Which do you prefer, iPhone 14 or Galaxy S23 and why? 🤔
S23
It has more features that iPhone right?❤
I like iphone, iphone 14! ☀️
Is the giveaway local ?
I'm from India, can I participate?
Been a subscriber of yours since a while now!
Both phones are incredible, but I prefer the iPhone because of the ecosystem and how simple it is to use (personally not into customizations).
Great video, Dion!
@dudzaalunday
Iam choosing s23 over iPhone 14 because of display, i went to store and tryed out both together. Just because of refresh rate the iPhone feel last gen. Also samsung trade-in deals are awesome
Make sure the low PWM on S23 doesn't damage your eyes
@@BruceLee-go2vy its been 4 months since i bought the s23 i didn't find any such issues. Only thing that frustrate me is, I need to turn on/off silent mode separately in my s23 and galaxy watch. I will go into meeting thinking my phone is in silent my watch will ring.
@@boobeshkumar406 try 'modes & routines'... !
@@boobeshkumar406set your daily changes in modes and routine snd it can silence both devices without you having to even look at your phone or turn it on
We escaped the iPhone matrix, samsung s23 is the superior.
😂😂😂😂
So you entered the Samsung matrix, well done muppet !
yeah so superior that I was planning to get one for my business as I am a Samsung user for years now and it turns out it has a factory issue with the camera and I can't take document photos with it
Yes
It’s superior even to the 14 pro
S23 user here. Incredible phone. Even my sister sold her iPhone 13 to get the S23
Hi, is your sister still using S23 and happy with the camera ? I ordered S23 and watching reviews and I'm a kinda worried about the camera
@@Erenty it's better than iphone 13 for sure. She's a happy user.
One thing to keep in mind in terms of the resale value is that Samsung tends to offer great trade-in deals, so people do not keep their phones near as long as an iPhone. Also the iPhone tens to be iterative with its new phones, making there less incentive to trade up. Samsung tends to have new features and creates an incentive to upgrade. You also can consider the value in that you can either purchase a year old phone for such less of a price but also trade that phone up if you wanted a new one and in many times with a busted screen, making the profit margin on trade up even greater.
Between these 2 I'll go with the S23 for the reasons mentioned in the video and the fact that you can still swap out the physical SIM if you jump between Android and iPhone often which was not mentioned in this video. I don't think the iPhone 14 is good value either since it's basically a iPhone 13 with 2023 pricing. Very sad Apple did not use their new chip on their new phone and force you to get the Pro model in order to get it.
Let us see what the 15 will bring -:)
@@DionMedia iPhone 14 and 15 will probably still be the same phone
The normal iPhone 14 is also selling really bad like the mini iPhone before. :)
@wizp0p
You gave me a huge relief by answering these questions. These 2 phones are beasts but you might have made me stuck between these two phones. I would love to see questions about the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the S23 Ultra. Thanks Dion
The advantage is that the Samsung is getting on sale compared to Iphone that never get discount! I got brand new S23Uktra for 800$ which is already an amazing deal.
As a person using a Samsung S20FE 5G phone, I appreciate the Samsung ecosystem. I have other Samsung devices, so moving files and data between my other Samsung devices and Windows laptops 💻 very easy. Yes the iPhone is better overall, by the Samsung is not far off, especially the Ultra versions.
@giwrgws_s
Honestly, iPhone is an obvious win (for me). The reliability, longevity and benefits regarding resale is unmatched and iOS itself feels smoother and bug free. I don’t use my phone for gaming nor do I care for extreme customisation so it may be why I don’t prefer android as an operating system but also since I regularly have to use the ecosystem features apple has with their devices, using my MacBook for university.
For me it's a easy win for Samsung, the freedom of Android is enough reason for me to choose it.
@@quaversal6997iOS is currently less smooth than android
Especially on the 60hz phones
@quaversal6997 i used samsung dex on my phone, a samsung tablet, and windows computer for college. All of them were synced up snd I could actually move files from completely different locations with quickshare. The ecosystem is actually more synced up than apple, especially considering IOS's limited clipboard and link sharing capabilities.
