I am 75 and I have started one year ago. Keeps the grey matter moving, enjoy it very much.
One more useful phrase is "go-chisō-sama deshita" which means thanks for your hospitality after checking at the restaurant.

when you went, how many people did you run into who could speak english?
@@Zayous I’m in Japan right now & a lot of people speak English, like 90% so far in Tokyo and Kyoto, I’m heading to Osaka in a few days so can’t tell you about that area just yet.
I also have been using Google translate and it helps a lot. You can definitely get by with no Japanese but it’s helpful and polite to know some words.

I will share this video with my other friends that are going to visit Japan. My wife and I will visit Japan in November 2023. We are planning to visit Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Kanazawa and Noto Peninsula. She wants to eat sushi and I want to eat wagyu beef. "Arigatou Gozaimasu."
