten far too serious for me. I enjoy watching your videos and I’m in Arizona. There’s no food here like what you are reviewing on your videos but I really like your attitude and friendliness it’s a great pick me up. Thanks 1 million
I can tell you're still grieving for your lovely Mum...the two names may have been a way of her showing you shes with you, as they are always looking for ways to show you they are with you. Shes proud of Thee, Lee. Shes with you xxx
I thought you were meant to have a glass of wine and a couple of tapas and go on to another bar and repeat and so on, staggering along by the end, lol. Seem to remember Lucy and her mates doing just that on a vlog!
Tapas, keep portions small. As you know it’s a snack, small savoury dishes. Tasters really. To accompany your drink. And help it down. Something of everything. ‘Elegant efficiency’ as you say it so perfectly.
Traditionally free, but tapas is not a full meal as such. It’s lovely small measures of local produce, like fish and meat and the likes of olives or tasty light food. Ate at a bar or table.
‘Elegant sufficiency’ - I must remember that. Superb!
Well done Lee trying something different not really what I know as tapas 30 years + travelling to Spain but really enjoyed you a little bit out of your comfort zone keep up the good work
You have inspired me to start my own channel, becawsse 😆I love how you get to travel and meet new people and get out and about. Hope I get the chance to be as big as you. Onwards my friends…🕶️
Keep making Videos! 🕶
That's not Tapas . Tapas basically means little dishes/plates in Spanish not sausage on bread
What an outstanding video Lee, I virtually summed up “The Best Of Benidorm”…..I’m wondering as “1 that hates the heat” if a Benidorm side trip is in the cards as later in the Fall I’m scheduled for the Uk 🇬🇧 + Ireland 🇮🇪, just have to see ! Cheers, 😎👍🇨🇦
Tapas is always going to be a ..marmite situation but I don't mind it,really loving these benidorm vlogs macmaster and what you have planned for this year . number 1 vlogger 👍👍🍻🍻
LEE! Thats not Tapas 🤣🤣 go back & try again.
That’s Iceland party food 😂
You thinking bread .. not had tapas in old town. But was full baguette on plate
When i lived in benidorm years agotapas never came on bread?.???..
Hey Lee! Gorgeous scenery of the old town! Nothing wrong with tapas especially if it’s like that anyway. Other than Pizza I haven’t seen you try other Italian dishes aka Lasagna or Spaghetti Bolognaise/Carbonara etc. Just wondered if that’s something else to film food wise that’s different.. Saw a Vlog of DJ eating lasagna at El Pellicis and it looked amazing. Beautiful blue skies makes you smile no matter what mood you are in. Take care 😘👍🏻
Some lovely looking food there Lee and you chose sausages and cheese!
You chose unwisely.
Old Town looks great.
What you have there is pinchos/pinxos, not traditional tapas. Tapas is more of an event, a couple of hours spent with friends with small dishes of food. Pinchos/pinxos is small bites of food served on bread with a skewer in that region of Spain. You need to try again 😉
Pinchos are meat on a skewer. What Lee was eating are called montadido's.
@@lisajrable not really, "Pintxos are originary from the Basque Country and are the ones with the toothpick ("pintxo" in Basque langaige or "pincho" in Spanish means thorn or spike). Montaditos are basically the same concept (something on top of a small slice of bread) ,but these are originary from the south of Spain." as found online, but the style here was more pinchos/pinxos. Pictures when searching for both will back that up, along with videos such as the ones from Spain Revealed
Okay so what Lee is eating looks more like Basque pintxo but let's be honest: tapas and pinxto are very similar - it's just a little snack to have while having a drink! Tapas is more a style of eating rather than a defined list of acceptable dishes, as Ines Ortega says in his book, almost anything can be tapas if it's served with a drink and he's an authority on the subject so I trust him! The reason so many people are whining this isn't tapas is because us Brits have a pretty odd view of what tapas actually is and eat the same old stuff every time we go out for it, so we think it 'has' to be meatballs, or it 'has' to be garlic prawns or patatas bravas or whatever, which is just nonsense really. Little bits of stuff on bread is tapas too.
Not convinced that’s real tapas to be honest. Place and area looked great though!
Sorry Lee, I have to agree with some other comments, that is not proper tapas. I usually watch your vlogs sitting at my local bar in La Palma, as I am today. My tapas today was anchovies in garlic. Free! It can be anything they're serving, goat's cheese, potato salad, garlic, prawns, etc.
Next time you're in Tenerife, get the Craicmaster to bring you here to 'La Isla Bonita'!
Great vlog Lee, and for once you didn’t mention”Daniel at Tenerife First Excursions”😂😂😂
Good to see some different foods
Great video mate....onwards...💪♥️👍
So glad your loving benidorm ....I love the heartbreak Hotel bar which you passed on way to the old town ...keep it up pal
Those two sausages are Chistorras, fast-cure sausages from Aragon, the Basque Country. It is a special type of chorizo sausage. It is made of minced pork and beef and is flavored with garlic, salt and paprika, which gives it its bright red color . It is sometimes a part of tapas.
