Game: Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate HD
Platform: PS3/Xbox 360/3DS
Developer: Mercury Steam
Publisher: Konami
STORY:
Initially set 25 years after the events of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Mirror of Fate will reveal the story of Gabriel's ancestors, as they battle their own destiny in each era only to discover their true, shocking fate.
Trevor Belmont, a knight of the Brotherhood of Light, sets out to avenge the death of his mother, at the hands of his own father, who has now returned from years of exile to take up residence in a mysterious castle. What was once Gabriel Belmont is now a powerful vampire called Dracula. Dracula has declared war upon the Brotherhood and thus the scene is set for a cataclysmic showdown between father and son!
ACT 3 - TREVOR BELMONT:
Years before the events of Simon's journey, in his house, Simon's father, Trevor looks desperate while his wife, Sypha, tries to help him. His son, Simon, plays with the Combat Cross, but his mother asks him to stop. Trevor then stand up and decide to go confront his father, who became Dracula. After hugging his wife and telling her to leave to the mountains if he was not to come back, Trevor gives Simon a necklace that is made of a piece of a magical mirror. He then arrives to Dracula's castle to kill Dracula.
He encounters the Lost Soul within the castle. The Lost Soul, claiming to know all, attempts to warn Trevor that he will not succeed in his mission, but wishing to hear no more from the Lost Soul, he attacks it, breaking a portion of its face with his combat cross and rendering it unable to speak, explaining its silence in Simon and Alucard's journeys.
In the castle's Belfry, Trevor is forced to flee from a tumbling, massive bell after it is cut from its restraints by hunchbacks. He manages to escape it, but falls into the pit created by the bell's descent. While Trevor is unconscious, the Lost Soul gives him a mysterious cube, which turns out to be the key to unlocking the door to an old temple inhabited by witches.
In the temple, the witches use their magic to free the Daemon Lord, who had been imprisoned years earlier by Gabriel. Trevor fights the Daemon Lord, and manages to defeat him, slicing its hands off and cutting it in half. Thinking he is victorious, Trevor walks away, while an amused Toy Maker looks onwards, and soon after resurrects the Daemon Lord.
Trevor finally encounters Dracula, and uses the balance between Light Magic and Dark Magic to gain the upper hand. Despite this, Dracula still manages to defeat him, stabbing him in the chest with his own combat cross. The dying Trevor claims that he pities Dracula, who accepted his fate while Trevor fought against it, and informs him that he is Dracula's son. Startled, and with Trevor's claim confirmed by the mirror, a dismayed Dracula attempts to revive his son by turning him into a vampire, but with the effort seemingly failed, Dracula stands above his son's grave, marked Alucard.
Lords of Shadow did a great job telling a story that you could actually care about. Lords of Shadow and mirror of fate really made you feel for Gabriel.
LoS 1 wasn't that great at making me feel for Gabriel, Now LoS 2 and MoF, even though i don't enjoy as much as the classic ones, really work at telling his story.
But alas, my dream of a Castlevania telling the sotry of Julius Belmont and how he defeated Dracula in 1999, and how he received back the vampire Killer from the Morris.
Dude I had wished for that game for a long time. unfortunate it will never happen
@fallenangel2100 konami just gave up on a historic franchise. Really a shame
@@bs2455 Not just that, their biggest producer Koji Igarashi/IGA stepped down from Konami years ago.
I wish become a human with Gabriel Belmont
“My boy, I’m killing my boy”
Sorry different Castlevania, but still
This story is better.
@@amiraimathias5062 nahhhh it's alright but it just isn't on the same level as the Netflix series
@@neinja66469 and the Netflix series can be considered Canon because it's based on castlevania 3
Oh yeah probably should have my boy, I have killed my own boy
@@neinja66469 have you seen the new season?? Pretty legiiit
I feel sorry for Dracula he was used and discarded by the brotherhood then they use his son against him then finds out that's his son and the bad part is Dracula was being controlled by death it wasn't his fault that he killed his wife
so your trying to sayis that he was "Played like a damn Fiddle"
It's like Darth Vader, tho.
