    Great video. I’ve been using the EV of all 50 for a little over 40 years now. I love the system I love the sound and I love the looks very compact but as you said I would not advise using for over 200 guest. I have a second system for larger crowds. One thing is the dispersion (horizontal) left to right is a little better than most typical speakers , so I think that helps with sound and less feedback from the microphones.

    I have had the Evolve 50s since 2018 as well. I have noticed that they have gotten "tired" but they still hold up against almost any set up I have used. I did get a pair of the Bose L1 Pro 32s with Sub2 for slightly bigger events. In my opinion the Bose is a better sounding system but the Evos make an amazing fill system and never really disappoint me.

    I feel the same way as you! Evolves have been my go-to for most events I do. I personally limit my Evolves to 100 guests or less outdoors and under 150 indoors. My next step up system is the Bose L1 Pro32/Sub2, and then for crowds over of 200 I bring my ETX rig (just like yours). Still, the Evolves come out to about 75% of my events and I enjoy the sound from them the most.

    Gigging is for sure a lot about convenience over time, but I have actually gone the separate direction, from Bose L1 with a B2 sub to 12" tops (Yamaha DZR12) and two 18" subs (JBL SRX818). The improvement in sound is just too big to not put into consideration. I really enjoy being able to deliver "big stage" type of sound, which you of course cannot with the portable line array systems. Audio and tech in general is a shady hobby, because it trips you into evolving GAS for better stuff all the time :D

      @@cjcroker it was a combination of finding a great deal and recommendations from fellow engineers. I haven’t heard anything negative about the XLFs so they are probably the best option considering the preset matching. But I’m very satisfied with JBLs, but as you know, it’s almost more about the room acoustics than the actual subs in a live situation (as long as you have enough power).

    I love column arrays! I have a set in white and a set in black. Mine are Blastking PLA-12 and PLA1200. A brand nobody has ever heard of but they are the best bang for your buck out there right now. It's the weirdest thing, it's like they don't even try and sell them. They don't have many reviews, no videos, they're not sending any out for UA-cam or other social media, etc. They're not advertising anywhere that I've ever seen. 12" woofers, 130db on the black set and 127 db on the white. (They changed designs. Black one is pole style and looks like RCF8 with the same specs, the white ones are designed like and look similiar to the Evolves) Specs are pretty much identical to the Evolve 50's but having heard them side by side the Blastking has more low end and it's harder to make them clip. Not as bright sounding as the EV 50's out of the box but they're more aggressive and half the price so for mobile events are perfect for me. I use these for 85% of my events now. If I want more bass for the event I'll add an EKX 18 or 2.
    I also have a micro system of Avante AS8's that I use for very small events, cocktail, ceremony, etc. As an EV fan I've been wanting to order the Everse 8 but I much prefer using columns (even with battery packs) so I don't think I'd use it much except for rear fill with the delay feature but then I think just order a EV 30 for that because I can't stand to use tripods anymore.
    There's been one time so far in the last couple of years I wished I would have brought my EKX system and one of those they put me on stage, in the corner, 30 feet away from the dance floor with tables in between and putting my speakers anywhere else wasn't an option either.

    I have been looking at the EV evolve 50 for a while now. I am a mobile DJ that does mostly small to medium size weddings. (Under 200 people) I keep going back and forth between these and the RCF 12s. I love my bass and just wish EV had a 15 sub instead of the 12. I would have gotten them by now. How does the bass sound?

    • @djphilsantos
      @djphilsantos Рік тому

      I have the 50’s. The bass sounds phenomenal up close. Very musical and tight. It just won’t hit as hard with sub bass music like hip-hop. But it has the punch you need

    • @DJDarylBennett
      @DJDarylBennett  Рік тому

      It has a solid thump and a full bass response. It doesn't thump like an 18 inch subwoofer, you're not going feel it in your chest. But a 15 inch subwoofer probably isn't going to either

    Nice 5yr review Daryl. I do have a slight correction. The mixer in the 50M is not 6 channels. It is 8. I am guessing you are calling 5/6 and 7/8 as one channel each. 5 and 6 can accept two different sources, such as mono keyboard and harp, but of course they are share the same EQ.
    Now to 7 and 8. They cannot have separate inputs like 5/6 since they are dedicated to BT only. You can get away with calling that one channel...

    I own both the EV Evolve 50's and the Bose L1 Model II speakers. I love the EV's for ease of set up and the light weightness of them and the fact that stupid drunk people don't mistake them for a post for them to put their hands on and steady themselves like they with the Bose........but.......the Bose sound much better. The dual 10's of the Bose B2 subs not only have more punch but, that punch can be felt evenly around the front as well as the back side of the sub. With the EV's, the subs kick more from behind then they do out front which I really hate.
