  • Many of you guys have been requesting a do a video on race starts. I did not know how to break that down until now. I figured that the best way to do that is to talk about the different strategies I use when I start in the back of the pack, mid field, and at the front. In this video, you will learn key tips that I've used over the years to almost always have a good clean start! LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE

    Post the race Ryan. Even though you're leading, it's great to watch your lines and technique. Thanks for the tips.

    Would have been worth mentioning that 'peripheral vision' allows quicker reaction times, which you do hint at. Your peripheral vision lacks detail and color, but does provide a quicker response than by looking directly at the 'object of interest', drag racers and all other professional race car drivers all use this skill.

    I once picked up 8 positions in the first lap just from setting my self up for the lap because of a very good start, I started 12 and by the end / start of lap 2 I was in 4th

    Another great video Ryan! Starts have always been my weakness and these tips were super useful. Could you give a bit of insight on how you warm up the kart and getting the setup so that the kart is on it from the first corner?

    Yes, please post your race from Utah! Also, I like the fundamentals that you shared with the different starting positions (back, mid-pack and front) and to really be ready for contact, when and where that would be. One thing that I would like to hear from you is when you have contact and which drops you a lot of positions or out of the race, how that affects you mentally? I often time will have to remind the young drivers that they can't be upset with events that happen outside of their control. Try and learn from them and put yourself in a better place to avoid that in the future. This was a really good video and we can't wait to see more.

      It basically comes down to trying to have a short memory. You don't want to focus on it. Just accept that it happened and start digging.

      @@NorbergNation Love it! Some of us (myself included) are emotional drivers and I'm trying to kick that habit. Thank you for your input!

    • @NorbergNation
      @NorbergNation  3 роки тому +1

      @@racingforbeginners154 Its one of the harder habits to kick. Oliver askew was one driver I always thought never let his emotion get to him during a race. He was where I learned it from. Get what you can out of the race. Turn off that switch that's telling you to panic.

    Just curious, your videos are really really well done, what app do you use for the video in video clips, being able to talk through and even pause vids while talking? It's one of my favorite features and something that sets you apart (racing Spec Miata here and would like to do our own version of it)
