I may be disabled myself but I swear if I ever get my break i'm going to hire someone to help me drive around and show kindness to the homeless iv'e been there
Keep that spirit. I'm disabled also but I try to help others even if it's a prayer or a smile.
Thanks. I'm disabled in a wheelchair and I try to help people as well. Its just so hard to help there seems to be so many. Here in Sydney we have a homeless situation that we shouldn't have. Mental health is getting worse as well. I find just talking to people helps. Take care

With the cooling cloths, if you add eucalyptus, peppermint, menthol-y essential oils to the water, it makes them feel even cooler. I used to make them for people protesting etc. I just used cheap-o washclothes. I would dump the cloths into water that I already had cooling essential oils in. I would ring out a bunch of the water, roll the cloths up, put each in it's own little sandwich bag. Then I would freeze them. I popped them into a cooler and would just hand them out as people needed them. All they had to do to get them cool again was wave or shake it in the air, and it would feel cool again. Everyone loved them. Since they were the cheap washclothes, I never expected them to be returned. Always had people ask what I did to them to make them feel so nice and cool. A lot of people started making them for their groups. It helps tremendously. Even if i didn't necessarily agree with their protest, I would do stuff to help people stay cooler. I'm in Florida - it gets miserable with the heat and humidity 👍

She gets mad because you speak the truth, with your history of working in the substance abuse I know you see that she is dying, I know that makes you sad if you could do it for her in any meaningful way you would have but until she's willing all you can do is keep feeding her body and soul and pray .Hopefully she will choose soon , otherwise the few that still care and hope will grieve with us, and another sweet shiny human will come along for us to hope and pray for, and we will support, hope,and pray ❤God bless you and all of those you look after ,pray for, feed and shelter as you can

It's just a blessing to watch how you have such a big heart and do everything you can to help these homeless people. Bless you and them also that they might be lifted from the streets to a home someday.
Real answer from a ragtolagist 😂 Cooling towels use evaporative cooling to help the body regulate its temperature by drawing heat away from the skin and into the towel. When the water in the towel evaporates into the air, it carries heat with it, creating a cooling effect. This process is similar to the body's natural sweat function.

I was in the streets for a while, and the amount of people who helped me was actually inspiring, some people felt bad for 'only' giving me $5, and $5, was a fortune to me, and those $5,.. truly helped me

I spent all of my youth up until my late 30s on various drugs, and did a stint on the streets.
It's a tough existence and no one should have to be without in this day and age, but sadly it's becoming more prevalent.
This September I'll be 11 clean and sober, and if i can do it anyone can.
Don't say you will one day and then keep putting it off because the longer you go, the harder it gets.
Start a plan right now.

I was rooting for her to decide to go with you. She was thinking about it. It was a longer pause than usual. She's gettin' there. Just need that nudge to get her over the line. It'a delicate situation, trying to balance between of not being too pushy to putting your foot down. I commend you Mike on your on-going efforts. its been going this way for years,. she will never be ready. she either decides to go or not. shes been getting there for few years now, and still nothing. and she got a whole lot of nudges. she doesnt want to get free of drugs bcz she loves being high.
I'm really rooting for Jessica. I was my sponsor's first sponsee, and I didn't make it easy on her. She learned (with immense amounts of patience) something you practice so well; we're not ready until we're ready. And from experience she knew that what people call "tough love" can be incredibly counterproductive; it's often touching on the kinds of trauma that our bodies have been taught can only be relieved by substances.
Some of us just need love - just love - and patience. Thanks for being that for so many beautiful people.

My husband's brother was homeless he took him in, we have RV so he's living in it, he couldn't afford a place and because he has a felony charge against him he can't get into affordable housing the apartments that charge according to your income, I think they should consider age he's in his 80's.

Michael’s better than an angel, God made us higher than angels and they long to look into things that we can look into. When my husband died. I didn’t like it when people said he was an angel watching over me. I’d be disappointed if he was wasting his time in heaven, looking after me as an angel. Mike earning his rewards. 25 years ago I took Vicodin for pain from polio. I went to my doctor and told him after a couple years I couldn’t do it anymore. He put me on methadone, for pain control also. It does nothing if you have a headache, but it saved my life. Withdrawals are horrible. Now I’m retired, widowed and doing good. still on methadone, but only a third of what I used to take and I did that on my own. The Supreme Court voted to leave it up to the states to make homelessness camping a crime. How did we get to this point? Beyond disappointed in this country.

Hey Mike, been watching you for heck a long time now i have watched the trust that you have gained with your homeless neighbor's and that is not an easy thing to do. god bless you my friend. I look at each one of them as someone i grew up with going to school, beach, concerts, life I really hope they realize there is help for them and because of you mike there chances are much better than other's who don't have someone like you helping them out. keep on grinding mike i feel you are very close to turning the lives around of a few of them real soon and i look forward to watching the change.

I weaned myself off all prescriptions for chronic pain over 8 years ago, but the last couple years or so its become debilitating to the point I've become mostly useless. I've been reconsidering at least the tramadol. Naturapathic treatments, acetaminophen & ibuprofen just don't do enough to function normally anymore. I did go through withdrawals when i weaned off the tramadol too quickly years ago & that spooked me into researching everything I was taking. I swore I'd never take prescriptions for pain, depression or anxiety ever again after i realized what they were doing to my body, but, like i said, im reconsidering. I miss being able to function.
I have an old girlfriend who took a dozen pills everyday for years, she finally weaned herself from all of them
I do take Advil often

Can happened to any of us ive been in the streets for 2 or 3 days, and it was truly hard, doing drugs helps u get through the day and start imagining and thinking a better life, thats the drug right there, thinking a better life
