Glad to hear that Glen is doing so much better and able to get around some now, and glad you are able to go back to both food pantries. When I go to dollar tree I pick up a carton or two of the shelf stable milk to keep on hand so when I run out of fresh milk I have it as a backup, it tastes good and my hubby uses it in his cereal and I can cook and bake with it too. The expiration dates are usually pretty far out too, so it will last a long while on the shelf. Thanks so much for sharing!!
So much better to go to pantries that allow you to shop for what you will actually eat and try to plan meals as you shop. I dont receive SNAP/food stamps so we try to eat what we get from 2 pantries a month with as little supplement as possible. In June, so far, Ive only spent $16. We are very aware of normal servings sizes ie. 3 oz of meat for me and 4 oz of meat for hubs etc. It has caused us to lose a little bit of weight (which we needed anyway) and stretches our proteins further. Only one of our pantries carries "sweets" other than muffins, so that happily limits our sugar/junk food intake too. lol If you ever can choose chirizo, its so good in chili. Its not that spicy but it is REALLY flavorful.

We have the original pancake mix all the time and I only use water. It works just fine. The other ingredients just make them really fluffy.

Glad to hear you and Glenn are doing well. I make chili with salsa mixed with a little Ragu tomato sauce. I add black means to the ground beef and stir in a little cumin, chili seasoning and garlic powder. Stir some ground beef, onions and green peppers and stir in cheese. I eat is as just chili or pour over cooked vermicelli noodles. It makes a big pot. We get four meals out of it. Really good. You can add any type of cheese that you want to eat. Very happy to hear you guys are doing good. Take care.

I watch most of your videos but rarely comment. Thank you so much for all you share. I am very happy to hear Glen is making progress! If I heard heard you correctly, I think you mentioned making puppy chow with the chex mix. Just an FYI ( I am not sure you realized this), but that mix is preseasoned. You may want to try it before making the chow. That spice cake looks delicious. I haven't had one of those in years. Thank you for sharing

Yummy. I bet migas would be good with some chopped bell peppers and onions. Would those leftover crumbs in the bottom of the bag of tortilla chips work for this?

My friend used to use bagels to make pizza bagels. She would use canned pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. They were really good.

Was that frosted krispies cereal or frosted rice krispy squares?? I saw the number 8 on the box but I couldn't make out what it was saying around it. The writing wasn't dark enough.

Is there anything else you can use in the breakfast meal without using eggs. I don't like eggs
How do they determine the final weight limit? Is there a scale at the end and if it's over you have to take stuff out?
They do have a scale, we can weigh our box at any time to see where we are at or wait until we are done. If it goes over the limit you have to put something back and if you are under you can keep shopping if you would like to. The weight is determined by how many people in the household. The more people the more weight you can have.

We do receive food stamps and we utilize the food pantry to help with the groceries. Sometimes we run out of certain things.
Good for you that's what they are for ! I know still with the cost of food people need all the help they can get! I don't see food prices going down either here in c.a.@@OneDayAtATime7
