"EDC can be a black hole where people get lost in the weeds"...THIS. You nailed it, John. A lot of videos over the years from many creators just feel like people trying to overthink what type of exigencies may exist (no matter how unlikely) that they end up looking nuts or carrying too much stuff. As you mentioned, when you don't craft your EDC to at least be practical first, you run the risk of deciding not to carry it which defeats the entire point of having an EDC in the first place. Great stuff, looking forward to your other content.
Unfortunately it took me the long way around to realize this. I went Buck wild 4 day bugout in the woods EDC when I first started, then realized. Duh, I live in an urban environment and streamlined it to realistic emergencies I could face in that setting. Became a lot more utilitarian , useful and practical.
I prefer keeping it simple, I think the most accurate products I've got are my leather wallet and my sunglasses. Just can't get out of the house without it!
I've seen many people carrying the lighter with duct tape. I stumbled upon the fact that a regular bic lighter will fit both a wrap of duct tape and a wrap of electrical tape side by side (or stacked depending on how you're looking at it) I put the duct tape to where it fits flush with the top of the plastic on the lighter. Then the electrical tape will fit at the bottom. It's been helpful more than a few times over the last year and a half.
Pretty much what I learned to carry off duty. When I go hiking, my edc pack is different, when I go downtown, its different. Great video. Super simple.
Something that got me by surprise was no spray weapon. Some people think oc/cs/cn sprays are in the women's category, but it between talk and gun, there is spray.
Can’t say enough about testing the gear. Back in my ultra marathon days I decided to start carrying a water pack. Bought it a couple days before the event and never used it. It was so annoying less than 3 miles in that I ditched it and relied on aid stations that were few and far between.
I bought the Eberlestock Bando recently and wanted to love it but… it was just a touch too small to carry my G19 w/ RMR and I didn’t like not having a quick reaction pull tab!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Good video. The only thing I’m surprised to see you don’t carry is a pepper spray of any kind. I think everyone should carry an OC spray whether they have a firearm or not. It can be a lifesaving tool for some before you ever use your firearm. A pepper spray and flashlight are on me at all times as well as most of your tools. Like you said though, everyone has their own preference. Good job on the video.
Gatorz are cool, I have 3 pair. I carry a folding Spyderco knife, small Olight flashlight, Kore belt or Hanks leather belt. Glock19 MOS with Holoson 507C, POM pepper spray , spare mag .
I've had an issue where the gun compartment zippers work their way open if I run the zippers off to the side. I've only been able to run them center. I don't think the storage pockets are overly packed either.
Great content man! Just a suggestion from a video standpoint. You might consider changing your background or your clothes to something lighter. That way you don’t disappear into the background and it will show more depth. Hope that’s helpful but keep up the good videos!
Another thing you should do is remove the pull tab on the other zipper so you only pull on the one you want to open and not accidentally pull both in a stressful situation.
Fanny Pack nerd here: Get the XL version of that bag. Can easily fit a Glock 45 w/ an Acro. Furthermore, watch the fanny sack video from Spiritus. The way they stage the gun is ingenious (basically tying the pistol into the bag). Cheers, and you have a new sub here. Great content.
Very good common sense and realistic setup. As someone else said, people get all in the weeds and go down the rabbit hole and make it more complicated than it really needs to be. I also like you rock a fanny pack, they are a solid piece of kit if you’re willing to look outside the box. Overall, a well done, solid video, UA-cam needs more of these, thank you.
Get rid of the rat TQ. They've been proven to not work well, and fail during patient movement. For concealability, I would switch to the SOF-T. It folds up much flatter than a CAT-7 does, and it is easily hidden in pockets.
The SOF-T is a phenomenal tourniquet and probably my favorite especially for ppl trapped in vehicles. However the rat is easily concealed and can obtain occlusion on limbs of any size ie kids. I carried SOF-Ts and CATs in my old job and still carry a bag full of each for my current job. But I’m not needing to CASEVAC anyone out of Afghan anymore or something where I’m so focused on the patient movement part. The EDC mission for me is to stop the bleeding until a higher echelon of care arrives. If you put it on right the rat does just fine for me.
A Rat TQ is okay for civilian use because IF applied right it will occlude and it works on animals and children. Also in most scenarios the first responders will actually change the tourniquet to ensure it is applied correctly and is needed. Now do I recommend it as the best? No, personally I recommend the Snakestaff systems TQ’s.
You should consider the everyday carry tourniquet wide by Snakestaff Systems. Small CAT style but not TCCC approved yet. But the Rats tq is awful there’s been extensive research that shows it’s better than nothing but only sometimes

