Out here in Northern California we’ve had some horrendous wildfires the last several years. They destroy everything in its path, but we still have all of our roadways to go get what we need (if our own homes weren’t destroyed) like water and food and whatever fuels we need to live. I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now, and what you’ll be going through for many months, if not years. I’ve seen a lot of videos of people helping people in your neck of the woods. THAT is what’s going to get you through this. Keep us updated.
My bosses son was here in Vegas the week before Helene (he lives up by you), we sent him back with 2 Readywise 150 buckets and a small generator, he bitched about having to deal with at the airport. I got a thank you text a couple of minutes after he landed at Greensville he had overflown your area, seen the flooding a knew there would be no power. A tip of the cap to Harbor Freight and Delta, it may have cost a small fortune, but once fluids were added he was able to get the generator up and running and provide light and refrigeration for himself and his neighbors, plus serve some really not great food from the bucket.

I remember when Helene rolled along our Coast here in Florida, I have horses and land that I have to check on during Storms, so I was out on the Land with my 1,100 Lumen Light checking my Horses and infrastructure for probably about an Hour. The Rain was so thick that my 1,100 Lumen Light could hardly cut through it to see into my Pasture. I had Trees come down and crush my Livestock Fence. We have been through worse (for us, Milton was much worse) but Helene certainly took it's toll, but I didn't even consider it going up to the Carolinas and unleashing the Hell that it did. My thoughts are with those affected by both the Hurricane, and the utter incompetency and failure of the Federal Government in providing relief.

When he first started the video that was rain coming in from a cold front that had dropped down and stalled over the mountains and piedmont of north carolina. not rain from helene. this rain would linger for 2 days across the mountains and piedmont and Helene didnt arrive in the mountains and Piedmont until friday and by that time ALL the rivers in the mountains were at flood stage and the same for the piedmont. helene then went up thru the foothills and into eastern kentucky along the kentucky west virginia and virginia border and made an abrupt left turn and uturn back down across the virginia north carolina and tennessee mountains where she brought DEVASTING rain and wind. We had Tornadoes Wind and Heavy rain here in the piedmont of north carolina from her. Out here in Northern California we’ve had some horrendous wildfires the last several years.

She set over the mountains dumping nearly 2 feet of rain for 2 days before she finally moved east and exited out into the atlantic
Perfectly articulates what happen.
Hell just two hours north of Asheville (here in SW Va, it had rained for five days 11.14 inches before Helene ever showed up.) TN and NC got that too.
