Everytime I hear something about the BBC it pleases me knowing that I've cancelled my licence tax. I used to think they were a wonderful organisation but like many things in the UK today they've become vile and disgraceful. My only regret is I should have cancelled my licence much earlier. STOP Paying them!

If they're so desperate to find a way to prevent them becoming public they most certainly have a lot of hide.

Either they're a govt dept or a private business. A dept has no privacy. A business has no immunity.
It seems to me that the BBC is somewhere between being a government agency on one hand, and a private corporation on the other, with all the advantages of each and none of the disadvantages of either.

How can information about her be confidential if she's dead? It's a living relative that wants those documents disclosed due to suspicions that dodgy dealings might be in there.
Sounds like they're trying too hard to hide something as others are pointing out.
Trouble is, the BBC can legally withhold any e-mails it says would break lawyer/client (i.e. the BBC) confidentiality and they can make this claim whether it is true or not. For anyone to disprove the claim it would require that they risk breaking this very same confidentiality and nobody, apart from perhaps a brave and/or foolhardy "whistle blower" from a very small group of people, is going to do that.
All the information related to this particular scandal will, in all likelihood, not emerge for a very long time, if at all. In the meantime, however, we can all conclude that, through its evasiveness, the BBC does have much to hide and many will consider them to be as guilty of bad behaviour as a puppy sat next to a pile of poo.
Maybe the ANONYMOUS GROUP could do a better job of acquiring the info
And of course these emails will not have been altered. Would not put it past them.

Oooops ! They have been (accidentally) deleted.
I think there should be an adjustment to the law... When DEMANDED by a Court, GDPR becomes null and void and ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE RELEASED! However, in such cases - These documents will NOT be available to the public, and only the court!
Again, it would mean we never know what's actually in them, but it also means that the BBC cannot hide...
ChillyJ how did you get the accounts from the bbc to inform us that £100000 of legal fees came from licence fees and not from the European Broadcasting Union ???

Diana was incredibly media savvy. She wasn't some naïve young girl, she was an aristocrat who married to the royal family, a royal family who's staff would have also trained her on how to work the media given she was married to the heir to the throne. I do wonder if the reason the emails are so guarded is not because it is going to say something bad about the BBC but because they'll show that Diana wasn't the innocent party after all.