Your imagination knows no limit
He was god's chosen... and his was the path less travelled.. it was a path of sacrifice. He was betrayed by GOD.
@@mat_max Difference is Vader got to where he is because of his own choices rather than of someone else's manipulation.
Personally I like this adaptation of castlevanias story the best, primarily the parts being that dracula was a belmont and that satan is actually a character
The writing is far better than the Netflix version IMO and its also its own timeline. I only wish they did continue this as I would've like to see their spin on some of the characters from the original timeline like Christopher, Hector and even Nathan Graves.
Yes , the details and passion put on this lore was amazing
Honestly this Dracula Gabriel Belmont, you really do feel for him. He got duped at every end, and in the end threw away his humanity to safe humanity itself. After that, the humans spent decades trying to hunt him down, but they didn't realize not only was he immortal, but also if Dracula "died" Satan would just wreck more shit than him.
Also, if Trevor just said "I am your son" and maybe they reconciled putting aside the quest of vengeance and the cycle of death then maybe Dracula wouldn't have been such a mass murder. Who knows, maybe Trevor could have brought the humanity of Gabriel Belmont back, you can really feel the sorrow in his voice when he desperately tries to save Trevor before it gets too late
It crushes my heart the way he said "my son" it shows that theres still good in him
Always has been
It was this final betrayal of the order that made Dracula declare war on the world.
when Gabriel came back, he just focused on the Brotherhood as they fucked him over and were hunting him csause they feared him. He didn't have the regular people tartgeted tl he ended up killing his only child that everyone hid from him.
Great voice acting, you can really hear the abject horror in Draculas voice when he realises who he killed, and the tearful desperation when he's begging him to live.
Simon O'Reilly the game’s director alleges Robert Carlyle actually cried delivering those final lines
So if Trevor had just said who his mother was, and possibly who he was, at the beginning then all this could've been avoided?
That what I call a Martha Dimension
Yes but if he did that then there wouldnt be a final boss battle which would make it anti climactic
No that’s called being a victim of circumstance. Trevor only realized after he was impaled that Dracula, his mother’s killer, was his father, and Gabriel didn’t know that Marie had a child in the first place because the Brotherhood kept it a secret from him, seeing that he would become Dracula.
So in short, Fate is still the true enemy. “This knight of your brotherhood opposes and despises me, so his punishment is an eternal life of misery”.
The Lost Soul of the Mirror knew how it would play out. There was never a way to avoid fate while Simon held onto the piece of the mirror.
@@JacOfArts The Brotherhood actually told Trevor at the start of his story, it's pretty much why he was so determined to kill him.
Man that change of faciap expression by gabriel when trevor begins to understand his fathers feelings and speak them out. Gabriel goes from an angry grinning face to shock and surprise that someone could underatand the hurt and rage he carried in his heart all those years. So sad
Robb Stark in Game of Thrones: "Mother..." *dies*
Robb Stark in Mirror of Fate: "Father..." *dies*
yup...lots of GOT refs in this game if you look around.
Also the connection with wolves and Alucard's character and his GOT character xD
And he dies in both.
"Fate is cruel....but in the end..I pity you......father.."
I in all honesty can’t help to picture this moment with Malekith (Warhammer), finding out he had a child with his long lost wife, Allisara.
I felt Gabriel's pain, so sad what happened. Wish he would have revealed himself, so Gabriel could tell him the truth of what actually happened.
Yes a lot of lies resulted in a fractured family.
The brotherhood of light is full of it. Seeing how much suffering they put Gabriel through made me sympathize with him.
The end of Los 1 was a major twist
Damn. Kratos and Dracula would bond over this shared experience.