Former combat medic here. Not a fan of the RATS TQ at all. It's not approved by CoTCCC for use. The band is too narrow and can cause tissue damage. Also since it doesn't have a windlass, it's hard to retighten if the need arises.
@@matthewrussell3935 is it the best? Definitely not. Does it do the job if you know how to use it, yes. In daily carry it’s important to me to be able to obtain occlusion on kids. A CAT for example won’t. It’s very mission specific. It will work on kids and adults. There pros but also cons. Overall I agree but you’re never gonna check all the boxes

Sorry couldn't watch the video I can't stand background music, its completely unnecessary and annoying when you're trying to concentrate on what's being said.
Great video, but you need to ditch the RAT TQ. The American college of surgeons determined it couldn't completely eliminate a pulse below a hemorrhaging wound without being applied so tight that it would cause more damage and it failed to get a recommendation from the CoTCCC. That leads into the company that created it and their shady business practice. Failing to get the recommendation from the CoTCCC, they created a company called the TCCC to and said that they approved it to dupe anyone who didn't know the difference or that the CoTCCC doesn't approve anything and only makes evidence based recommendations. If you're going to carry life saving medical equipment please consult an actual medical professional (such as a physician or your local EMS Department) and make sure to get real training with whatever equipment you use. No hate intended at you or wps, but the RAT tq should be avoided if you're going to spend money on something that you might have to rely on to save a life.

What brand flannel?
Solid EDC.
Practical and sensible. Question, what shirt is that? I like that it has a spot for your shades!
I appreciate it! It’s made by Pancho outdoors. They’re awesome!
Great video!

What barrel do you have in the 48?
here is a link to the barrel! It's made by Backup Tactical. A buddy recommended it to me, and it's done fine for me although the coating on the top did catch the slide for a few mags until it wore in but know works great.

Which comp do you have on your Glock 48?
It’s the Griffin Arms comp!
I've always been curious about GPS watches... in a bugout situation, I assume one wouldn't take a gps watch with you because its trackable???

How much duct tape do you wrap around the lighter? Like how many feet or inches?
just a few wraps goes a long way
@@TheJohnLeMar I measured 1 foot. If I ever need it, I hope it’s enough. Any more than a foot makes me feel weird and extra. I initially kept it on my lighter just in case I needed to tape a gauze wrap or something then I just got real medical tape.

What holster do you run for your 48 mos?
Here is a link! It's the T1C Axis Elite. I had it custom made to my gun. I tried carrying it appendix like designed but have been trying it at 4 o'clock without the spare mag. www.tier1concealed.com/collections/iwb-holsters/products/axis-elite?variant=17963595235399
@@TheJohnLeMar do you prefer strong side carry over appendix?
@@Matthewdennis1 Hey Matthew! My personal belief is that appendix is the tactically superior option being accessible to both hands if you get wrapped up and it’s very fast, however that being said for me, I like strong side. For me, strong side is more comfortable in many different ways, and I’ve trained to go strong side for 15 years, so even though I like appendix, I personally carry strong side myself.
What do you prefer?
@@TheJohnLeMarI am still trying to figure out which is better for me I can’t seem to get use to either one they both feel uncomfortable to me I think I just need to give it more time I ordered a tier 1 strong side holster to see how that is
@@Matthewdennis1 that’s good you’re trying different things to see what works for you. It may take time trying different size and brands of pistols and/or holsters to find something comfortable that wont overburden you. Sounds like you’re on the right track by being open minded.

@@dantheradlad5802 solid info and I appreciate the educated response. I’ll look more into this myself! I’m new to the rats TQ so I’m definitely open to others of course. Thanks again!
