Best Instructions I found so far on the Internet. The decoration in the background is also very entertaining. Bought some of your training videos, absolutely worth it.
WTF!!!! What a great explanation of how to do. I know I’ve been guilty of doing this movement wrong. Thank you for your great videos, with the explanation of how to do the movements correctly. What a wealth of knowledge.
i appreciate that you tell people how to grip and why you grip the KB in the corner of the handle. I was having trouble with cleans and snatches until i used that cue and i wasn't banging my forearm anymore.
Love the details ❤ I like to corkscrew the bell on the way down, keeping it as close to my body as possible. The full snatch can be hard on the hands, moving the bell from finger tips in the absorb (bottom) to cross palm (full extension) is a skill that requires hours of practice. Without a doubt this channel is a Haynes manual for correct body movement under load. 👍
Exactly, I wanted to make the same comment! I have destroyed my hands when I first started! It feels safer to do a wider arc because you have some control but it kills your hands. You have to basically let the KB fall directly down and grab it when it reaches the bottom! It's scary at the start but better for your hands on the long term!
exactly what i needed. got an decent c&p and no problemos snatching the bell up but on the way down I always mess up, which results in an rather unpleasent pull in the shoulder. Hi Mark, would/could you consider making videos discussing risk-to-reward ratios in kettlebelling? (e.g.: is snatching worth it compared to c&p // how heavy is heavy enough for swings). Oh and a video about choice overload in training would be nice, how do you deal with that?
As always an informative and clear video. I find that I snatch the 8kg with good form (my trainer agrees), and also do double 8kg snatches. My first set of 10kg snatches are fine, but coming to a second set of 10kg snatches I feel week and not really in control of the bell. Is this fatigue ? I’m now 81 and have decided to move back to Bi 8kg bells workouts including a snatch and hope that I’ll give myself more confidence (and power). My trainer is ok with this. What would you suggest? Thx.
I think it's helpful to remember that descending, especially from shoulder level downward. It's more of a swing so that as it swings back up under you, it's actually slightly lifting your body. So that it's not really your hand doing most of the stopping, but actually your own body weight turning the kettlebell around
The bell needs to ‘jump’ over your palm and into your fingers. That’s why you need to make sure you’re not working with a too heavy weight.if it’s too heavy, you won’t truant your grip strength and the handle will run across your palm. It’s a good idea to practice getting the bell to jump doing cleans before you try the snatch.
@@ryusuikarate no because the swing is projecting force forwards, the snatch is projecting force upwards. The backswing is almost identical for all kettlebell ballistics, but how the force is transferred is different. A Snatch is more akin to a clean that ends up overhead due to 'taming the arc'
That tip about the hand placement is probably why my low back hurts right now. I thought that deeper/lower=better for the hip thrust and that is not the case for swings. Oops, taking a week off kettlebell, getting back into it slowly at the end of that week.
amazing video dude. it's really weird that my right arm is stronger than my left arm - but with left arm i have good technique and with right hand i hold the kettlebell with bent wrist. also with left hand the movement is smooth, with the right hand i keep hitting my forearm with the kettlebell...
Mark, at the very bottom of your snatch...going into the back swing portion...do you maintain a hook grip with just your fingers or do you thumb over grip the handle to limit rotation during that part of the movement before you hip snap to send it back up?
What's funny is I could do a kettle bell snatch while my rack position was bad and painful. Silver lining was I found this channel searching how to correct my clean/rack position.
Wow, I have been half-snatching up this whole time. I've been trying to replicate what I do with my barbell with my kettlebell but now I realize kettlebells don't function like barbells.
I found that I have confidence issue with snatch, going up isn’t the problem but coming down I return to rack position then swing from there. Im wondering how much am I losing from this ?
Is it okay for the thumb to go from upward descending to forward swinging behind? I'm wondering if the internal rotation swinging under is mainly to set up the next turn forward and perhaps not a net benefit given the internal rotation?
I’m considering the TGU program (after recovering from rotator cuff surgery), does it feature TGU movements exclusively or does it also include other KB movements like swings, cleans, and presses as well?
The TGU program covers 35 exercises (7 per level with 5 levels) ranging from Clean, to Clean and Press, Start stop Clean, Start Stop Clean and Press, Start Stop Clean and Press and step back and much more. No swing exercises but everything needed to help get you off of the floor while under weight broken down to levels of complexity that increase with time and experience.
As always, excellent instruction and common sense laid in there like a smack in the face 🤦🏼♂️(be over prepared for the snatch at lower weight by using the clean and press at higher weight)…. It’s SOOOO simple .. it’s IN the computer😂😂😂 #zoolander
Finally! A comprehensive tutorial on the downswing.
My favorite channel when it comes to Kettlebells💚Thanks for this.
All the best and greetings from Germany
Including the information about how swings, cleans and snatches are similar and different is very helpful. Excellent video!
Game on! ("Wayne's World")

