I bough one about 2 weeks ago for UA-cam videos. I really like the combination of the xlr-handle thingy and new Rode Go II mic set. I can have one thing less when filming when I don't have the external audio recorder any more and no audio files to sync on edit. Best thing ever for lazy people like me :D Also the 4k@120fps is nice, especially when you can trust that the camera won't get a heat stroke. I have had couple times A6000-series cameras dying on the summer when we have had bigger explosions and it takes long time to get everybody far enough to be safe before it starts to rain car parts or something else like that :D Only bigger negative is the screen, it's just too small so I have to use external when doing something more demanding or something that I have to perfect. Aaand the nd-filters would been really nice also. But in total solid upgrade from A6000 series and still looks close enough so I can easily mix the footage from those with this new camera (I have two A64000s, A6500 and A6600 :D)
Same! I actually bought an adhesive backed cold shoe and stuck it to the top of the XLR module so I could stick the wireless receiver up there and plug it into the 3.5mm input. Pretty sweet!
The Sony FX3 is way more suitable for professional video work than the a7S III hands down. They have similar image quality which is great but the FX3 is way more suitable and reliable for video with features like an active cooling system, XLR inputs for professional audio, dedicated video buttons, better ergonomics with the included top handle. Details that makes all the difference.
I literally asked my coworker about the difference in the two and which one they would get. They know NOTHING about camera's. Even they picked the FX3 and even argued the camera's ARE different. The FX3 has the zoom capability, the buttons are different with extra buttons. Although these changes are small, its about work vs functionality. Life can be much easier with the extra buttons, you don't have to think or go the extra step when the buttons are right there. The fX3 also has the zoom function, so if I have a 24mm Prime on I can zoom in in which I may be at a 30-35mm focal length because of the zoom, saves money in buying 2 lenses possibly. Still, the zoom is a useful and worth mentioning advantage. The A7Siii, if it had a zoom function, then I would say they are are the same.... THEY ARE NOT! Also, the fan... we know Sony has been killing it with the NON- overheating factor but for some who live in hot places like me (TEXAS) when temp is 102 and you try vlogging in your car....psh, the canon r5/r6 won't make it for sure. With the FX3 fan, life is great.
The A7Siii and FX3 share the same clear-image zoom capabilities. On the A7Siii you access this through an awkward process involving most likely customizing a body button to turn it on and the front thumb wheel. On the FX3 there is a dedicated zoom switch. The biggest practical difference in my opinion is the integration of 4 channel audio through the XLR handle.
I love how this video brought back the original Potato Jet randomness. BTW, does anybody know if the FX3 screen is bright enough in sunlight to ditch the viewfinder?
I sold my A7SIII for the FX3 simply for the XLR inputs. I was trying to find an XLR-K3M for the longest time but they've been sold out everywhere. Plus I don't love how they hang off of the hotshoe. The top handle on the FX3 is ideal! Sound is great too. I also never used my EVF so that wasn't a loss. I wish Sony included two 1/4-20 mounts on the side so we could add a handle. Only having one means we'll need a cage either way.
@@LampeProductions_nl I'm sure they'll get creative with cages given there's so many 1/4-20's on the FX3. I could imagine a 1/2 cage that covers the sides and bottom but leaves the top open or partially open to allow for the top handle to still attach. For the most part I'll only be using XLR's tripod mounted so its not a huge deal. For me, this is a really ideal camera. I can throw it in my backpack, or put it on a tripod with high quality mics!
I love the fact that you can put your hands on some beatifull and expensive stuff yet still being excited by a brand new 100usd printer. Honestly, I feel the same way about my dirt cheap laser wireless printer :D I can´t believe that I haven´t really run into any issues with it in the last 3 years. And that´s how you can tell that as a society we are definitely progressing.

Pretty much the perfect small-format videocamera. But if we're gonna be picky, I would have liked: - Bigger and higher resolution LCD (this is now one of the smallest and lowest resolution ones on the market) -Built in ND-filters (like FX6) -(Canon's lovely RF mount lenses ;))
The bird that attacked you is a red tailed hawk, super common and very awesome birds! my fun fact about them is in movies, when you hear an eagle make its famous call, its actually a red tailed hawk. The reason is because eagles sound like seagulls, really weak and wimpy, so they dub it over in movies with the powerful red tailed hawk call.

I use shutter angle on my GH5 exclusively. I change framerate quite a bit for some of the shoots I do and never need to think about shutter speed. It's pretty much a deal breaker to not have that on a cinema camera.
It’s crazy how useful the GH5 still is. I had the agency I work for buy one a few years ago and we’re still using it. Never had a single issue with it.
I'm still using a Laserjet 4000 from 1998, not even USB, but it has an ethernet card, plugged in to the router, so from the laptop side it's wireless... :D

Anyone else happy with their purchase of the 6k a year ago and the find out this came out? Honestly the ND filter is the only thing that seems like a massive upgrade. I don’t like shooting on eye piece and rather have a full articulating screen.
Let's hope FX3 will get an Firmware update 2.0 with A7IV features, like A7SIII got an FX3 (S-Cinetone) update as 2.0. It'll make FX3 a step above A7SIII.
Would like to see the 6k pro against the C70. People have also been talking about colour shifts in the screen and from the ND filters. Did you face any issue? Also, one thing that puzzled me always was that internal NDs are still in steps. If you had to change ISO to a non-native level to compensate for 1/3 stop changes, wouldn't that impact the noise to a certain degree?
Internal nds will always be in steps..... unless its sony’s electronic nd but they prob have patents on that. Its a physical piece of glass being put in front of the sensor.....
i will stick to the cylindrical camcorder form..its safer for the hands..if you want to do a handheld shoot for hours without a shoulder rig/stabilizer. i am waiting for a vg90 update or probably a replacement. eyes are crucial for film making..the more squarish gadgets we use or make the more our vision will be blocked..the cylindrical form is an advantage. just include an outward sideward swivelling monitor so your vision will stay centered. the cylindrical form is still the best form for film making.
It's a great camera but is it worth upgrading, no if you have a (A7siii), do you hate using a camera cage then go for it, do you want to take pictures a view finder is very useful(A7siii), it's all about personal preference.
I always use intern stabilisation on small camera and no stabisation on the big one (like the red) because it's heavy! What about the Blackmagic 6k Pro? A medium body, no stabilisation, it's possible to shoot nice handhelds with a cine lens without accessories?
if you are beginner it would be better to get something with autofocus. You are gonna miss a lot the focus of your videos with the BMPCC and it's a pain when you are in the editing room
For the black magic 6k video: what type of lens mount does it use, and what would be a reason to go for the bmpcc over a canon or sony camera of the same caliber
It uses EF like the 6k that's already out. It just has built in ND and pivot screen (1500nits) and an optional viewfinder, and better battery (Sony NP-F550) and all BMPCCs got upgraded color science as well as 2 XLRs. Gene lemme know if I got it all lol.

But with a (full) cage you probably can't use the top handle and you lose your XLR inputs.

How does the BM6k hold up compared to the C70, or fx3-9 or a7siii or r5
1/48th of s second is also important for lights. Because 1/50th can cause quite some issues in NTSC land.