I love the story of the lords of shadow games. But iv always wanted a remake of the original trilogy from the ground up with of course keeping the core original story and identity the same. maybe they could even do it in chronological order this time which means to have part 3 Dracula’s curse be the first game, then the second game would be the original with Simon Belmont, and then the third and final game would be Simon’s quest. Man as a Castlevania fan that would just complete me
If you notice, when he summons his Void Sword for the first time, and just before he walks towards the mirror, the camera makes sure to have one of the angel statues behind Gabriel. Making it look like those are Gabriel’s wings
It alludes to the fact the void is light/holy magic
@@GnosisZX that may allude Gabriel is still the chosen one despite being a vampire/demon god
This would’ve pissed any parent off.
This is undoubtedly a part that breaks my soul Trevor and Gabriel were two victims of fate manipulation and lies of others a sad story the father who ends up killing the son without knowing that it was discovering the betrayal of his wife and without To know him condemned to all his descendants to persecute it for always and to turn to his son in the same thing that the certainly a tragic history
I agree. I wonder what happens to Simon after MOF? Did he know that Alucard/Trevor was his Dad? What was his life like afterwards?
@@jasontodd8071 no he didn't because in LoS 2 victor say that gaabriel is the last belmont when dying so trevor never knew who alucard was after defeating gabriel if he knew victor wont say to gabriel that he is the last since there are 2 immortal belmonts
It’s so tragic and ironic you trick them only for them to become the strongest beings
gotta love Robert Carlyle
ruthgalan91 he said he wanted to play Dracula in a way he got his wish and I have to say he delivered.
ruthgalan91 watching World is not Enough just to hear his magnificent voice
Yes! A brilliant Scotsman as Dracula!
I just completed this game a few days ago. I have to say the fighting strategy in this video is totally wrong. The correct way is to turn into the same color as Dracula. When he holds a blue sword, you switch to blue color light magic. When he turns red, you switch to red color shadow magic. This way Dracula cannot hurt you much and the fight is easy.
“Game finished at 69%”
Was that intentional?
Well, I'm always thought that is true evil of Lords of Shadow is a god and fuckheads from Brotherhood of Light. Thats why I really like the begining of Lords of Shadow II - I like slashing this god's bitches and the cutscene with "Because I'm his chosen one!!!".
I mean... he's your spitting image, anyone could tell lol. Shit if y'all saw me and my father together
I just can’t see a logical reason for Trevor not telling Dracula who his mother is and who he is. Did he think he wouldn’t believe him if he hadn’t beaten him or was on the verge of death himself?
When Alucard says father:
Gabriel: 👁 - 👁
I remember cryin' the first time I saw this cutscene.. and look at me now cryin' again lol
I got feels when I spoiled it in youtube, but when I saw it again in my own 3DS, I cried like I never did with a fictional character
Gabriel's story is just sooo sad, and this was like "wtf he knew his son only after killin' him" and me, as a dad, got really touched by them feels.
Part of why is so sad it's because, at the reveal of Alucard, I expected Gabriel making Trevor a vampire out of spite after defeating him. But we got that tearjerker instead
Curse them for allowing this to happen.
curse is not enough,Master...
Elka Vasileva indeed complete destruction of their lives.
Count Dracula still not enough.mean, that pain is too much strong...
Elka Vasileva what would you do my dear?
Count Dracula well, when you lost someone you loved much, the vengeance is sweet, but it didn't stop the sorrow.maybe I'll never stop to kill and to cry in the same time
The whole time I hear Dracula talk, I keep expecting him to giggle and say "Dearie!", because his voice actor is the same as Rumplestiltskin in Once Upon a Time, and it is just perfect
hahahahahaha,i expected the same thing:}:}:}but you must to admit that Robert Carlyle(Rumplestiltskin) is badass as Dracula.
_To be honest he sounded a ton more like Shrek to me._
“Why of course,Dearies!”
I’ll never understand why this series gets so much hate. I thought they made for amazing 3D Castlevania, and a cool twist to the story. I really wish we could have gotten more games in this series.
