The worst part about Whisper is waiting for breathing to activate. Sitting scoped in staring at the boss during dps makes it feel like an eternity.

It’s not really a whole lot different than shooting your 2 other guns just to activate bait and switch on a cataclysmic
its much faster now since they buffed the timer, its not 3 second anymore, more like 1.5
@@bilbo9730 yeah it's way shorter now but you cant see when it activates cause of all the buffs on your screen these days. WIsh there was a better indicator cause i end up waiting an extra second or two just in case

Whisper really is top tier consistent DPS against Oryx now. Example: My team I was with was trying to complete Master Oryx with challenge, and we found that we couldn't get him to final stand in 2 phases with Linears consistently. As soon as we all put on Whisper (or at least most of us, because a few didn't have the catalyst), that 2 phase became way more consistent, and it only took a couple more tries before he was dead. It was Void Surge, so we were previously using Taipan, but there was also Overcharged Sniper, which is why we switched to Whisper.
And they giving it a 10% extra damage next season

Nah, it was just a random lfg team. They were using the basic weapons like taipan and thunderlord.

I been using this method since the season started. Averaging 4-5 mil just shooting a single gun is so fun, people always asking what i used for dps beating bait and switch users 😂

Might have done more with Gathering storm or Golden Gun from that range.
Gathering specifically doesn’t work against oryx (even if you put it on his hand) and golden gun is just less damage. Blade is better because all knives hit on oryx because he is just that massive

@@composites0ul sometimes big bosses have a weird hitbox when it comes to certain supers and weapons
Whisper was my favorite era, you couldn’t miss a crit and divinity didn’t exist. Some bosses had very small or moving crits so it wasn’t so boring killing bosses. I’m gonna start using it again!
I already made a titán solar build with it. And of course the big burning maul bonk.
In the beginning of the lightfall my raid team inspired me to do the interesting thing. They claimed 6 hunters with 6shot golden gun and makes orbs so I regen my solar knives instantly, combining it with star-eater scales it makes 14,370,100 dmg…
These are the type of lfg teammates I got during day one of root of nightmares can barely even hit 1 mil in 2 damage phases 💀💀😭😭

Now that season of the deep is here it’s going to do even more damage with the 10% sniper damage buff in PvE
I discovered whisper recently and i honestly thing something is bugged, i am almost sure it wasnt doing this much damage a season ago
Snipers did also get a little buff this season

@Damian Greene Yes i do, and its kinda anoying how sometimes you cant See if its activeted or not because you have more than 4 buffs already. I should have typed rediscover, since i got it al the way back when whisper mision was in game but never rly used it because how little dmg it was doing, than i used it for fun in last wish raid and got suprised by how much dmg it was doing, than a few more dmg checks on diffirent bosses and turns out this gun slaps

How did he does 68k with whisper? I used it a month ago and with 3x solar surge I did. round about 50k I shot 50 shots total and my dmg was 2.5m the run before I did 5.6mio total dmg with Taipan
You really need Whispers cat for it to do that. Also being overleveled would contribute.
And people are confused when I use whisper
With how perfect you need to be with this and how long the damage phases you had to of had for it it should do more honestly.
I mean the sniper has mulligan so you don't have to be 100% accurate and the damage is ok

Whats the point of rocking solar if you don't end up having radiant during damage phase?
Radiant doesn’t stack with well, so you dont need radiant If you have warlocks. Solar hunter supers are the best against oryx.

