To change exposure setrings to the way you described, no need to dive into the menus. Just press and hold the front scroll wheel select ISO.
Here you set the order of importance, and if you have more than one dial set to use the front dial it will default to thr option that appears first. For me exposure compensation. To force the camera to use the other one, like iso, just press the front dial once to toggle between them. If you are doing this a lot, you might want to change the order of prioirty.
As you discovered with the ND, a number of buttons can be long pressed to access and change certain setting to avoid digging through the extensive menu:
Disp/back - to set up all the function buttons
Q button from ahooting mode - to set up the layout of the Q menus
Q button from witnin Q menu environment to create or adjust your custom settings (film recipes for many people)
Front dial - to set up its function and priorities
For manual focus, if you set the ael/afl button to focus (aka back button focus), you can use this to pre focus before fine tuning with manual ring and shooting. But because of the poor MF experience I use this set up with continuous shooting mode.
A really useful function to allocate to a button or touch fn is to toggle between C1 and ehatever C-mode you are in. Set this to a more neutral film recipe that works for most situations, with a vanilla shooting experience anyone can use. Then, if you want to hand to a friend and you usually use back-button focus, or certain views or settings, quickly switch to C1. When then give it back, toggle back to your last setting.
Populate the My Menu so that you dont have to keep finding things you change regularly, but not regularly enough to go in the Q menu for the custom settings. Like image stabilisation, which can be left off 95% of the time, but you dont want to be hunting around for it at a criritcal moment.
Oh and for better AF performance you absolutely must not use AF+MF. If you do so the camera uses shutter priority, even if you have set the camera to focus priority. There is no warning about this in camera, nor in the manual under AF+MF. It is hidden in the manual under focus/release priority. And for Continuous shooting mode users yiu really must set up the mode (custom mode best) and change it according to what you are ahooting - it helps greatly with AF accuracy not to be using a mode that is working against you!
Loads of things to discover and you could make dozens of videos, but the ones I mention really help some of the frustrations that might put off new users!

You can also set that front button on the lever to turn on or off the ND, much faster dan holding the lever

Great suggestions - that ND switch is a great tip! Make sure your RAW processor of choice works with Fuji compressed RAW files first.

I set up the Fn1 button (very top-right part of the camera when looking toward the subject) to turn on/off the ND filter. I use it a lot and waiting for several seconds is annoying with the lever. In the other hand, the button is instantaneous.
On a similar note, I set up the front red Fn2 button to bring up the flash menu. In this way, I can easily turn on and off the ND filter and flash, which I change often and are perhaps the main settings that significantly change the way the camera functions (aside from hybrid EVF).

    • @brownbear100
      @brownbear100 Місяць тому

Sounds like you have the V since the front button isn't red anymore. But with both I agree the delay can be a bit annoying. I sent that on the front to do this.
Find the delay on the lever a bit annoying. The x70 was the same with the top button. If I've allocated a function to a FN button, it's because I want quick access in the heat of the moment. I have it set to self-Timer for now, but may well change to flash settings or flash on/off - I think it's a great tip to allocate a Fn button for flash. As an x-t5 user it's easy to forget I actually have one!

Better to set ND by pushing in the back scroll wheel 🫡 (it presses in like a L3/R3 on a video game controller)

I’ve come from xpro3 and noticed some lag slowness with the x100vi. Wondering if it’s the raw and normal jpeg and compression settings? Using a uhs-I u3 card. Anybody else?

It's funny how we figure things out like the ND filter when it's written in the manual, but we just throw the manual away when we get a new camera 😂
Another "cool trick" is, that you can format your sd card without going to the menus by holding the 'drive/delete' button and back dial button for a few seconds

    • @ItsTomRich

AF+MF ON is the worst you can do! This automatically switches focuspriority to releasepriority and so you have more unsharp photos.