I love just knowing they are in the other room. I’m now that much closer to starting a exercise program.
This is gold. Thank you for all your teachings 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽❤️❤️❤️

So much great content, thank you !
Love the intro, Mark looking around as he speaks wary of a potential attack on the compound by Toecutter or Lord Hummungus
Love your work!
Great explanation…this will help

great advice !! nice form !!!
Nice explanation, thanks for sharing your wisdom
Superb instruction. Love these videos. Best on UA-cam. Keep em coming, and thank you. .. oh, and is that truck from the film jeepers creepers?

Any chance of you releasing a snatch program?

I find the drop the hardest part, trying to avoid tearing my hands 🤚🏼

Don’t forget to shift the handle of the bell out of your palm/thumb and into your fingers on the drop.

Chances are you need to practice with a lighter weight

Are you building those Mad Max vehicles?
What advantages does a kettlebell snatch have over the dumbbell version?
That tip about the hand placement is probably why my low back hurts right now. I thought that deeper/lower=better for the hip thrust and that is not the case for swings.
Oops, taking a week off kettlebell, getting back into it slowly at the end of that week.

you went full mad max over there
You ain’t seen nothin yet
"Not ready for the snatch".....are we not doing phrasing?
I'm not the only bad person 😂
@DavidNapolitanoNataRaja Mark has a great sense of humor. Hence, the Sterling Archer reference.
😂
Hahahaha
I have spinal stenosis at lumber 4 &5… should I continue working out with kettlebell.. I use a lightweight kettlebell (20 lbs)…
What's funny is I could do a kettle bell snatch while my rack position was bad and painful. Silver lining was I found this channel searching how to correct my clean/rack position.
Choked at the open net!
So you’ll be covering the positive, (ascending), part soon?
I’m sure he’ll get to it, luckily there are several snatch videos in the other playlists to tide you over. Mark has made a video of everything 😂
Wow, I have been half-snatching up this whole time. I've been trying to replicate what I do with my barbell with my kettlebell but now I realize kettlebells don't function like barbells.
And of course not forgetting that it is a crushingly fatiguing discipline as well! Muscle memory is mandatory towards the end........
How do I procure the truck though?
Badland outfitters. It has a nascar race engine in it.
You give a great explanation on these movements.
I believe these are the most fundamental of all exercises.
I found that I have confidence issue with snatch, going up isn’t the problem but coming down I return to rack position then swing from there. Im wondering how much am I losing from this ?
Mostly a decrease in work density (reps take longer, so fewer reps per minute) and grip endurance (you get a second grip “rest” in the rack).
A lot

Where can we view that truck?😂

Ya like deags?
so is no one going to talk about the MAD MAX truck in the background....LMAO
Rule 1: we don’t talk about the harpoon truck
Wayne's World reference.
So no one talks about the harpoon weapon on the truck?
Everyone should have a harpoon truck in their fleet
imagine a deadlift with that engine block LOL
Ok can we talk about wtf is going on with that truck behind him?? 😂
It has a harpoon.
…and who doesn't love a good snatch?
lmfaoooooooo HAHAAHHHA
If you want people to most attention to what you’re doing, don’t do it in front of that truck.
