Japanese - two words for same idea
English - same word for two different ideas.
So true! 😂
Your daily reminder that "Police police police." is a gramatically complete sentence.
@@andrewlance3898took me a second 😭
@@andrewlance3898 do police police police, or do police police police police? and if police police police police, who can police police police?
@@anglecliquenative English speaking brain somehow understood this perfectly. I’m surprised
"Well, that expression is a bit too anime-ish"
Me : Nani!?!? 😲
😂😂😂
Me: Ehhhhhh!?!?
NANI!?
😂 lol totally me
it's bs tho. She needs to remember she doesn't know all the possible usages, culture aspects of each region, etc. My grandparents used it constantly.
[edit] nevermind, my mistake
“I just wanted to say it”

Me, learning japanese because I like anime, but still keeping a separation between anime speak and normal japanese in mind:
". . . Noted."
Same lol, that’s exactly how I feel!😅

You make learning Japanese fun
Thank you 🥺🥺
It can be fun... Until you go to Japan and see how you get treated as a foreigner and learn that their way of life and thinking is fundamentally different than anywhere else and they will never treat you like one of them 💀💀💀
@@peteypete9357 in every country people treat each other in a different way. And people in every country treat foreigners the same way they treat each other. And if you can not meet a societal standards you might be treated poorly.
But is that a problem of a country you visiting? Partially yes, but on the most part it's your problem for unknowing and enabling to implement them in your everyday life.
If you want to fit in you have to comply. You can't expect to change a foreign country as a foreigner.
You can never become a part of any country that is not your origin country but you can actually become a good citizen of that country.
That is in your power to do so.
That is what i actually think about any immigration. Be a good immigrant and you will be fine... probably.
@@peteypete9357 I've been there and tbh everyone was so incredibly polite and nice
@@peteypete9357 It's easy to tell you don't interact with Japanese people.
you should do a series on phrases that are “too anime” and how you would actually say it in real life!
Did she came in her panties?
SUCH A GOOD IDEA
Most of them would have no exact equivalent because they’re only used in anime
@@Puppygirll cum in paniers?
@@catmerchant8699 yes but it would be good to know what exactly is only used in anime - so we dont accidentally repeat it!
"Ugh you guys did it again" I felt that to my bones lol
I will never forget the Japanese!
With Japanese I always feel like I traded having to deal with verb conjugations for having to deal with politeness levels.
Thank you Sakaya for saving me the embarrassment of not speaking in anime
This is brilliantly broken down! So much more understandable than textbooks. 本当にありがとうございます!
I appreciate that way of explanation too. Real-life usage
Its the "mitette kurette arigatou" for me that gets me back again every time
It's mite kurette arigatou 🤓

how do you say laughing out loud in japanese
"When do you use "Nani"?"
"When an enemy stand attacks"
I remember it like this: "The word is actually Nan, Nani is when it's not followed by a descriptor". Not the best way to do it, but it makes it make a little more sense than it being different words
Ultimately a writing system is a convention. Where the "core" of a word ends might be disagreed upon by dictionary makers and linguistic analysis.
So like, who is to say Japanese u -verbs don't end in the consonant when that's the last sound that is unchanged. E.g. "os" osu osita oseru osanai.
Pretty much it's like having a start, a middle, and a end.
These are the best lessons. ❤
These are so freaking helpful. I've been lucky enough to find channels like yours for the different languages that I'm interested in, and they're all so fun!
I've learned better Japanese from you then my lesson books
Im still learning hiragana but little shorts like these do help thanks.

飲む("nomu", to drink), I'll keep that word in mind.

You’re always funny!!

Sayaka loves Sayan 😂❤
That enthusiastic “Exactly, you got it” is endearing!
Another complete and thorough explanation. Thank you Sayaka and Sayaka’s student 😂😂
Very helpful, I was always confused when I'd hear "なに” and "なんだ".
Thank you for clarifying.
This is what I don't get in Japanese books. This taught me so much in such a little time. This is such a natural way to learn Japanese. Glad I'm subscribed to your channel.
Why in this case "drink" is "飲む" not "飲みます" ?
casual vs polite
@@Alaskaxp2 thx
You're a gem im glad I found your channel!
It's the same like english: "how much", "how many". Many english learners struggle with these two too.
No wonder its taking me an eternity to learn Japanese.
These videos have been helping me learn the language better thank you for the education!
These tips are so handy cause it can be very confusing when going from textbook to anime to real life
I love your stuff, it's so informative.
Reminds me of English when using "an" or "a". Pretty sure you use "an" based on if the letter starting the next word is a vowel. It's the weirdest rule but there ya go (certainly not the weirdest rule in English)
Ex: "It was a bear."
"It was an animal."
It's whether whichever letter you PRONOUNCE is a vowel or consonant. There are plenty words that start with a vowel that still use 'a,' e.g. 'a unit'. - pronounced you-nit, therefore 'a'.
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER! Thank you for these videos!! I’m always learning something new here!
This is the first time I've heard the word particle referencing the language. Interesting concept.
So there was this girl I used to know who thought it's a good idea to learn my native language. I helped her quite a lot, but after 5 years, she still made major mistakes in the language, and I was merciless to the poor girl.............
Now I know how she felt. Thanks ever so much. 😅

