A trick I learned in Formula A was if you're at the front, push super hard on your out lap to gap the field and force an extra warm up lap. I would enter the turn as you do, but use a little oversteer on the exit to help heat the rears.
This is gold content man, I really appreciate your making these videos! Last month I did my first championship race in "cold" weather (for our standards in Brazil, just to be clear lol). I really struggled in qualifying as the session was just about 5 minutes long. After that I knew I had to change my approach to become more aggressive coming out of the pits instead of just going easy and build that temp and confidence slowly. After watching this I feel even more confident in getting good at this.
Drove at a race that snowed in the middle, first 6 laps might as well have been rain! I just pushed the first lap so we had an extra warm up lap. Tyre pressures were astronomical. Around 16.5-18 mostly.
Hey Ryan, first of all thank you for your videos, they've been monstrous in improving my race craft!!! I have an off topic question. How do you set up your GoPro? When I use mine, I tend to get videos that use WAY TOO much data and can't be easily used. Any suggestions?
Hi Ryan. Thanks for the help. I just have one question. I have learned that if you drive with full RPM the first lap or two, then there are a greater risk of the engine piston to break. So then I can't go agressive enough on the tires. What should I do? I drive Rotax Senior
You are fine going full RPM on the warm up laps. Especially on a Rotax. Maybe take a few corners to get there but if the engine is warm go for it. And its more about corner speed. Even if are going slow into the corner, don't brake super hard and that will generate speed and you'll slide.
@@NorbergNation Hi again Ryan. Thank you so much for the answer. I have written an e-mail to you on the 21. June. It's from a Nikolaj Dyrved. I would really appreciate it if you took the time to read it. Thank you in advance. Best Racing Regards Nikolaj :)
So your first tip is braking, and you say to warm up the tires you should brake 95% to the apex when they are cold. I drive a 4 stroke engine and I do that normally no matter what but it works fine... why?
It’s a bit different for the lower horse power karts. But the same process applies. Attach the corner hard out of the pits and be patient on the throttle

Not a bad idea. I tried that at one of my races and got a 10 second penalty hahah
Drinking game - Take a shot everytime Ryan says "corner"! Thanks for the video.
Oh my gosh! You'd be pretty messed up

Cold tires is always difficult, especially if you want to follow someone from the beginning of the session like in qualifying.
Exactly! Thats why you need to get them up to temperature quickly
Can you do one of these for driving it the wet
I’m just starting my LO2 six career and my first race will be hopefully this weekend any advice is more than appreciate it
Just dont get to down on yourself. Try and work on one thing at a time
The Gang is together..😎🇩🇰🇩🇰😎..
Need help on rental karting (5hp) tips. I seem to lose huge amount of time in slow corners. What line should I use.
Stop leaning into your turns. You are fighting the chassis
Probably over slowing for the corner. I’ll do a video soon
try not to slide the rears (maybe)
How many chassis do you usually go through in one season at the pro level? (For X30)
3 or 4 probably
Here right now

But I only go 40mph on a hot day only doing 8 laps 3 times a race day. Plus 2 practices and 1 quali.

Formula 1 when?
I hope soon!
If you wanna get good on cold tires move to North Carolina
It does help hahah
