I was not also a fan of JB's earlier music but I do appreciate his recent songs. It makes you understand his struggles during the peak of his career. This song is really emotional. I especially love his collab with Shawn Mendez.
The trauma of becoming instantly rich and famous, with no one teaching you how to do it. You're still a kid, you know nothing, yet are judged for everything, as though you're supposed to magically be a fully grown, mature, teenaged adult. And not only do the people in charge of your life do anything to help you, they often LIKE that you do these things that get you more publicity, because in a tabloid world where press equals revenues, there is no bad publicity. | You can almost hear him crying in the singing of the chorus, what an incredible punch to the gut it must feel like.... "How did I get here? I could sing, I got found, I got famous all over the planet, life is supposed to be BETTER, isn't it? Why am I so miserable? Why does my heart hurt so much? Why won't the tight, suffocating knots in my stomach go away? Why do I always feel like I'm sealed up in a box, where no one can hear how lonely and unhappy I am?" | As much as he's been joked about for going back to church and finding God - I'm not against it at all, everyone's beliefs are their own - I'm glad he did that. If that's the only place he was able to find peace in his own mind, I'm glad he did it. It seems to have centered him quite a bit, he found his wife, she goes too - which is even better, because she's supporting him, not trying to pull him away from it. Even though we can never know for sure, he seems to be in a better place. | Better that this is his life now, than being a tragedy in a news headline. But what a crushing song.