Just like DMC Devil May Cry, fan think original are the best and thing lack from that is Trash.
Also Konami Fire Kojima and rush LoS 2
Kojima help on making LoS that why it superior the LoS 2
@@cyrusiithegreat2824 i heard it was stuff over in MercurySteam that changed things for LoS2, something about Enric changing a lot of things cause he wanted to be the next David Cage, the guy responsible for Detroit Beomce Human and other games.
I think it was the last game that went Down hill

"And who are you the proud lord said..."
Heyyy at least he got hotter as allucard.
Specially in Lords of Shadow 2. Does aging works in reverse with vampires?
According to what I've heard Alucard rocked the Tall Suave Vampire look years before the Twilight Saga made Vampires a joke
Women😁
Alucard looked awesome in LOS2 compared to his appearance in MOF!
Finally they did something about the lip syncing in the new game for the ps3! x3 makes the scenes all the more enjoyable..but they were still epic as hell to watch even with the odd lip syncing in the past 3DS game. Thanks for showing this.
"I have no interest in knowing my victims."
you had it coming bruh!
well everytime he knows his victims it end up hurting him so...
Imagine those graphics in syphony of the night remaster, will be so amazing!
Trevor said it best fate is cruel even after all that Gabriel suffered and sacrificed he inadvertently follow suit with his fate and accepted it under the ilusión of free will. That regardless it doesn't belittle the pain, hatred, and suffering he felt over every ordeal. He lost family, friends and happiness all that drove him was darkness deep within his heart
Girls: You didn't cried in Titanic!? Do you even have emotions!?
Boys: 11:20
WHAT?!
Dude you could at least sit down and talked it out!
Not gonna lie, I cried at this scene, tragic... but such is the tale of the real life Dracula as well which lead to the creation of the fictional vampire lord and the Castlevania series.
While I can accept that not all fans are open to the LoS trilogy, I can't accept that if a fan says that he/she likes the Trilogy, they are written off as "not a true fan", not every fan needs to worship SOTN... Speaking of which, While I like SOTN, my first Metroidvania was Dawn of Sorrow which IMO is a better game
I prefer Rondo of Blood to SOTN but like you said, each their own. That being said... LOS 1 was great but the sequel was a huge drop in quality and felt wqy too rushed. This game was also good and I really enjoyed this fight. The classic games never really portrayed a true fight with a Belmont against Dracula the way you would imagine beyond a few opening lines. So this was nice to see and I appreciate the trilogy for putting it's own spin on the games lore although I do enjoy the old storyline more before 1999
I feel bad for Dracula and Alucard in lords of shadow.
this series was insanely amazing
I love this game though there a strange things I kind of find weird and I would like to ask. in Simon's chapter where he gets the combat cross, I noticed Trevor's clothing there and I remember Alucard was wearing something else when he was awakened from his sleep. Did Dracula... stripped down Trevor's clothing and gave him new ones? did Dracula also cleaned the blood off of Trevor's clothing? I don't mind if maybe Alucard is wearing something like funeral clothing but apparently in Alucard's design, his chest is shown, why? is there a fashion standard for vampires? is a vampire required to show his/her chest? those were the thoughts I had during my third playthrough of this game
Good to know im not the only one pondering this.
I don't know but as far as him changing Trevor's clothes it might be his own blood, seeing as he made his outfit out of blood at the intro of LOS 2 before the lab section.
JayTekken1 okay, I can sort of accept that yet I still have to ask if it has to be a requirement to have a bare chest to be seen when becoming a vampire?
Dunno about that...but im not complaining xD
The bare chest thing I have no idea lol. Maybe when they bite people they like the blood on their chest rather than their clothing who knows.
I love how all of this could have been avoided if Trevor started his opening monologue with a very simple "My name is Trevor Belmont."