I like the samsung s23 more because of the display,because of the faster charging and i personaly like the camera more,but this video is a really great review of these phones.
I switched from iPhone 14 to S23 and what I can say is that even if I got a lot of functionalities and integrations (for instance spotify playlists inside routines), I miss the concerts videos.
iOS is so good recording music, while S23 it's just too much noisy, you can't distinguish all the instruments.
Btw I'll stay with Samsung because I can't pay 1000€ for just having good videos at concerts.
Is there a battery difference between ufs 3.1 and 4.0 versions of s23 ???
@rachelcxt68
Question, what about S23 vs the 14 pro version? Which is generally more recommend for better gaming and camera experience?
@katadoto
Think when it comes to the base models I'd personally go with the s23 mainly because of the screen, both in terms of smoothness and how that helps with battery life. Really disappointing Apple chose to not include that with the 14 especially given it still has the old notch design. If however I were to win an apple 14 I'd have no complaints whatsoever hahahaha
Hi Alun, even if you win, you are allowed to complain :). Let us see on the 11th of June
Flickering on the camera is not an issue but rather a good thing. Means the phone is lowering the frames on static pages to save battery. Since iPhone already have low standard refresh rates, they "don't need" to lower the frames even more.
@jonivictor
I have a S23, and it does everything I need. Good grip, excelent gaming performance, Good sound and image.
Only thing that acknowledge is that iPhones câmera is better. Theres a lot of situations I had to take multiple shots to get a good image a friend of mine took with one on iPhone.
But I still think that the Android ecossistem is a lot easier to work with.
Hi Joni, thanks for sharing your point of view
You're very biased towards the iphone
Hi, well I am not, at least I honestly try not to be. It is true that I come from the IOS Ecosystem, but I am increasingly impressed by Samsung
@@DionMedia you might not realize it but I do. The least biased reviewer on this platform is Dave2D
@joshjeebles
Without looking at the OS it's clear the s23 is a better phone. iPhone 14 is a good phone but not for its price. They both are about the same price but the s23 comes with an additional telephoto lens and a 120hz screen and that imo makes it more valuable
Why video quality selection is unavailable in this video?
@samtaicho
I actually prefer the S23. I believe having an iPhone without being fully into the Apple ecosystem is just meaningless as you don't get to enjoy most of the features Apple offers. That being said, the iPhone is certainly better when it comes to resell value.
@lukesingson
I think with samsung and iphone its always about if u want more for comparatively less or longevity and stability.
The only video on the entirety of the internet that answered the questions that I wanted to know. Thank you!
Good to hear!
I never sell my phones because of trust issues, so I don’t care about resale 😅.
Anyway, I had android phones before but not the flagship models. They lasted 2-3 years before becoming laggy and unusable. So I tried apple, and although it was difficult to adapt at first (it felt like a jail 😂) I got used to it eventually and I’m still using it 7 years later. Now I’m going back to android, but this time with the top model s23 ultra. It looked like a better deal. Let’s see how it goes.
Do you not know that you can completely wipe your data from a phone

My iPhone 14 Pro Max don’t have the same notch as yours? Mine has the dynamic island.
Correct, I show a different model
Bro where is camera difference you must mention it for fair rewiew the third telephoto lens
@tematotherescue
Great thorough video as always!
IMO the reason that matters the most is Android vs iOS. Those of us who prefer Apple ecosystem won't switch to Android no matter how great the particular phone is. All new non-Pro iPhones should've gotten the 120Hz by now though =\
Thanks!
That's actually pretty crazy to say lmao. That's like knowingly brainwashing yourself to only prefer a specific product even if the other is better for your quality of life. No disrespect, you can choose how to live your life. I just thought that was a pretty crazy confession 😭
What about battery like which will last longer in long term as we can also replace iphone’s battery from official store compared to samsung ?
Hi, good question. Batteries typically last 600-1000 cycles before they degrade. If you replace them, in the “West” Apple is typically a bit quicker than Samsung, but more expensive, while in the East Samsung in general is both faster and cheaper in replacing
great video but still hard to decide which one to buy...
making decisions is always difficult!
