With all of the electronics in new (internal combustion) cars, does the battery need to be changed much more frequently than in older cars with less electronics? Or do the newer cars have a way of making electric use more efficient? Hope that makes sense. It did in my head. 😆
Great question. This is 48 V architecture. It’s designed to support the new screens and the new technologies. However these batteries are very expensive and only need to be replaced at the same time window as those of a regular vehicle. Tough job, somebody has to do it. 😁

@@CarCoachReports Knowing US, we would increase the displacement to 4.3 liters and add a Kompresssor. Then fabricate our own in house Hot Vee intake. Toss twin tech 100 mm TBs on it, large Titanium valves. Sodium filled intake side. And reflash the ECU to match. Then, my kid brother would drive it because I'm just too tall to fit inside. But, I can Dream. And, oh what a dream it would be.

I've heard the 63 sports seats are high bolstered and not very comfortable? Curious your opinion. Trying to decide between a used GTC or a new 63.. Tough when I can't see the 63...yet.. Thanks.
Considering the design, engineering, and quality , it is obviously not from the big 3, even without any badges on it. As a person once said: 'If you have to ask what it costs, you can't afford it '..😉 biggest question is how long you can drive it around NY or CA before you get carjacked?
The LC500 offers a lot but the SL has rear steering that offer far more specific handling and better performance than the Lexus. The LC500 is fun to drive but the SL AMG is a whole step farther in every category.

Looks like a recycle of hardware from the AMG GT Roadster with the software from a Mercedes C-Class, sold at a huge markup. I think Mercedes missed the mark with this one because the enthusiasts who understand the legacy of the SL will easily see this as a recycle of Mercedes platform and parts, while non-enthusiasts who want a cruiser like the previous model SL will be put off with its burly performance and ride. For enthusiasts looking for a legacy SL experience, I recommend a used AMG GTC Roadster and for those looking for the modern SL experience, get a used S-Class Cabriolet. Both deliver better on their respective capabilities and you'll save big money.
The problem with the SL is its image as an older man's crisis car.... or a gift to his trophy wife. 🏆 As a whole, Mercedes has an older person's image, like Buick or Opel.
Thank GOD Mercedes still caters to old men. The last thing we want is some batshit banzai boy racer like a McLaren. The SL exudes old money from old men gunning it from DC to Miami overnight -to catch the sunrise on South Beach over a Caffé Americano ☀️
