Used to hike this mile every year for about 6 years with 2 close friends. I'm literally 11 miles from the NH trailhead. It's a great hike. Usually there's still ice under the boulders in July!
On my thru hike it took me 1:15. But we we so scared it was gonna take longer as just before we entered we ran into some hikers that took 3 hours doing it
@@AdamHoyt It wasn’t slow because it was hard. It was slow because I couldn’t maintain anywhere near my usual 2.5 mph pace. In fact it was easier because I had to slow down to wind my way through it. It’s all about perception. I didn’t perceive anything hard during that mile.
@AdamHoyt I never said your video was bad, I'm simply commenting my thoughts from my experience, and my belief is it is not the most difficult mile but I am just 1 of many.
We didn't think it was the most difficult. I think the difficulty depends on the weather and or how much of the trail you have done before you got there. We thought it was more fun than difficult. And I also filmed it😁
I know it sounds weird, but I'd try to schedule it as an early morning scramble. That way I would have start of day energy.
That's a solid plan for sure!
Welcome to maine bro!
Oo hell yeah!

That’s so cool! I remember it being way closer to where I usually stay than I expected! Maybe you should start the tradition again!
@@AdamHoyt knees are smoked. I save all my walking for hunting season.
Good info I'm doing the trail through walk this December for my birthday starting in Georgia and ending in Maine
Sick! Dude I bet Maine has crazy bouldering
Sure is!
A lot of Maine was bogs and beaver ponds. You could hike up a mountain and on top.... rock bowl peat bogs.
Looks like a blast, with beautiful surroundings. Plan on hiking it with my son (now an 8yo), pretty sure I'll require us to wear bike helmets
Wanna hike the AT with him starting somewhere in NH, and finish somewhere in Maine
Sounds like it will be a great bonding experience. Best of luck!
Welcome to Maine hahaha
Lol
Bull
haha The way you describe the experience is hilarious
As late nh as it kept you watching and entertained!
App-uh-latch-un

@@AdamHoyt ha!
Thank you
I found the up right after to be much harder. The trail is granate, and slippery.
many people have been tellign me that!
There are bigfoot there... Just trying to sleep at night is mind blowing...
Wow
Great hike
One of the best!
I’m section hiking this area next week!
Have fun!
I loved it because it was still cool with little ice even with it being super warm right above. Also, it’s not that bad.
I wonder how long the ice lasts?
That's dope af , I'm jealous
It’s sick!

You really have no idea. Some hikers it really kicks their ass and it is slow going haha.
I forgot to subscribe last time! I hear there there is talk with AT to bypass this?
that would be news to me!
Looks fun I would do that😅
You’d love it!
Woah that’s about a 10 minute drive away for me!
Do it!
I wouldn’t call it hard. I’d call it the slowest mile on the trail. But the climb out of the notch, now that was hard.
Some could consider slowest to be hardest to get through. All depends on your definition I suppose.

….sounds like any alpine hike in the cascades…
Edit: or any other mountain range
Oo then tell me the trails that go through the car sized boulders there. I’d love to hike them!
45 minutes. I didn't find it that difficult, just as the approach trail was not difficult.
I need to get lessons from you then! Or maybe you should try filming it by yourself next time 😂😂
@AdamHoyt I never said your video was bad, I'm simply commenting my thoughts from my experience, and my belief is it is not the most difficult mile but I am just 1 of many.
I did film it and added it to my channel. For me it was alot of fun but for some I suppose it can be difficult in navigation.

Honestly it was so much fun! Took me just over an hour to do it
It certainly wakes up your sense of adventure!
Rocks the size of people? 😂 much larger you’ve been to Disneyland or Houston, TX.
App uh LATCH un!! Pronounce it correctly!
I am.
doesn't look that hard tho with a big pack wouldn't be much fun
Yes never forget the pack!
Go around it
Where’s the fun in that
basically all hikes in alaska.
Not the one I went on lol.
@@AdamHoyt guess it wasn’t much of a hike
then.
@@patrickcoyne1292 ya I’d say no I only needed one acl and one good knee to do it bahaha
@@AdamHoyt your mishaps don’t dictate whether a hike is difficult. you could suck at waking up in the morning too. doesn’t mean it’s hard…
Come out west to the sierra nevadas for real mountains.
Interesting