Good on Lee, indulging in Spanish Tapas. Tapas, olives and drinks is what Spain is famous for me! 😁👍
"I"m not old im a classic" a great MM Tshirt!!!
Great to see so many people recognise you. Tapas looked really 👍 👍
Well done for trying the Local food !!! Lol. Great fun vlog. By the way i hope your arranging a party for when you hit 100k and go live with all your presenter friends.
We will be going back to Benidorm sometimes with many bar and shops to look at and also friendly people's there to having a bit of fun in the warm weather, We stay in Montemar hotel which in the old town of Benidorm, We also go to Playa del Ingles in Gran Canaria, Corralejo in Fuertvenetuna and La Cala de Mijas in Malaga every year while we both retirement . Spoons couple from Basildon in Essex
A lot of traditional tapas are really hard to find, but new or fusion can be just as tasty.....kind of. Great vlog Lee👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Good vlog Lee & nice to see Tapas something different. 👍
You can tell you enjoyed the old town lee, your face was beeming, great vlog mate 👍
Refreshing change seeing you do Benidorm. Not sure what tapas you have had before to think it's like leftovers 😀 Try Iberica in Leeds, not been for a while but it was very good last time I did.
Only ever been to Benidorm once in my life(nosiy part), if I ever went again it would be to a quiter part. I think I would eat the tapas minus the bread. Beach looked nice and clean. 😁
Love the show and enjoy the craic Onwards
Glad you are tasting something more in keeping with the area.Like the look of the old town 😀
Haha, just listening you talk about the channel and thinking about that LIVE you did with Silver Fox in Long Island, New York on that outside terrace. That was absolutely mental!! So funny 😂 🤣
Lee your loving beni. Was there in Oct I just love it don't do British side but lovw old town pointe side
100 montaditos in Benidorm is the best you should go there to try Lee. It is also tapas and then is it 1 euro each tapas. It is the same as in Tenerife in the Siam mall. Have a Nice evening Lee
Love tapas... been to Spain loads and still love it for a bargain holiday... well done Lee... but am lookin forward to you an Darren goin India 🇮🇳 🥰🥰🤣🤣🎩®️©️⚘🏴
Interesting, as I’ve never been to Benidorm. The older town looks more like my kind of thing. I was surprised at the tapas. Nothing like the ones I had in Sheffield, which were small dishes of tasty things like spicy potatoes, mushrooms and other stuff. Glad to see you out and about again.
What he had was pinchos/pinxos, small bit of food served on bread with a skewer, not traditional tapas, sounds like you had normal tapas in Sheffield lol
great v/blog lee enjoyed watching glad your having a nice time its been raining every day in england since you been gone we need sun shine from abroad here
Tapas - 'left over christening food' Brilliant!! 🤣🤣 I was also sceptical frist time I went for Tapas (in uk I might add), all those little bowls, with not much in. But when you have a few different things, and with a nice beer, it does fill you up, and isn't as 'buffet' as you might think.
Haven't been to Benidorm sicne I was a kid on a family holiday (lot different to what its like now), but its reminds me a lot of Ibiza which I love. It has its beaches and lively bits full of bars and clubs, but then it has the traditional town centres if you want to get away from the madness.
Brilliant Lee going to old town in Oct for 3 weeks bet your back in benidorm real soon 👍👌👍
Well done, I’m there in February and you’ve done well to encourage me to do Tapas alley
The island is called Dove island!
i had tapas last yr at street tapas in tapas alley and i had 6 tapas and a 1 litre jug of sangria for 12 euros :) going 2 weeks tomorrow and will be at the poniente side and going to tapas alley :)
British tapas = dripping on a slice of bread in smoke filled 80s pub .. happy memories as a kid :)
Great video again, informative and upbeat 👍
Tapas alley ! Amazing! Key is to have a glass of vino with one tapas and move on and do the same again! 😊
Loving the vlogs in Benidorm and the weather !
Hi Lee Small world right! Thanks for the local food scene with tapas,Benidorm looks like the place to be in mid January .the girl should wear a plastic taupe lol take care
Just subscribed , great video love Benidorm love Lucy and the Benidorm enthusiats team but wow man you got 300 victor and vicky meldrews commenting haha

Love watching you . Have a lovely time there
I love Lanzarote but still make a point of going to Benidorm once a year usually September been going around 30 years and I'm sure you will understand every time i go wondering around the streets i always find something new that makes the holiday
I think you need to try again Lee 🤣🤣🤣 they were not tapás....and the spicy sausage is chorizo 🤣👍
Lol. 😂 love the comments here. I pinned one who said it's actually proper tapas. 😂
You'll have to try a Paella, we had one in majorca. Fantastic