Great video! I appreciate the honesty in covering the strong and weak points of both phones. I ended up picking the S23
Good choice and enjoy it!
I can't use instagram duality in s23 back then in android phones there's dual option feature for instagram
Bro you have nice videos it's such a shame only so little views.. best of luck for the long run ahead
Thanks, I only started two years ago, so quite pleased with the progress. Thanks for your encouragement
If you want to unlock your phone with a tilted finger
Save them with the same same angle when adding fingers in security...
@redsigned😊
I think that the Galaxy looks better than the iPhone 14. It's got a screen closer to the edges, a thinner, less bulky design... but the iPhone has the obvious status symbol value-being Apple stuff and all.
Apple lost its status symbol a long time ago, since you can buy it in split payments.
I've been to Thailand recently and even a 15 year old tour guide assistant had an iPhone 14 Pro.
I've seen plenty of other cases of people with low salaries owning an iPhone 14 Pro, most likely to show off that "status" symbol. But you can tell at first glance that their status is not as high as the iPhone implies.
The depreciation in value is not entirely dependent on the software support. It comes down to the false idea in common peoples mind that iphone is somehow superior and has a premium status and thus is ready to pay more for the same.
@rathishwaran
Best comparison video. I prefer Samsung S23 over iPhone 14 bcoz of the compact form factor.
Love from India... Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Thanks, I will do my best!
Both are compact tbh
I have a phone with 90hz display but still I keep the setting on 60hz to save battery, so refresh rate doesn't matter to me.
Lol too bad my s23+ has 120hz refresh rate and still gets 9 hours of screen on time with heavy usage.
@@jordanjackson8873 You can turn it off and can get 11 hours of SOT
display flicker is due to lacking pwm dimming on display panel.
@blackwing_
I have been looking for this comparison between the iPhone 14 vs S23. Thank you😊
Question: How about the battery life?
@1:38 it's actually the same as the iPhone 13 not the Pro aka A15
@vgestelmaarten
Great quality video, as always, Dion! You always explain everything so well.
Great job!
Thanks Maarten
just the review i was needing to decide on my next purchase
Glad it was helpful!
Bro how you dont have any Pixel 7/Pro video
To be honest yall the only deal breaker in the iphone 14 is the refresh rate because if the 14 got 120hz then it would be a very good deal
Just by reading the title, I knew where this video would go but still came here anyways to read comments 🤣
ah, there are great comments
@bedinhooo
I think Samsung is doing a better job on their smallest flagship. The S23 has a better screen (without that ridiculous notch that the iphone has) , a more versatile camera, a design that I find more attractive and also a NEW and better chipset.
Which phone is better dont know but i prefer both
@kyle.thomas.lorenzo
The S23 offers more for the same price, so it’s kind of a no brainer on what to buy
I believe the display flickering issue in Samsung S23 is because of 240Hz touch sampling rate. iPhone 14 has a slightly better 360Hz touch sampling rate.
its not issue bro as long as its not noticed when using the phone
why he said its an issue
@@redkay7969 some people's eyes are sensitive to lower PWM and there have been reports of people getting migraine after using Samsung smartphones in lower brightness. So I think PWM rate does matter if smartphones are sold at a premium price.
It's not because of that it's because the refresh rate drops according to what app you're in, or it just drops of the phone is idle. It can drop to 24hz so that it saves battery and prevents burn in on certain screens by limiting the pixels and backlight.
favorite video so far
Thanks!
@jemwell TBH, I'm really an Apple fan boy. That said however, I really think the Android phones nowadays, especially Samsung flagship models, really have a lot of features the Iphones don't have. If I'm just going to talk about what the phone can do, I'd go for the Samsung S23. On the otherhand, if the whole ecosystem as well as the prestige you get from having and Apple product is concerned, the I'd definitely go for the Iphone 14. Either way, you won't go wrong getting any of these phones. They're just that good. Anyways, thanks for this vid! Keep the good work!
my mom has a 13 pro with 120 hz and i cant feel the difference lol , i mean when i use her phone i can see that the screen is more fluent but when i get back to my 13 i cant say i want 120 hz , anyone here has the same opinion ??
