Since around 2000 :) And don't miss it one bit, but then again I am a techie and PC's are my hobby which includes gaming etc so no time to watch Gov narrative/brain draining BS BBC - also don't like football. But I do own a 65" Samsung UHD TV which is for gaming and movies only and it is blocked from accessing the internet and it has no live access using a satellite or Antenna for live broadcasts so UK Gov and BBC sales people can go and shove their TV (BBC) license where the sun don't shine. Sadly when the numbers finally get high enough for not paying for said BBC license the UK Gov will move the goal posts to something like you breath UK air so you need to have a UK TV license which will be taken directly from you bank account just because you live in the UK and that we as the UK Gov need to brainwash the stupid majority with our narrative of the day or alternatively they will force councils to collect BBC License tax for them and this will finally be the Golden egg that the BBC wants because then it can increase the TAX to whatever it wants no matter if no one actually watches the BBC ever again. This is why I think the BBC needs to be subscription based using encrypted transmissions then at least people who actually want to watch the BBC which have to pay for a decryption card to access the BBC just like Sky used to (no idea if they still use that method) no purchase of a TV license then no decryption card which means you cant watch so no need to have BBC TV goons going around houses etc that will save a lot of money right away and then they can also put to bed those poor old TV detector vans aswell ! You may have noticed I didn't state how much the BBC Subscription TAX should be and this is because ITV will have to also be part of this even of they don't charge because their transmissions will need to go through this box aswell even if they don't directly charge for their subscription they will need to pay 50% of the TV BOX costs so if its a £24 Box then 50% = £12 per year minimum ITV subscription charge and what every the BBC want to charge if the subscriber actually wants to watch the BBC !

My student flat had a tv licence for the kitchen, but not for the bedrooms (weird rule about locked doors or something like that). That meant that I could legally start watching something on my laptop in the kitchen, and continue watching in my room so long as I didn't plug the laptop in, but if it needed charging and I plugged it in my watching was no longer legal. I regret that I was paranoid enough that I followed this rule to the letter.
I now have no licence, don't watch BBC or live TV. This channel is helping with the paranoia I get from their threatening letters and emails, as I stupidly filled in their 'no licence needed' thing so they have my details :(

The way TVLicensing swindle it, I mean work it out, is just the same as multiple occupancy houses. If a room, or suite of rooms is occupied by a person and is able to be locked to prevent other people to have access, TV Licensing consider it a seperate dwelling. If it doesn't have a lock and other people can come and go as they please, then it is part of a larger single dwelling.

Do the royal residence’s and 10 / 11 Downing street need a television licence ? 5) f someone watches tv and an I pad i, say football, ) at the same time, there is a time delay of about 30 seconds between the 2 units, so that to me says that one of the units is not streaming live, -- comment ?

people need to be careful when it comes to shared housing.
if you share a house where one person is the Tennant and the others are just lodgers then 1 TV licence covers the entire building.
If you are in bedsits within a house or you rent a room which has it's own lock and where each rented room is subject to it's own seperate tenancy agreement, usually referred to as a HMO, and share facilities such as a kitchen then each tenancy is subject to a seperate TV licence as well as needing one to cover the common areas. that means a single house where it has 4 rented rooms as well as a shared living room, kitchen and bathroom. then you would potentially need 5 seperate tv licences if everyone watched live TV in their rooms and sometimes on devices plugged in in the common areas.

    Good question.
If I don't, why would he?
UA-cam has any topic you want, pretty much. So why make do with programmes hosted by the same old bunch of overpaid, talentless hasbeens?
Morning programmes. Does anyone watch those? A handful of tired farts sat on a couch discussing nothing of interest to most people.
My cousin used to switch on the tv when her children were babies, because the voices would keep them company while she was busy washing and cleaning. That was her tv's primary use. She didn't like the threatening letters.
So the BBC did well out of her, as it does out of everyone who doesn't use their service, which is becomng more politicised and left wing (so its critics constantly complain about. Don't pay for what you don't like, I say. And don't pay for what isn't fit for use).

Thankfully you are still here to tell it, they could of submitted that as written evidence and slapped you with a fine or worst for admitting stealing bbc's content.

    Hello, no subsriber.
Today I cancelled the Tv licence, although it was a bit stressful, they questions were really strange.
Now I am having a numpty moment. I was told no live tv Gb news on youtube, understand that.
However does this mean all live shows on youtube, like when someone is doing craft and speaking with people in live chat.?
    Thank You.

I use iptv (best player on xbox series x or lg smarters pro) watch live tv (stream) from usa (fox news) nothing illegal about that son.😂 so the term live tv from other countries should be added to the exemption list. Lets muddy the waters. In any case what if instead of watch bbc live you only listen to it through a vhs player? I used to do that to listen to star trek next gen as i had no tv 😂

I used to like the apprentice and used to watch it regularly, until they change the rules about iPlayer. I don't think that the series ever really recovered from the format change of 2011, when it became about starting a business rather than getting a job with lord sugar

Yes you do. You need a TV Licence to watch TV channels on any TV service or live TV on streaming services, no matter where it is broadcast or distributed from. This includes satellite or online streamed programmes from outside the UK or Channel Islands, such as sporting events and foreign shows.

The TV Licensing website and documentation will happily give unclear or false information to create doubt and confusion. That way people will be more likely to pay up just to be on the safe side. Don't be fooled! Stay strong!
