Olympic Champ - Jordan Burroughs Double Leg Takedown🥇

  • Опубліковано 24 сер 2024
  • Here former Penn State wrestler Geno Morelli shows how to properly fake and follow it up with a double leg takedown.
He also points out a commonly made mistake of raising back up up after faking a takedown which causes an unnecessary delay and movement between the original fake and the follow-up attack. The fakes in this case can be subtle as you only need a slight pause after the level change to give your opponent's mind the time to register and relax. Olympic Gold Medalist Jordan Burroughs is a great athlete to study who uses fakes effectively to enter his blast double-leg takedowns.

    • @davidhughes4785
      @davidhughes4785 Рік тому +1

Jordan Burroughs is one of all time great wrestlers.
He does use fakes, and he sometimes shoots a blast double that is countered by his opponent.
Then he immediately re-shoots a second blast double with no hesitation. He does not stand back up, but keeps his level low after his first shot.
Many times his opponent does not have enough time to recover good stance after defending the first shot.
Also some other great wrestlers have learned to shoot their opponents fake or their opponents stutter step.
Sometimes they stick their lead leg out too far when faking, and their opponent immediately grabs their lead leg or lead foot.
I think some Penn State University wrestlers are shooting and securing opponents lead faking leg, with good success.
Higuchi has some great fakes, fake arm drag to set up opposite side single leg takedown.
Some of his fakes are subtle.
After a snap down from a collar tie, he will simply touch opponents collar to set up single leg takedown. Sometimes he will briefly get an inside tie started and change to a single leg takedown, when opponent reacts by reaching.
Setups must be sold. Sometimes the setup is not a setup, but the start of a real takedown. If set up is sold, then the takedown has a greater chance of success.
I was a good wrestler, but not a great wrestler. Later I coached as a volunteer assistant. I learned more about how to wrestle after I began coaching and teaching moves to new wrestlers.
Good luck wrestlers, apply yourself to all aspects of your life, as you have strived to improve your wrestling skills.
At a certain point, you must assume total responsibility for your finances and who you allow to be your friends.
No dope, no creep friends-will a long way towards a better life!

It was Able Trujillo who took down Khabib. It was a lot like the blast double Burroughs used in the video, Khabib was moving backwards and had his feet too close together and Trujillo shot from outside at the perfect moment. Khabib famously responded by taking down Trujillo 21 times it that fight, setting the UFC record for takedowns in a 3 round fight.

      EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are 100% correct. YOU WIN THE LESSON!!!!!
Fakes actually don't do anything--because the response to nothing happening (i.e. a fake) is to do literally nothing in return.
However, then the fakes don't work anymore because we're not getting the reaction we want . . . hmmmmmm if there's only something we could do once we lower our level into position as if we were going to take a shot . . .
If someone doesn't respond to your fake--YOU MUST ATTACK. That is a sign of disrespect and it cannot be tolerated. So if you're going to fake, you MUST be prepared to actually attack off of it--every time--because that's the whole point of fake shots in the first place . . . to find an opportunity to attack! If they're going to sit there and allow you to attack, then take it!