Edit: Actually, if he had hinted that he was a Belmont at *any point in this fight* , Dracula would've probably stopped fighting him 😒
This final fight will not happen if Trevor did so. And this is not what he wants.
Y didn't they put this on the switch? I liked this game.
the feels it hurts
Yeah, I didn't expected to cry that much when I saw that
I was sad when this happened. I started crying towards the end.
trevor belmont's story is sad. Well at least the ending.
Dracula remains the king of the vampires even if he's just a Legend. The one and only Original Vampire.
but.. what about blacula?!
Lol
MaximThePlayer hes immortal he cant die
What about chacula
in the original castlevania timeline dracula is not the first vampire
Trevor/Alucard and Gabriel/Dracula were used by the Brotherhood/Lords of Shadow/Mirror of Fate.
he was deceived by the order, he thought that Gabriel had killed his mother and because he was a vampire he believed that there was only evil, with no humanity in his own father, making him being his son something irrelevant for a vampire.
I loved clasdic castlevania storyline. This was pretty good too though, a shame they only made the two vames and mirror of fate. The second game felt rushed af because of it and it killed the overall quality but this game was good and so wqs the first los.
I’m confused, what did the mirror show Dracula?
Marie (Gabriel/Dracula’s wife) was pregnant and Trevor is son. She keep that as secret from him due to the brotherhood of light showed Dracula’s fate to her.
@@emilemagnan5917 Thank you for telling me.
@@sjanimations09 No problem, I saw you're confused and it was the least I can do.
Father knows best, lol
What's the name of the ost when Trevor and Dracula are talking before the battle?
I'm pretty sure the first 2 hits of Dracula's 4-hit Void Sword attack, as well as the first 2 hits of his 3-hit Chaos Claws attack, can be synchronise blocked.
They can be, but it's so much easier to dodge.
John Gebert
sure but if you block them you leave him open for a counter attack and you avoid the third unblockable attaca that is pretty difficult to dodge.
does anyone else find the chomp sound when gabriel bites himself to feed trevor his blood hilarious?
It is really annoying after having fought that boss battle you die.
My only wish is that this could have been done in the original art style of the game
I like this story. I prefer Alucard that become Vampire from a man then instead of a Dhampir half human half vampire. In SOTN Alucard was the son of Dracula and Lisa for this reason a Damphir but during the game ( Succubus's speech) he was considered a 100% true Vampire and not a simply Damphir. In LOS series It would be enough to call him Adrian Belmont instead Trevor to give continuity with the original series.
but Gabriel wasn't a Belmont in the original
Isso foi deveras triste. :( Muito obrigado pelo vídeo! Thank of the Brazil. ^^
sad story
Dear friend, I want to ask you something. Dracula cry can Where I find the name of the music played? damn Google translate!
Unfortunately i really don't know what the name of the music is. Maybe viewers can help this guy the name of the music where Dracula is crying??
Thank you for the help. but already after a long search , I found myself already .
In the search to find some music, you found yourself. that's deep
lol u sir have humor ! ... or lady,.. not sure
do people not understand that this came out before LOS2 and is an official sequel to LOS1 it's not supposed to have anything from LOS2 in it... therefore the story does make sense and therefore it is not complete b.s , because if you took the time to actually pay attention the details such as release dates, story, and what the game is so depreatly trying to tell people you'd have a much better time understanding it, it's the same thing with metal gear. How the fuck do people not know that solid snake and big boss are 2 separate people and that snake is only 45 in mgs4 not 85 like some people assume.. just argh it irritates me when people talk big or talk shit about a game, movie, or franchise they know absoulutly Jack shit about.
Anyway sorry for rant... I need to stop looking at UA-cam comments because all they do is cause issues for me.
