dont rush and just get lost in this beautiful masterpiece. incredibly steep learning curve. seems really hard and then it just suddenly all makes sense, just dont give up early on
I think comparing this to the souls games is quite fair. You mention that it's difficult to transition from souls to this game but then go on to describe things you need to do here that most also do in dark souls. This game is different in terms of gameplay and loot but the way you need progress cautiously is essentially the same. Adjusting strategy for the situation is the same in both games, not just this one. I wouldn't say either game has "more depth" than the other. This one just has more loot/stat optimization to keep you busy. Also, I'd probably argue that hit and run tactics work better in this game than the souls series. Maybe it's just how I play but it's worked throughout the entire game.
Honestly, if you're a veteran Souls player, playing Nioh like it's just a less forgiving Souls game is probably a more more effective strategy than forgetting everything you know, ditching all your instincts, and playing it like it's Ninja Gaiden. As long as you get used to stances (if you've played Bloodborne, this will be easier) and Ki pulse (which if you have stamina management skills honed by Soulsborne, isn't super crucial but still very helpful)
As a guy who plays all the souls games for 1000s of hours and going to nioh now it feels good to hear u dint need to rush for the best gear and just take ur time it rlly calmed my nerves hearing that
"You should adjust your setup in Nioh and not just rely on a simple strategy" Proceeds to high-stance Odachi heavy attack into the same skill against every enemy he fights in the entire video with the exception of one very easy human enemy that he renders the confuse status on, then punches to death (all of which gets no mention in the commentary). Hm.
The guy likes to shit on dark souls. Simple strategy? Spammung rolls? It takes patience and timing too. I love both games and probably gameplay-wise nioh as it reminds me more of ninja gaiden. But no need to bash other games.
Just picked up the game a month ago. Pretty overwhelming and the information that's out there seems convoluted. This just reaffirmed my need to just chill out and enjoy the game. Thanks.
Don't want to give instructional advice but the detection talisman onmuoyo magic is very good for information, it tells you where all enemy locations and items are on the compass and is an early accessible skill, it lasts a very long time so you don't have to worry about the few casts
THE LAST TIP!!! omg I was about to give up! I arrived at the first world's shrine and grabbed the DLC gear. Not realizing I was too heavy spent 2 hours fighting, upgrading ki and still nothing happened. I was about to give up on it but the weight was my issue. Quite a complicated game in the beginning for a new comer to even the genre. Those tips are awesome, thanks so much!
Assassinkill _112 huh?? As soon as you start the game you’re naked in the Tower of London. Only the first shrine on the isle of demos gives you an option to get the DLC armor and that’s what I was talking about. Unless you can get the armor some other way... don’t matter either way
im 24 hours in lvl 74 and have only leveled strengh heart and body thus far (and a bit of stamina) would investing a few points into spirit still be worth it? btw im using the Odachi
Really good advice there! 👍Coming from Dark Souls I had to adjust quite a bit. Hit&Run is really painfull here and extends any fight quite a bit.I had to learn that I really should pay attemtion to KI Pulse and stay close for constant damage, which improved my fights quite a lot. I still have to find out though, how to improve KI damage, seeing that this is also quite a factor
I would have to disagree, and say that rushing ahead is one of the best strategies if I refought every enemy that killed me I would've never progressed at all. find that last checkpoint then grind for lvls if you have to.
Thanks for the great video mate- been meaning to get back into Nioh for a while now (after spending WAYYYYY too many hours in NieR: Automata), really appreciate that you're still making content for it! Didn't get very far into the game the first time around (6th boss, maybe?), so I'm looking forward to diving back into it! :D Peace
I suggest rushing. The main missions get too easy. Especially the bosses with how powerful your attacks can be and living weapon. Facing a new boss that's so easy to take down makes it feel less rewarding. Twilight missions should be an option from the start.
we all have to learn the hard way. the game is terrible at guiding your character creation, its a learn by failing process. remember, you only truly fail if you give up and stop playing. otherwise just think of it as training, you will get better
Nah, I'm skilled enough. It's still a nightmare because it's so strict and there is no defense stats. I mean technically there is, but it doesn't actually provide any defense. And yeah I don't know if I'm supposed to just do one low attack hit at a time on these 150+ missions, but it's way too tedious. My brain can only take in so much information. Makes me wonder if I'm just supposed to always be overleveled by 50 or what. Idk I'm not trying to be gaming virtuoso extraordinaire and it seems like what this game is insisting of players.
That's kinda the thing with SoulsBorne style games: everything deals very heavy damage even early on to really drive the message that even low-tier trash mobs like Dwellers and Outlaws can and will kill you if you play recklessly. This is particularly true with the first 2 real bosses of the game: Onrioki and Hino-Enma, who WILL kill you dozens of times until you learn how to stop playing as if you were a one-man army. These styles of games are very sink or swim in that regard. And trust me, if those enemies seem impossible now, they WILL get much harder, to the point where the one-shot attacks you're seeing now are super sluggish and telegraphed by comparison.
Is there a lamp or object that allows you to see in the dark? it's because there are some places that are very dark and I get lost, and I am not even someone who gets lost in video games just because they are dark to see.

Maybe he overexaggerated but you are doing the same for Nioh, there is way more to the combat than what you are describing.
That's exactly the issue. Backstabs.
A lot of the things that you talk about I've realized are actually BS and I shouldn't listen to it's like you don't know what you're talking about
i m sorry but nier automata story is the only thing that game got going for Nioh Was One of the best If Not the best game of 2017
You said this game has more depth than dark souls instant dislike
1: Don't buy it, it's a waste.
2: Ignore 1.
