I have to clean my lcpii almost weekly and I carry it in kydex and appendix It gets shot maybe twenty times every month or so and at the end of every week nearly the front sight gets rust. I've tried all different kinds of products and holsters. I thought it was because of sweat but even when its cooler it will rust. I have a security 9 and have the same issue. Beginning to just think its ruger and what ever the slides are made of.
it possibly could be just ruger. i dont carry a ruger very often mostly the glock 26 even though i have my lcp2 on me as im typing this lol. try the ballistol on it it kinda leaves a oil film behind
ugh i cant deal with cleaning guns any more like that. now i just use the cleaning/lube spray can take the slide off or upper what ever, spray it, hit it with a air compressor, then wipe down accordingly, if its one of my hipoints that is dirty i REFUSE to clean it, i just send it back on a warranty claim and they send me a new one lol.
I'm always glad to help locals get up and going, if there is anything I can do to help just let me know.
thank you!
I learned the hard way to clean my EDC on the regular my first EDC is covered in rust lol.
That's not good at all. some 0000 steel wool and good oil will help tremendously with rust! I use Birchwood Casey Barricade on rust spot

My g29 used to do that until I used bsllistol on it
I’ve had failures, but only with bad ammo.... mostly steel case.
I just had some steel case get stuck in an ar-15 pistol. I had to beat it out with a rod.
Definitely a must.
If you take care of your guns, your guns will take care of you.
So true!

That's a pretty clever idea lol.
