I reset my iPhone a while ago and after that it showed up with the “iphone is disabled connect to iTunes message” (which is a message you get only if you enter your password incorrectly many times). So I contacted Apple and they said it’s a very rare system error and it was impossible to fix, my data is still there. Can these guys fix it Linus?

Frist error was contacting Apple look for a reputable third party repair business
Connect to a laptop that has iTunes installed. Turn it on make sure its in Recovery Mode. You can use ifixit tutorials to solve that. I think 3utools can also fix that.
Unless you have a very important need for that data, it’s probably not worth it. These kind of data recovery services are very very expensive

Wow... That ipad recovery story is pretty insane. Its crazy how they figure out that they needed to add pressure and that instead of transferring the data via cable, they emailed the files instead. The technician who was working on it must've put so much effort to find out how to work around the challenges. Would of loved to watch that in person.

If your iphone X ever gets into a bootloop, you have to uplug the earphone piece, restore, and then plug it back in. Almost no repair shop knew it and I found 1 case in a random forum but it worked for me and the person working at the repair shop was even surprised. Logical Problem, Illogical Solution?

I had an iPhone SE that I did my own battery repair on. The supplied adhesive was not very sticky and failed a week later. If I shook the phone you could hear a clunk from what most likely was the unsecure battery. One day I dropped it and it would not turn on, I was thinking it was probably the battery cable that might've creased when it hit the ground. My hypothesis was correct and I ordered another replacement. Once I did the repair it wouldn't stop boot looping thinking it might've shorted badly so I put it in disk mode and connected it to iTunes. Luckily I had updated it with iTunes literally a day before and a backup was saved.
Moral of the story: don't be an idiot.

Okay calm down your horses I am from a country called Pakistan and I recently bought a damn expensive laptop and somehow the hinge got busted so I gave it for a repair, and when I got it back he busted the ICs on the motherboard and had zero technical knowledge I knew more than him and I am just a sophomore in University so I made the comment as I really appreciate people that know what they're doing and wish that this type of a company was at my place cause like there isn't 1 professional person here and that frustrates me

Hey Linus. Please make a correction to your video around the 10 minute mark. You gave credit to the wrong person/company. Jessa Jones from iPad Rehab figured out the solution to the speaker ic that caused boot looping; not DriveSavers. He does not find you at fault, but I believe that credit should be given where credit is due because of all the hours Jessa Jones put into that solution. Thank you nonetheless for your videos on tech. This is one of the many sources I use to learn more about technology.
Edit: Jessa Jones was not the only one to help come up with the solution. She had help and credited the correct people in a video. I still believe there should be a correction to your video, since DriveSavers had nothing to do with that solution and they only knew about it due to a text that they received from Jessa herself.

A piece was done, on a data recovery business, in Newfoundland, of all places, where the woman who owns, and runs it, and her team, managed to recover photos, from an Iphone that was dropped in water. Apple said it wasn't possible, that they were SOL, yet she go all 8000+ photos, off the phone.

One of my worst experiences was when I was in my bed on my phone and I dropped it. It bounced off the bed, past my head and behind the headboard, onto (not the carpet in my room) a unplugged cord with the prongs laying face up, and broke my screen.

I'v had two out of my last five phones completely die on me. Having most things on SD card meant I lost nothing and was able to plug and go with my next phone. I'm using a Oneplus now...no SD card expansion. Feels bad man.

Do watch out as SD cards (and pretty much all memory devices) are known to fail, but I agree that they are a pretty good "black box" that can be removed from the wreckage and recovered. Also much easier to backup and transfer to and from computers when mtp or the usb connector in the phone itself is playing up. Having an sd card slot is my main criteria for a phone nowadays.

Took my S8 out of the case to give it a clean and absentmindedly left it that way, and absentmindedly left it on the automobile roof later on. By the time I remembered it had been run over multiple times. Enter an HDMI to USB-C adapter and I managed to get the most important data off it. Thank you Gorilla.
Moral of the story: just back everything up, and then none of this shit matters.

Linus, one small correction - there's almost no difference in cleaning power of different power ultrasonic cleaners. Cleaning solution is what matters. There're things that clears gunk, pcb varnish or even digs into metal on the board.

An idea for future videos like this one; use the Sorkin walk and talk method. It will liven up the heavy dialogue when not actually present at the source.
There's currently a huge issue similar to what you mentioned with iPhones since iOS 13.
They will get stuck on the bootloop and are unable to get out of recovery mode, leading to an 'error 14' message. There are hundreds of thousands of complaints to Apple Support and they simply tell you they can't do anything and you have to restore the device.
Such a huge issue that has made many people switch to Android.

I can't be certain. But I think those are Quan Li Stencils. Even if they aren't "in house" their stencils and iThor drivers are the real shit.
Do you really think they would allow their in-house tools to be publicly shown on camera? That's a surefire way to get your tools reverse engineered, which then makes it much easier to reverse engineer processes.

here in Brazil we have a serious problem of constant common robberies, practically one on every corner. worse than a broken cell phone is a case of stolen cell phone. it should be a little more difficult to recover the data.

RIP all of the local phone recovery places around me. Which sucks because my first gen Pixel XL is rebooting and it appears that all I would need is to reflow the chips to get it working. I also want a new battery, because the phone is being opened anyway, and nobody around here can do it.
