Just imagine if EVERY HUSBAND AND WIFE WORKED SO WELL TOGETHER AS A TEAM, DAY IN AND DAY OUT! HOW MUCH EVERYONE WOULD ACCOMPLISH!!!
I don’t have to imagine. My husband is like Eric. Ant nothing he can’t do. And he ant to proud to ask for help if I am not strong 💪 enough to help him. Like let’s say a bole barn shop.
He dug the holes, by hand and got the poles set just right and walked them up into each hole. Not trying to brag. David can do and make and fix anything, if it fixable.
I can think of a zillion things he use to do. Today at 70 with serious injuries and flaming 🔥 pain, he’s kind of slowed down.
We married very young. He was 16. I was 18.
He is also a musician. Had a couple two or three bands and played his guitar 🎸 and sang.
The 21 of this month December he’s having his first surgery on his left hand for severe carpal tunnel. Then next is his right shoulder:(
We have been happily married for 53 years. Raised two sons. Ones 52. The other is 49. Plus we have 6 grandkids. Hope for a great grand soon.
I fainted 4 years ago and I’m sitting in my wheelchair as I tap these words out. No hope for me to have a fix it surgery. At 72, I am advised to Not do anything to my spine but take serious pain meds:(.
But damm we had fun. Riding our Harleys. He has built two. The first time we couldn’t afford to but seats. I looked at the kitchen table and looked back at him and said, I see two kitchen chairs right there that look mighty comfortable!
We were the only ones riding with the riders that had out comfy kitchen chairs. 😂😂
Mam oh man we have had fun growing up together and now growing old together. It is very do- able. Too many couples give up, too easy! Where there’s love. There’s always a way to work things out. 🎄🎸🎸🎄 9:36

Man these two wear me out after a day's work I'm exhausted, see we got a storage shed, setting the pump I had to take a little power nap now we've got a stack of boxes to install how are you figures everything out is besides me. It just takes a good woman behind you I guess you two are fantastic
Might want to think about building a pavilion over that Connex box @Simple Living Alaska. With your snow loads a roof is mandatory. Just make it simple. Peeled logs...then some of those mill trimmings...trim the bark off and use a torch to finish them by burning.
You could build one for just the cost of fasteners and chainsaw fuel. It will add years to the life of your box.

Just found your channel. Enjoying it, only thing, alot of shows made in Alaska have horrible sound, When they are filming they need to realize the wind is always noisy and the person talking never has a mic on. But great show!!
Great set up
A simple way of finding the angle for the panels for that day
Is to, at mid day.. Place a cup like a Solo plastic cup on the panel
and then tilt the panel to balance or remove any shadows
Very simple
Love the channel. With the wind you get, have you looked into wind turbines. There are ones specifically designed for remote cabin, Arctic location application.
You have a good technical knowledge to do all this complicated installation. My opinion you should be qualified as a future contracror
Have you seen the self charging flashlights that you just shake to charge? How much energy do you think Bandit would generate if you could attach that mechanism on to his collar? 😆

Very interesting. Because of the mountains I don't think we could get much power. We only have direct sun light about 4 hours a day. That works awesome for you all though.

We have to have a generator for our hotel as a backup, I’d be tempted to bring my 40kva generator lol seems a lot less hassle but then again it depends on how easily you can get diesel and the price of it. We’re rural England and we don’t get great sunshine.
I would call that channel iron even thou it is aluminum . 👍🏻

Good point, I was kinda trying to deduce that somehow as well. Would also be an interesting information in regards to the sustainability of such a lifestyle.

We sold our travel trailer and suburban shortly after moving here. We lost Hunter (tabby mix) in January 2020 and Pepper is our black cat.

Could you have mounted the panels on the roof of the cabin?
They could, but the cabin roof is steep, not as accessible and could lead to leaks inside.

Have you ever thought of putting in a wind generator? Looks like you get plenty wind, could charge your batteries at night.
You guys work hard and you are doing a beautiful job, however, the location of the solar panel is too low. You guys should be having a couple of babies soon. The kids will go and mess around with the panel. Mount them higher, so that the kids cannot reach them. Moreover, if you decide to live there forever, as you grow older, it will be difficult for you to bend down and fix things or if you decide to move out and someone in their fifties moves in, they will find it difficult to bend down and do the work. I am old, so I thought I will give you advice from my point of view. Good luck.
