And for anyone that reads these other than the host... yes... Living a life style. It is how we as a nation used to live. Homesteader, Trappers, Guides, Farmers, Ranchers, even Loggers and miners too to some extent were life styles not just "jobs" You took care of most of your own needs and what WE all need mostly is food. Followed by shelter. Blessed be the host to show the world through this medium that most anyone can do it, even today, if you will put in effort. I am actively moving away from the city and to more "taking care of myself". To anyone thinking about it let these people be your inspiration.

I have been watching your videos in chronological order (obviously just saw this one 😆) and it's really the best Alaskan reality show since "The Last Alaskans" :D. Hope you guys keep enjoying the lifestyle you just described and hope you keep sharing your adventures with us !

I'm pleasantly speachless and humbled by you two. What an amazing life you have. Not a moment wasted!! Its quite admirable. Wish I was younger and could handle this lifestyle. But I'm happy living vicariously through watching you do it!!! I've been binge watching all your episodes and hardly sleeping lol

It is really refreshing to watch you two cook and grow your own food stock and canning. I would love to do that but my wife would never touch it . I am 86 so I should have did it 65 years ago. But thanks for your great videos and allowing me to go along. God Bless you!

Your fishing videos are some of my favorites. I used to go fishing a lot as a kid, with my grandpa, and they were the best moments of my life.

Life evolves around people and food. It’s very appropriate to gather with people to grow, hunt, fish, and prepare food as a daily ritual.

I know you two work so hard to have your homestead, but I somewhat envy the simpleness of your life. I love Alaska.

You guys really made the right choice on that kind of lifestyle while many of us can't because of some limited resources.

Fishermen share their stories so let me share mine with you. When I went to Alaska, I too went on the Kenai Pennisula, all the way to Homer. There I caught the limit of three halibut and a silver. I was thrilled, believing my husband, may he RIP, hooked the Silver for me! Anyways, I filleted the fish and caught attention. It was a half day trip, totally worth it. Just in case you get to Kodiak, ( I took the ferry), you can get the largest heaviest halibut without even getting on a boat. The spot ( I'm sure it's well known) is lined with sawdust, a mill once existed there and catching the fish is just heavy lifting, no fight. But very good. When halibut are smaller, they are tastier. I hope to go back someday, maybe I can get to the Russian River. But I have to say, I love halibut.

This video really brought back the memories and I thank you. There is no finer eating than a freshly caught salmon or halibut or king crab but the fun has been taken away by all the tourists that have taken over the rivers on the Kenai and literally fished them out. Your being a new resident, I am sure you will see this in time but don't let that ruin your joy of doing what you like to do and going for the food you like to eat. I would not take for my experiences in Alaska and had it not been for the oil pipeline boom, I would still be there. Though I still have many of your videos to see, you are allowing me to relive a time that I hold dearest to my heart, I just hope you don't mind me making references to that period. Take care and stay safe!