Omg this was so helpful!!!
The way she just came at the camera at the end xD
Sweet.. I'm glad to know it's much more complicated than I thought.. relatable
very useful as I often make the same mistake.
Its so fun to learn japanese with you
I was so proud of myself because I thought I knew the answer to “what is “I drink coffee “?” Duo lingo teached me its “koohii o nomimasu”…. 😢
That’s the formal was to say it. This video has more casual speaking
Love this channel!
Can't figure which one is cuter. I personally like the blonde one
明けましておめでとう! 今年も色々教えて下さい 😊
I’m learning Japanese right now and this is so helpful! Thanks a ton!
I like to learn Japanese with you ❤❤
My brain is too slow for this 😮
shes teaching us the cultured version
Thankyou Sensei😊❤
This feels so much like hearing about non English speaking people learn about English, and makes me think about how our languages aren't so different. A good lesson in perspective I think 😀
Imagine having a whole language that you use utilize for Japanese Cartoonery.
Two Sakayas for the same lesson 🥳
“You guys did it again” LOL 💀💀💀💀
Thanks for the video, I'm actually learning more Japanese (kinda inspired by you and kinda by the plan to move to Japan someday)
Learned all my kana, now just learning kanji, words, phrases, grammar, and the answer to life! Thanks
I learn through having so much input that stuff like this seem natural but i can not explain why. Kind of like how babies learn, we have used that method for all of human history and it works so no need to change it.
Can also depend on the dialect.
Yeah, I'm never gonna understand enough of this.
Very useful
Could you make a video, in which you're talking about all Japanese particles, and what are their function, where they're placed etc...
Other languages: several words for one thing, all of them can be used in any context
Japanese: *hold my sake*
love these videos! I have started learning and getting into more types of Japanese media. This is super helpful! I hope that I will at least be able to use a little Japanese when I make my trip next year!
I’m glad to hear that! Thank you for learning Japanese with me :)
Thank you for this priceless explanation. It's exact and it doesn't add to confusion. Again you proved that you are the best. I can't thank you enough. Half of the Japanese I know is because of you. Thank you so so so so much! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
This two character style is better
nani is also used moments before turning into a human balloon.
That thanks was a jumpscare.
I've also heard Nanda, nandayo, and nandato in some japanese language stuff and subtitles say "What?" When said.
thank you
Actually helpful. Would like more
"i just wanted to say it." thats a mood lol

Ending scared tf out of me
You sometimes remind me of the actress Victoria Pedretti (but a Japanese version hahaha) ❤
Your example really helps me a lot! Thank you!
Glad I pay attention to subtitles.
That Nanko sounded more like Mmm anko on my headphones.
This makes so much sense!!! You're so good at explaining!!!
We need a collab between Sayaka and that guy who does skits about languages (universal, English, french and Spanish)
This is educational
“it’s too anime-ish”
me: *saying NANI?! everytime i watch something surprising on an anime* 😂😂😂
Nani o nomu?
But my boss always asked me:
Nanka nomu?
That is so true. I hardly ever hear anyone use "nani" outside of anime or in a comical way. 😅
You got yourself a new subscriber, this was entertaining as well as educational
The reversed map in the background drove me insane! But also, that was useful
I can't even say "what" without feeling like I'm being cringe.
This took me a while to figure out when i was learning nearly 20 years ago. You're offering such great tips to beginners!
Kono Indo no pan ha naan desu ka?
I am loving how I am learning with you. ❤
These are actually pretty good
"two words for the same word" idk i feel like every language has that, but arabic and chinese gotta be on a whole other level
I’m learning Japanese so this helps a lot, very quick and simple too.
Went Micro Machine Guy there at the end 😮
This is actually really cool
So, Mork from Ork saying nanu nanu probably also means "what what?!"
