    Great video! Thank you so much for taking the time to experiment. I think I m going to use corn syrup for my project. What is the douse for the syrup vs. Alcohol?

      Hi! I'm so happy you found this video helpful! I just estimate a 50/50 mixture. It doesn't have to be exact :). Just make sure you test it on a scrap piece of fondant or on an area that won't be seen before you use it on your cake. Sometimes it wants to separate and give a streaky appearance.

    I am going to be doing some flower painting on a wedding cake - thinking of piping with thinned fondant and was wondering if the glaze made with corn syrup and alcohol would work well on the flowers to perk them up -as I want to do white flowers on a white fondant covered cake(just on the sides). What do you think? I really enjoyed this video and will be trying them all at some stage or another. Thanks a lot!

    Can the PME or Dinky doodle be used on royal icing cookies?

      That's a good question! I have not tried it on royal icing, so I can't say for sure whether it would work or not. But the glaze does have a little but of an off taste to it and I wouldn't recommend it for cookies. 🙂

    After applying the PME glaze spray, can you refrigerate the cake?

      Hello! Yes, the cake can be refrigerated, but just be sure to do your best to keep the cake from condensating. Though the glaze spray gives the fondant a protective layer, it's not completely waterproof. :)

      The alcohol dissipates, so it's doesn't add any alcohol content

      Absolutely! I purchased mine from Evil Cake Genius! It's a little pricey, but the spray can is pretty big and you get a good amount :) evilcakegenius.com/index.php/shell-and-shine-edible-glaze.html

      Have you ever tried spray oil? I am thinking that spray olive oil might work well to provide a shine and not affect the flavor detrimentally.

      Hi Tina! You are very welcome! Corn syrup is a clear sweet liquid... the equivalent in the UK would be glucose syrup. It is called corn syrup here in the US because it is most often made from corn, but it is pretty much the same thing as glucose syrup from what I understand :)

      Hello! That's a great question! As long as it stays in a dry environment it will stay dry. But if it is exposed to any kind of moisture or humidity it will become sticky. :)

    thank you for posting this. i badly need it for my next fondantc cake "unicorn" i just recently start in baking industry and really just started with the fondant cakes.. this video is very helpful...
    question... ahm what happen if i use glycerine? after 24hrs will is be same as vegetable oil (shinny then after 24hrs big difference)

I never thought to try glycerine to make fondant shiny! I will do an experiment this evening and will get back to you tomorrow to let you know what I found!! It will be interesting to find out! :)

      Hi Lily!! I have just begun the experiment using glycerine to shine up both oily and dry fondant and I wanted to share my initial findings with you! The glycerine was difficult to brush on smoothly over the fondant and after about 20 seconds I noticed lots of tiny bubbles forming on the surface of the glycerine. And now it has been about 10 minutes since I first applied it to the fondant and the tiny bubbles have spread into large holes that measure about 1/4 to 1/2 half inch wide. Unfortunately it's looking like glycerine wouldn't be a good product to use to shine a cake. It was a great idea, though, since it doesn't dry out!! Thank you so much for sharing your idea with me!! It was fun to try a new idea!! Have a wonderful day!!

      I'm making fondant rose bouquets for Valentine. Last Year my roses were very Beautiful,but, there was no gloss to them. Though the customers loved them, but, I would like a more lifelike shine... thanks for the video

      Hi Nicole! I wish I had the answer for you! Unfortunately, making the chocolate coating on cake pops shine is more difficult than making fondant shine. I am in the process of experimenting and trying to figure out a way to do this, but I don't have an answer for you just yet. Using PME glaze spray or something like Poppy Paints super shine may be used on chocolate, but it may affect the taste of your cake pops... definitely something you don't want.And the corn syrup and alcohol method will separate over the chocolate and not stick to it. I did a little research for you and the most I could find was using a plastic sphere mold and molding the chocolate inside of that. The smooth plastic will give it a smooth shine, but the process sounds a little complicated to me. The only other thing I could find was dusting them with edible luster dust. I wish I could be of more help to you! If I can unlock the secret to easy glossy cake pops I will be sure to upload a tutorial!!