This is why I never go near the castlevania fanbase
I love the fact when playing this, it reminds of the part in SOTN when Ritcher meets Alucard and says" Alucard? The same Alucard who joined forces with my ancestor Trevor Belmont?", not knowing that it is Trevor
yeah.... they are different Alucards, the one with Richter is an Alucard born of Dracula and LIsa, a Dhampir (human/vampire) while this Alucard is a vampire, a human tainted with a vampire blood. The Alucards are from two different dimensions.
+Solfei Dude, but what if both Alucards teamed up
Lords of shadow is another universe... it is a reboot...
Things normal people notice:
Great game/Great Plot line/Dracula is awesome/Alucard is awesome/wow that didn't come as a shock....
Things I notice:
10:08 - Ok...let's spend an extraordinary amount of time falling because...realistic.
11:20 - Because we couldn't go one minute without blood, let's have him cough it up....
12:35 - Hey I'm Trevor in the background of this cut scene...I'm going to shift for no apparent reason...
13:19 - So apparently this is a magical vampire casket that allows Alucard to come out with an entirely different outfit...because vampire fashion.
18:27 - He finished at "69"%
You forgot that he comes out of the coffin with his hairy completely white too! It's not cos of starvation either like it was with Gabriel either (just assuming with Trevor). So Vampire Coffin + dead guy = free dye job? Cool! So long as you don't mind white hair haha :D
Things that the castlevania series teaches us:
1. White Hair = Epic Vampire
Bare Noize so does anime aswell
+Lady Leomon Gabriel also had the white hair because of being weakened by getting stabbed by alucards sword
Still better than Judgement.
Gabriel's father is Trevor Belmont
Wtf, trevor father ia Gabriel
I got back to this game years later in the hype of the new Bloodstained. The demo reminded me of this game.
I fill bad for gabriel
I love Robert I do, but why does it sound like he has a stuffed nose?
Why does this look like it was made by telltale.
Wonderful quality.
I loved this timeline.
I'll forever fight you and the fanbase who tell that he is not the canon Dracula, and you'll only defeat me once i see a Link with Castlevania director literally saying - No, he isn't... - GABRIEL makes so much sense for him to be Dracula for Castlevania lore wise, he has the origin history, the tragic past, hell even his SOTN self has the same looks though....
Lamment of innocence.
Here.

Alucard is Trevor Belmont?.
Byron Lee Lord of shadows saga is a different universe
Wow that hit hard
I think it's lame that the name "Alucard" was stamped on the coffin like that. It feels weird to see him call himself that when his father gave him that name (especially during the memory cut-scene in Lords of Shadow 2). Unless it was to let the player know Trevor and Alucard would be the same person, the developers would be better off just showing the coffin without the name on it.
Yeah I felt that part was weird too, Trevor made the decision himself to call himself Alucard, not his father.
The writing on the coffin is a reference to Son of Dracula, a movie of the 1940's
Look it up
@@LuxConcordiae not quite, see Dracula never actually knew his name until years later after mirror of Fate so he didn't actually know what to call Trevor at the time aside from "his son", so when he put him into the coffin he decided to carve the name Alucard onto it just so he can give his nameless son well "A Name".
And as for the name Alucard he figured it would be a good fit for Trevor (Alucard), as he was the opposite of him in life so too shall he be in death.

Glory Stitt who lost!?!?!?!?!
I've always wondered if Trevor or Simon would've had actual odds of permanently killing Dracul if they had gone to Gandolfi's shrine places from the first game to upgrade their Combat Crosses. Gabriel's original Vampire Killer had that stake attachment to specifically kill vampires, so maybe Trevor could've gotten the same upgrade before storming right into his dad's castle lmao.
alucard = dracula read backward

what's with the telltale animation
lol

I love the origin of Gabriel as Dracula, but I also love the overall lord of the classic timeline. I kind of made a personal composite timeline where Dracula is Gabriel Belmont, but his first son with Marie is Leon Belmont, and his second son with Lisa is Alucard.
I don't feel so good when I watch the hero die, it just doesn't feel right to me.
He comes back as a Vampire