@josielhen acho muito que a apple devia adicionar a coisa do 120fps em todos o iphones
@incstll
it's amazing how these comparisons made it so clear on which phone is perfect for a specific user. We know that both brands have an amazing products but it's not for all (i guess ?? hahaha) but thanks to Dion, he kinda summaries what each device has to offer. Kudos! 🎉😊
Thanks Ian
What about battery?
S23 is around $699 and iphone 14 is around $1099 in my country, so it was an easy choice
iPhone 15 still stuck with 60hz refresh. Pathetic and not surprising as they are always years behind.
@dcunninglinguist
I was planning on getting a new phone and choosing between these 2 I chose the Galaxy S23. Definitely not paying more for a 60Hz screen and having limited options for what you do with your device because it's an iPhone.
Do not say iPhone has more stability this year s23 8 gen 2 with latest software is more stable and bug free. I have used both,even after one year iPhone couldn’t remove all bugs.
Akramraza_sama
Sir, switching from iOS to android is a big deal and same with Android to iOS. The main concern with these phones is operating system. Otherwise both phones are good , only matters that which OS you prefer.
@jayseb75
I switched from the S22 Ultra to the 14 Pro Max after years of Android only. I love them both!
@luiawitan
I’d go for the iPhone 14 bc of the app support. But I’d love to have the 120Hz refresh rate and the touch ID. 😬
What do you mean about app support
No touch id on iPhone 14.
One topic and lie would be I have way more glitches on my iPhone 14 pro compare to Samsung S21 plus
Samsung updated 4 versions of Android . But when it's 1 or 2 years, they will prioritize Android updates for their new phones first, and then S23, waiting a long time. With iOS, all are updated at the same time for all supported models.
I think the s23 looks way more elegant and futuristic .
What are you talking about bugginess and glitches with the Samsung? I'm still using the S10+ and there has been only 1 time in the last 4.5 years there was a glitch (fixed with turning off/on). This sounds like the talk from 8 years ago and it just doesn't hold water and makes you sound like a pro-Apple reviewer rather than being helpfully unbiased.
Thanks for your feedback and glad with your smooth experience. I do aim to be unbiased.

@woody3710
Great comparison. Just upgraded from the iPhone 12 mini to the Pixel 7 but starting to miss the Apple ecosystem already.
@misterketley
Glad u made this video answering these questions
My pleasure
It's your channel, it's your opinion, but at some point you would have to show a minimum of honesty.
Except the 6s, that received 6 iOS updates, no other iPhone ever received more than 5 iOS updates, and iPhones unlike Android smartphones, lose compatibility with apps much faster as soon as they are no longer updated by Apple.
Regarding the resale value, it is normal that after the first year, Galaxy loses a certain value, because, in reality, no one actually really pays $800 for a standard Galaxy S, and by removing the value of the gifts offered with the purchase of a Galaxy S, its true price is around $600 maximum.
A 60 hertz screen on an $800 smartphone in 2023, Apple should normally be sued for this 🤦🏽♂️.
The screen of the S23 is better and by far, 120 hertz, much brighter screen ...
For speakers and haptic feedback, you can change their intensity in the settings, you can almost multiply the volume of the S23 speakers by 2 and completely change the sound rendering 🔊.
Regarding biometrics, both are good, it is a question of preference and habits, on the other hand, Face-iD, is in no way more secure than a fingerprint reader.
The most interesting biometrics system for me, is Qualcomm's 3D Max Sonic fingerprint reader used by Vivo on its X Pro.
In terms of customization, there is no debate, the S23 is far ahead.
Speaking of reliability, in the last two years, this is the last thing an iPhone can boast 🙃
And speaking of ease of use, have a lot of features, doesn't force you to use them 🤷🏽♂️, ''Who can do more, can do less''
You love Apple, you love iPhones, but, nothing obliges you to tell untruths, to put this iPhone 14 forward, you can really do much better.
🙏🏽
WHAT ABOUT CAMERAS!
