I like the little dot charging indicator. I put my case on a wireless charge beside my bed every few nights and the old indicator is so bright that I can tell when it's on in a dark room when i roll over in my sleep
Good review. I'm a bit surprised that the mic audio has a little distortion in it. I heard this same thing on another YT review. For a premium earbud, the mic should sound every bit as good as the AirPod Pro, for example. Everything else about them seems really good. Thanks again!

The case for the XM5’s is nearly identical to the case of the Linkbuds which is great since that case already slides into my pocket perfectly unlike the XM4’s

Great review! Just fyi - the Airpods pro 2 are on sale for $199 right now. I have them and they are great - but I went ahead and pre-ordered the Sony's because of the multi-point connection between any 2 devices. Airpods are great for connection between Apple devices but I use iphone, ipad and pcs so the Sony's will come in handy at work.
I noticed that when I use d airpodspro and watch series, or soccer match from Ipad I can hear 360 surround sound. It's never happened with Jabra,or bose. QCII.What do you think about this SONY?.
Great review! ANC seems to be the major selling point of these buds, and thats important. However, is it possible to be more definitive regarding the sound quality, i.e., how do they stack up (sound quality) against the Status Audio 3ANC, the Beoplay EX, Denon Perl, etc., ? Again, great review.
Glad you liked the review! I haven't used any of those other headphones. For my personal preference, these are right there with the Bose QC II. I like the bass on the Bose better than these, but the Sony's have an overall cleaner sound. Check out @ELJefeReviews because he is the wireless earbud guru and has tested everything so when he drops his review, I'm sure he'll do some solid comparisons.
Guarantee they don't sound as good as the Beoplay EX.. they may do other things better but sound is not one of them.

you have to actually record a phone at a remote location to be able to gauge the call quality test. and you have to test the sound cycling at high speed next to cars.
I'm hoping these M5's work better than the LinkBuds S. I've always had issues with reliability and Sony's app is an exercise in frustration.
If you're looking for wind noise reduction be aware that Sony dropped the feature. If you're cycling you'll find the wind noise to be louder than the music.
I'm quite shocked how bad the sound is via the microphones on the earbuds. It's crackling like crazy on my S23 Ultra. When your talking via your own mic, the sound is fine.
Yeah the voice doesn’t sound so good but at least the wind and any noise from the environment seemed to be filtered out pretty well.
Just remember they just came out ones they start updating 😊

No it's not. The point is it blocks all the wind and noise around him which is a much better experience for the person on the other end of the call as opposed to having the background noise and wind overpowering your voice so they can't even hear what you're saying. The call audio on this sounds fantastic compared to the alternative.

I love the honest review you give! I walk away with all the info I need to make a decision for a purchase. Two questions please. Before you turn the ANC are the 5s good a blocking out passive or natural noise just like a ear plug would even with the music off? Also when the music is playing can you turn it down low so you just hear it or volume somewhat loud at the lowest setting? Thank for your time.

I tried using the Sony and Samsung earbuds. They wouldn't stay in my ear and they hurt wearing in my ears. Also, the charging time is about 6 hours. I prefer wearing the Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Industry Leading Noise Canceling Headphones. They last for about 30 hours before needing charging. However, they're expensive costing $400. I recently caught them on sale at Best Buy November 3, 2023 for early Black Friday sale for $329 saving me $70.
Currently have the Bang and Olufsen Beoplay ex's which are great. Curious to see how these get rated against the new Sony's 🤔

It is a bit distorted since your voice is deep and you’re raising it and the bone conduction is adding to the distortion. You talk a bit softer like indoors and you’ll be fine.

For anyone who doesn't know this, sonys 1.6.2 and 2.0.0 software update made the xm4 buds heat up to an abnormal degree causing permanent battery damage for some users
In my case it's only the right earbuds. Doesn't fully charge anymore, 85% at the very best. When charged separately however it can reach 100%. In that case it does indeed heat up. The left bud doesn't have this issue. And only the right bud's battery drains insanely fast. After 1 hour it's left with 60% or less while the left still has like 93%. And this is in standby with ANC and DSEE turned off.
this happened to me, first it was my left earbud then both. at the end neither of them could hold a charge for longer than 10 minutes.. got my money back since it was still within 2 years and bought the XM5's :D
@@domi4307I believe people have said they have battery issue on those after 6 months or so.
For the price i dont think ill give up my 1more evo buds to get these. Maybe if they ever go on sale ill give them a shot

it’s a tad muffled when talking, but i don’t hear anything in the background. they look sleek. i’ll just stick with my AirPods Pro and Pixel Buds Pro. those are great alternatives though.

Good video, man. I'm just surprised that I don't see a lot of reviewers mentioning Sony's Anti-EF(ear fatigue) feature on these though, where the battery drains quicker on one or the other to help people from wearing them too much. Honestly, I don't think I could live without this now that I've tried it on my XM4's and Linkbuds!
How do you think they compare to the Linkbuds S? Sound, size, ANC, ambient mode, case, etc.

Thanks for the review. I'll hang onto my Soundcore 4 NC's for now. What music are you listening to to say they are as good as you claim? BTW, the noise cancel is mad noisy in your review. Sounds like static. Moreover, your voice don't sound great to me. Not at all worth what they are charging to me.
I bought these and already returned them. I tried all the eartips I own (over 15) and I couldn’t get a good seal. Never had this problem with the XM4s

Man, the mic tests sound horrible imo Very distorted. I have these and I enjoy them for the most part but I really dislike how touch sensitive they are, I get ear fatigue a bit with these, and the Sony headphones app is just awful. I find their version of transparency mode not as good as the AirPods but AirPods are pretty hard to beat. I'm not sure these are worth $300 price tag but if you're able to get a good deal on them, they're great for the sound & ANC.

Thanks for the review ! The ear tips are same material than the xm4 ? (mine were damaged quickly, had to buy alternative silicon ears tip) And did you found the noise cancelling well better than on the xm4 ? And with the Bose QC 2 that you'vce tested, who "win" the noise concelling ?

I got the M4 and it nothing be hell! They so quiet, no matter how much you will play with the settings and the EQ.

Okay, i watch another video where they get compared to the galaxy buds 2 pro, the airpods pro 2 and the pixel buds pro ... and i have to say the pixel buds pro and the airpods pro 2 had a night and day difference in mics to this, the galaxy buds 2 pro are on the same level as this.

i own the XM3 Buds and XM4 Buds and Headphones, and i have to say i really dislike the XM5's design both buds and headphones specially
Call quality still not good! Very muddy sound. LinkBuds S has much better call quality in blocking out sound when talking
