    Not sure if you know this, but you can put the first one in your coffee grinder and make your own luster dust. Will come out very light.

    After you color the raw sugar could you put it in the grinder to make them smaller if you wanted smaller pieces or even grind down to dust?

    • @Cookiescupcakesandcardio
      @Cookiescupcakesandcardio  8 років тому +20

      The smaller the piece of sugar is, the less shiny it is which is why I'm using a large granule.

    • @jettehh22
      @jettehh22 8 років тому +2

      Do you think it would work to mix one of the colored gels and the pearling gels in with the sugar to make it shimmer more? I was thinking the same thing as the OP regarding grinding the sugar down to make it a bit finer. It seems like it was the easiest, quickest method at least!

    Seaweed can make a good glitter as well, if it's small enough the taste and smell isn't very strong, definitely best in non-sweet treats though. Really good for bath bombs and savory foods though!

      +Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio did you know that you can use paper punches on the gelatin kind after its all dry (probably could with the tylose kind as well). You can do all sorts of shapes and sizes. I like using a small round punch to make edible sequins they look amazing! I just put them onto the cake or whatnot with some piping gel.

    Could you add some of the pearl sheen to the sugar glitter like you did with the gelatin one? Would that give it more sparkle? The sugar one seemed like it would be the easiest to me, plus it didn't involve luster dust, which I don't like to use because it can get a little pricey.