You can get 5.2 mil with a taipan x3 void surge. Save an exotic slot if you don’t have whis catylst

@@Gwynbleidd_117 if you hold s the blades are much more accurate and I’m not sure what the fragment looks like for super projectiles so that could help to. But yeah GG is a guaranteed crit

If you think this is "insane gameplay," then I hate to break it to you, but you're just not good at the game. This is simple abuse of the meta, showing whisper doing some great numbers. Anyone can do what he just did, so who really made the immature response here?
I could see myself using Whisper in this raid. heck, I’ve been using Outbreak since RoI and I’ve got 113 thousand kills on it so far. I swear I’m stuck in the 2010’s
I best out a star eater scales hunter the other day in raid dps on starfire protocol, and I didn’t throw a single fusion grenade. How you might ask? Whisper of the Worm is GOAT for Oryx.
Why would you run starfire and not use your grenades?
Maximize your damage by using nova bomb and apotheosis veil. Overcharged vortex with echo of undermining. I'm consistently hitting 4.8mil+ with my taipan, 5mil easy with a whisper

Whisper will only be good if your teammates suck or is you do dmg on oryx cuz he has a long dmg stage
You should try Sleeper. You’ll do better damage if you have Sleeper catalyst than most weapons.
with my Briars I almost did 6.7million, teammates were aiming at Saturn or something.

@@Dr.Libratum I have a Asc Rewind Rounds/Focused Fury craftable, and an Asc Reco/Frenzy Adept.
Achieved it with the craftable, but I think the Reco/Asc would have allowed me to expend all the heavy I had during DPS (There was a lot), the reload speed from Frenzy Might have helped a lot.
Not that impressive considering you would have needed to do more than 8 bombs to achieve that
If you was on Titan you can use path of the burning steps and surge mods. Just kill all tbe thrall in the middle with a grenade and it will drop an orb.
The damage increase is insane 🤯
next season those won't stack anymore unfortunately but burning steps will have a higher increase than surges, 25% vs 22% with three surges

Nah bro, they deal around the same damage and solar is lot better against oryx.
Gathering storm is a lot more damage but only one person can use it, cause the DoT (which is the majority of its damage) doesn't stack

Damm how do you guys always have ao much heavy. Last time,i tries whisper here i was basically out after the first phase and barely got any bricks the rest of the fight.
Running double special weapons increases the drop rate a ton, and if you want even more, make sure you and your fireteam all have heavy ammo finder and heavy ammo scout on.
Double special weapons cause more heavy bricks to drop, plus Bricks from Beyond seasonal artifact, and with heavy scout mods

lol no. Surround sucks in group activities. What you going to do? Ask the group not to kill ads?? Even if you do, there's always that 1 person that will do it anyway. On top of that, the enemies won't be around you long enough to take full advantage of the surrounded perk.

Bait a switch does the same damage boost, cataclysm does more overall damage, and has more range

@@thegymteachersgrandma if you're dealing with LFG, ppl are going to do what they want even if you ask. That's why I don't depend on situational perks like surrounded. The majority of times when I beat this boss fight. I'm usually top dmg. I've never used a surround perk weapon because this isn't the right boss fight for it. There's very few boss fights where it's worth using.

The number one tip for good boss damage will always be having a mediocre fireteam.
For real though, you probably would have been at or close to 6 mil if you use taipan/cataclysmic.

Most I've done is 4.7mil on Oryx. And that's on a titan with no effective super for this boss. I'm sure I can also easily do 5+ on a hunter. I don't play mine often though.

You would have done higher with sleeper I think, your damage was mostly just cause 3x reserves and teammates had bad dmg. Next season though...
this is an unfair piece of data, your teammates were horrible lmao, with a taipan and izanagis youd have done 6m+, 1 taipan shot does 82k with triple surge and izanagis around 147 base, dodge to reload the taipan and triple kinetic reload for iza (iza>reload>super>unload taipan>iza to finish dps). Whisper is unfortunately just not good, your teammates however were worse.
How is it unfair, the video title states that it's a random LFG. You can throw out any video by stating that "if everyone used the meta setup this wouldn't count"

Sorry 5 mill is not impressive in 2 phases + final stand people without a super and debuff do over 2.5 mill per phase only a well cataclysmic and fire and forget do that if you have surge and damage perk, it is impressive that you didn’t run out of ammo tho