I do have iphone 14 and I never use samsung before I always have iphone honestly I am thinking to switch to Samsung but I am really scared of doing that. Do you recommend from your experience? Or just stay with iPhone?? Please answer me. Thank you
Hi, this is an eternal debate, with no definitive answer. In reality many people who are deep into the IOS eco system find it difficult to get out. Some do and survive :). Depends on what you want from a phone and if in your opinion the Samsung offers you things the Apple does not, it might be a good consideration
@mysteryme4t
I've been looking to swap from an android S21 to an iphone, but I've been on the fence on waiting for the 15 or just splurging for a 14 right now. This would help me make a decision way easier
@firerains
I feel like the iphone 14 was just better then Samsung except for the 120hz display
My Samsung S20 started playing up after I set it to 120hz. A phone can't do both, it's either 60, 90 or 120hz. The rest of the S20 doesn't have the capability to keep up with 120hz imho. I am getting an iPhone soon, sick of Samsung now tbh.
@taciktomi
thanks for the great comparison!
Keep up the good work 👍🏼
No intention to do otherwise :)
It doesn't matter about Apple's 5-7 year plan since the unreplaceable battery will barely hold a charge by then anyways lmao
@chejeti.suhas
I have been watching your video's for some time now, and I really like your way of comparing and explaining. I have been thinking about switching to iPhone for quite some time now, but I'm sure that the switch from Samsung to Apple will go with ease. IOS seems perfect for me, especially because of the solid eco system. I can see myself buying an Apple watch and a pair of Airpods after getting my first iPhone. Anyways, keep up the good work, you are doing great in my opinion! :)
Samsung or android give you options. I rather have more ways then have what apple wants me to have. Doing the same thing the same way gets boring
@devanshmalikk
I have use case for two phones and they both are literally perfect as they aren't too flashy like the ultra or pro max
This isn't the right comparison video. It should be the s23 vs the 14 pro, not the base model. The s23 is better in every way when it comes to battery life, camera, screen and charging method usbc. The iphone has longer support but that's not tied to the iphone 14. Resale is irrelevant if you take advantage of carrier trade in deals. I'd rather have a better phone for 5 years vs a lesser phone for 7 years.
@ultimatelegend18
I'd honeslty choose the iphone 14 over the s23 for the long software support iPhone are unanimously the best at, not to mention it being an all around great phone at a great size.
Watching on my S23 256GB green 😅😁
:)
Adoring my s23
i choose Iphone 14 ... Didnt like the samsung S23 atall. Apple looks premium and better security and resale.
No people just love apple
IOS has that popularity and feels more expensive to Android, for it is common... that's why, even after years, people just feel proud to own IOS
I love my iPhone 14 pro. I recently upgraded from the iPhone 3GS and it is amazing! Android is cool but the software begins to lag over time. Camera will randomly crash. Some friends and ex gfs had Android and they all had the same complaints. Want longevity? Get Apple.
Where you in a coma for all these years
@raging.kakai
Galaxy S23 for me. 60hz on Iphone 14 will make it feel really old even with longer updates. Imagine having a 60hz phone for the next 5-7 years XD
I used iphone because i can use real dark mode on whatsapp rather than dark grey on android
Great video
Thank you!
@kamii.ichi
Sucks the iphone 14 display is still way behind at 60hz, but other than that the iphone 14 is a no brainer
I think my S9 had way better speakers than my iPhone 11.
@ondrej.zetek
both are definitely great phones, comes to personal preference, i myself use the apple ecosystem for pretty much everything and there’s no reason for me to switch. looking forward to seeing the 15’s and a dynamic island on the base model 👀
@henryyyy091
I agree to those who said that they would pick the s23, and I would too considering it's resale value which is more cheaper than the iphone 14. But what I like about the IOS is it's long software updates.😊 Nice video Dion!!!
Thanks!!
People talk resale value, but unless you're actually going to sell your phone througha market place, then you won't even notice resale value. Samsung ALWAYS has better deals and trade in offers so resale value is practically worthless to normal users.
You need to adjust equalizer settings on samsung for better sound bass and treble.
@scorpiusorion
Great info as always! For the first time these phones actually offer the other some actual competition, I like it.
Agree!
