The mom said the victim killed herself?!? Lol, so she chopped her own head off in the woods? JFC.

So her mother posits that Deborah may have ended her own life... Was this before or after she decapitated herself?🤔

No one's letting her out. It's 34 to life. She could very well never be let out. She's not even up for parole until 2056.

People think there was some kind of sick symbolism behind Jemma removing the head. A show of power, a final act of control, some even talked about the occult?!?!
Nah. It's far more likely she chopped off the head because it made it easier to fit the body in the suitcase. Bear in mind she was trained in anatomy and that kind of technique on human cadavers, so she could have done it pretty easily.
The body was apparently meant to have been stashed somewhere more discreet, but that flat tyre threw off her timescales. She was probably also paranoid that the AA man had maybe rumbled her or become suspicious, so she would have needed to act more quickly. Bear in mind the rental car needed to be back in London and handed back by a certain time...

She was given life in prison but eligible for parole after 34 years. Western European countries are not known for harsh sentences. Living in the US I am continually shocked at the leniency given murderers in some countries.

One question left unanswered, and something that many locals were asking when her body was first discovered is: why Salcombe? And why that specific spot?
Apparently, it’s not the sort of place tourists know about or visit much. Even many people who’d lived in the town all their lives may never have actually gone down there. So how did this evil woman even know about it? An did why travel across the country to deposit the body in that specific area?
It just doesn’t make any sense.

    • @fishandchipsupper

The phrase " An did why travel " doesn't make any sense either.

What makes this case even more appalling, if that was even possible, was the fact that Jemma was not "in need" of money as she owned a property worth millions of pounds. She murdered someone who saw her as a friend and who had helped her before. That she showed no remorse for her crime makes me wonder if a full life tariff should have been imposed.
It is people like Jemma and others like her who commit such heinous crimes who persuade me to wonder if Stalinist forced labor death gulags do actually have a place in the Criminal Justice System. Some people simply do not deserve either sympathy or mercy, and society has been too generous with both to convicts.

The house had been in the family "for generations" and they felt entitled to it, I think. The alterations they tried to make to it were insane - you can see the house in its original form on the 2008 Street View image, but later they basically tried to build a whole few extra floors on top. Absolute madness and frankly it might have been easier to just pull the old house down and start again. Or indeed sold the house as was, move out of London with several millions, and buy a smaller house outright somewhere cheaper. Properly invest the difference and you'll be very comfortable.
There was actually a documentary with her mother, who showed the film crew around the unfinished property. There were still tools lying around, holes in the roof etc. and it was a total disaster.

This is why in many aspects having enemies is better than having friends because at least enemies are honest about their motives towards you while a friend may draw you in to gain your trust and then stab you in the back when you least expect it as was the case here there's fewer people that i find that i can truly trust on a personal level the older i have gotten which is why i keep my social circle to an absolute minimum that way you keep the bad apples out of your life its just not worth interacting with people that i don't and a complete waste of time aswell
